Firefly may take MAS jets to expand

Recommended Posts

Why FY is cancelling KUL-MYY all of the sudden?

And looks like KUL-SBW-KUL is still on.

Yup, KUL-SBW-KUL still on and at the moment ready for first flight on this coming 1st August. Now they offered for RM29 one way (fare 0.01 + 28.99 tax) during booking period start on 11 Mar - 16 Mar 2011 for travel period 1 Aug - 29 Oct 2011.

i book my ticket 2 weeks ago for my BKI-KUL at the basic price of RM35 per person. and today i bought my return ticket for KUL-BKI at RM29 per person, basic fare also.

my question is why they offer 2 times of low fare for the same travel period? 2 weeks ago, when i book my ticket, FY528 on 07/08 already cost Rm130++ which finished the 0.01 ticket. but today, the 0.01 ticket is back again on the same flight.

Let's hope they will not screw it up this time;otherwise Sibu folks dying to return for the Hari Raya on FY at the end of August will end up cursing in the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Confirmed. FL 280 / FL 290 KUL-BKI v.v. MLA / MLB used to fly at optimum levels, so the problem is with the company rather than the aircraft.

Ikman, they increase it when they launch the RM29 one way ticket. :(

Capt., any idea why they choose to fly such low attitude?

Company not permitted to do RVSM yet?

I think so. Anyway that was earlier this month; as of now I don't know if they've received their RVSM certification yet.

And that automatically means higher fuel cost for each of the effected flights, isn't it?

Unfortunately, yes.

But they might have their RVSM certification by now. Need to talk with some FY B738 guys to confirm.

Firefly identifies new hub users

MD sees need for better air linkages between Senai Airport and the region

SENAI: Firefly is targeting air travellers from the southern region, Singapore, Batam and transit passengers in Sabah and Sarawak as the main users for its southern hub here.

Managing director Datuk Eddy Leong said with Iskandar Malaysia progressing well, the airline expected air travel to pick up in the long run.

“We foresee great potential for growth in the leisure and tourism sectors in Iskandar which, in turn, will require better air linkages between Senai Airport and the region,'' he said on Saturday.

Leong was speaking to local and foreign media at the launch of Firefly's southern hub at Senai Airport by Malaysia Airlines (MAS) chairman Tan Sri Dr Munir Abdul Majid.

The airline is placing two 162-seat B737-400 aircraft at the airport, with two daily flights from Johor Baru to Kuching beginning May 19, and to Kota Kinabalu from June 16.

He said Kota Kinabalu could also serve as a gateway to Johor Baru for passengers from Australia, Hong Kong, Taipei, Seoul, Manila and Tokyo by leveraging on MAS' flights between Kota Kinabalu and these cities.

Leong said the Johor Premium Outlet in Kulaijaya near Senai Airport and the upcoming Legoland Theme Park would enhance tourist arrivals to Johor Baru.

“We are starting services from Johor Baru to Jakarta, Surabaya and Bandung in the third quarter, and to Bangkok in the fourth quarter of the year,'' said Leong.

He said the places were popular among holiday makers from Johor and Singapore and the airline also wanted to capture tourists from Indonesia seeking treatment at specialist hospitals in Johor Baru.

Nope, they will be leveraging on flights by the red one and Cebu Pacific instead

As things stand now anyway - unless Datuk knows otherwise :D

JHB is only about 30 minutes hop from KUL or SZB, it is more efficient and economical to feed to KUL/SZB.
