Mohd Azizul Ramli 2 Report post Posted December 7, 2007 My 4th rumour thread! Rumours are spreading that MH (through PMB) will proceed with the purchase of 6 A380s. On top of that, MH is also being offered 2 additional A380s with hefty discounts as a compensation package for the delay of the A380s. MH is expected to accept the deal. Sources from LIMA stated that an announcement is expected within '30-60 days'. MH will be operating 8 A380s. Azizul

Simon 3 Report post Posted December 8, 2007 Extra 2 A380s??? Airbus is still far beyond to build the numbers of A380 to break even.
FK Wong 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2007 (edited) hmmmm....from $260 million catalogue price to $200 million discounted price.... discount of $360million in total = 2 units of airbus A380 plus 40 million?this make sense i believe. Perhaps this is the thing that emirates and other airlines has been getting which allows them to "purchase" even more. Ken M. 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2007 What destinations will MH fly their A380's to (assuming they get them of course)? Will it be AMS, LHR & SYD? Any other possibilites e.g. NRT and LAX? It will obviously be the most profitable routes. Any thoughts? Hope they don't send them to CDG - one finger to the French and AF
BC Tam 2 Report post Posted December 8, 2007 Hopefully KUL-BKI-KUL, once daily. That should do it. Will save a lot of cost if you concentrate the whole cattleload unto one flight. Anyone wants to fly any other time, go AK ! (Sorry, just being silly here)
Eric C 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2007 SYD, LHR and LAX for sure. Maybe AKL and AMS. Not sure of any other possible destinations. I don't know anything about MAS's load to NRT. Perhaps Frankfurt even...

Chee Yong 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2007 Well, MH just recovered and if they opt to fly with A380 which may be a disaster to them as well as being a Malaysian. Please don't shoot me if i'm wrong.

Ivan L. 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2007 AMS, LHR and SYD for sure. maybe MEL. AMS, LHR, and SYD being the candidates here. MEL don't think so. They have downgraded MEL from 1 744 and 1 772ER per day to only 2 772ER per day. If they can't sustain first class or 744 in MEL, A380 seems to be unlikely. Kenneth T 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2007 With only 6 aircraft the routes to be serve will cetainly be those high load sector for example LHR and SDY
S V Choong 4 Report post Posted December 9, 2007 sydney just like SQ ? unknw.gif You have a point there, Louis. FWIK there is an MH flight one way flight between SYD and MEL, but they could not pick up domestic pax. Not sure if SYD is a sustainable route for MAS A380 . Apparently MAS is also sending their 744 to BNE. Saw their 744 there when I flew into BNE at night about 10pm. From what I observed, a lot more pax. is flying with SIA rather than MAS, this is certainly true for AKL, SYD and MEL, if you observe their frequency. Izanee 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 For sure it will be AMS, LHR and SYD. CDG may be a possibility as their loads there are quite good. I don't know about FRA. They couldn't fill up a daily 772 so unless they step up their marketing and win over more pax - FRA will not get the A380. you're right - MEL probably will be difficult as they have downgraded it. Even SYD has been downgraded as 4 flights continue on to BNE. I cannot see how MH can't make Australia work. We used to be just behind SQ in terms of flights...now we are far behind EK and SQ. TG will soon overtake MH too. What are they doing? once they start pulling out or cutting services to important destinations, others will move in quickly. It is very very difficult to regain lost ground especially if others are serving with multiple frequencies on newer aircraft with cheaper tickets and better services! that was a mouthful!
