  1. The flights leaving MEL and SYD empty as a ferry flight back to SIN this afternoon. One flight in SYD and one flight in MEL were canceled as a result.
  2. Hmm.. Considering that Garuda has upped their playing field recently, it's probably fairer to say that MH would soon be like UA or AA.
  3. More business class seats pictures here... http://www.sqtalk.com/forums/showpost.php?...mp;postcount=57
  4. Well.. isn't this why MH has problems retaining its reputation as 5 stars airlines? MH saving grace at the moment is the crew and for them to drop out from number 1 is not okay. The world keeps spinning and the competition keeps rolling in, "Tak apa" kind of attitude doesn't have place if MH wants to compete with the world. It's a wake up call and MH definitely didn't do a good job. I'm sorry to say, but this comment has no factual support. SIA has won many awards and accolades for a long time, way before A380 even exist. Their legendary service has dated back to when they still have Boeing 707 and 747-200. I start to wonder if you have even ride on SQ... Some of the awards that SQ won is listed here: http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/en_UK/cont...chievements.jsp
  5. Ermmm.. are you sure that's Batam? I thought the ones with resorts and golf courses are Bintan. Batam is an industrial island, can be very dirty. Many Singaporeans go there to do business or have their factories located over there.
  6. I think, you should just do a daytrip to SIN to check out the airport coz it is a destination in itself. For me, it's a tourist attractions just like Sentosa or Jurong bird park . Singaporeans go to Changi like they go to their local shopping malls, the shops are very attractive and there are a lot of food choices and restaurants. Anyway, at least the airports in the list deserve the awards. They are simply excellent.
  7. Is this the latest Qantas engineer's tactic? Plane had faults despite overhaul - The Age A QANTAS aircraft just back from a maintenance overhaul in Malaysia had a string of faults including problems with its navigation systems and rudder. A flight attendant also received two electric shocks in the galley of the 737, which is used on domestic routes, documents obtained by The Age show. ... Among the other faults with the 737 and included in a technical log of defects obtained by The Age were: ■Movement of the pilot rudder pedals was restricted due to poor installation of the cockpit panels. ■ The captain's window had been scratched; a check said it looked as if it had been cleaned with "Scotch-Brite". ■ Cooling ducts that controlled computer temperatures were not working properly, likely causing the captain's primary instrument display and indication display screens to black out intermittently. ■ Equipment that allowed the air crew to report back to Qantas and vice versa stopped working. ■ The aircraft had "throttle stagger", which sources said meant that instead of being able to use autopilot the pilots had to adjust the power of the plane constantly. Other faults included a "squeal" or leak in the captain's side window and a small turbine engine at the rear of the plane that was over-spinning. Source: Click Here
  8. The fuel surcharge in Australia also going like crazy.. According to this news report here, http://www.theage.com.au/news/news/airline...3770909129.html, MH has increased their surcharge from AUD588 to AUD829 for Sydney-London flights, that is really skyhigh! Added with the taxes, the extras can cost simply between 30-50% of the tickets price.
  9. That comment reminds me of the Qantas union statement that Asian maintenance companies compromised safety. Rather than bickering whether AK should move to SZB or not, they should just focus on building the hub in KLIA. As it stands now, KUL is running way behind their competitors.
  10. I have to agree with you.. Singapore does have lots of stake in many Australian companies, eg. Optus, Australand, etc. However, marriage between SQ and QF is one that never going to happen, at least not in my lifetime.
  11. Well if it does make money, the least thing they can do is changing the equipment to A320 like they do with SGN. They may make money, but the problem is how much? It may just simply like what others said, the yield simply lower than other destinations.
  12. Hybrid? Nothing new here.. That is very much like what UA, AA, and their American counterparts have offered..
  13. It's reported here as well... "The Australian pilots union has criticised plans by the Qantas group to use foreign pilots on its low-cost airline Jetstar, claiming there is no shortage of Australian captains and it would be safer to use them." "While Mr Somerville did not directly say that the strategy would compromise passenger safety, he said he would "bet that the pilots brought in from the UK are not from British Airways, put it that way"." Source: http://www.theage.com.au/news/news/jetstar...1653891010.html The media and unions have blown out this issue out of proportion by saying it less safe to use foreign pilots.
  14. The color make MAS looks more like a charter holiday airline, not a 5 stars airline. Imagine if they install these colors in 777 and 747, eeewwww.... Since their financial condition is improved, they should hire a designer.
  15. I believe this is part of the union tactics to gain attention. Qantas have shifted some of their maintenance overseas and many are unhappy with this decision. Hence, they are trying to discredit the overseas maintenance companies. I do have sympathy over potential job losses in Australia, however this kind of strategy is absolutely digusting. It's also like saying that Asian airlines are unsafe. I find that the Australian media is often very biased, love to exaggerate the issue, and have very insular view.
