  1. Hi Mushrif, The flights were there even in the late eighties and nineties! I remember CX722/724 with tristars... they even threw in a 747 at times. I recall being in Subang in the early nineties one day and I saw many 'mamaks' like myself boarding a CX 747 and was amazed that there was such a large community in HKG. Then I saw the destination at the gate - Penang, not Hong Kong! There must have been local traffic rights at the time. Unless I was totally right the first time! Lol I guess tag on flights could work if the destinations by themselves are unable to provide sufficient loads to justify non stop services.
  2. KUL and CGK were suspended after egypt's troubles in 2016. There was a planned resumption of service to KUL but that did not go ahead so they only fly to BKK at the moment (I think just 3 weekly rather than daily)
  3. Air Zimbabwe, Kyrgyzstan airlines, lion air Timor leste, air Asia Bangladesh and natuna airways?? Stop keeping it such a secret. MAHB are failing miserably at attracting big names to KUL
  4. Well, I am also concerned about political reasons for this purchase but I would like to think that MH under PB is now planning for the future. Maybe he was playing Boeing versus Airbus to see what deal he could get? MH is far behind its regional rivals and really needs to start ordering next generation aircraft so that they arrive when MH is ready for their next phase of expansion. And I believe this is not too far away as we all believe. I think they should leave AMS to KLM (and continue their long term cooperation) - maybe think about CDG or FRA which may become even larger financial centres now that Brexit is looming!
  5. I prefer SIN over DXB for sure but I would love to see some of that kangaroo logo over in KUL sometime. What a shame they can't make KUL work even though they sponsored MH to join OW
  6. The most comfy economy seats were those MH 772s with their 34' pitch!
  7. So... the 737's first commercial flight was in 1968 by LH. And subang airport first opened in 1965....
  8. I don't see why not.. QR and TK have narrowbody aircraft with premium business cabins to fly short to medium haul routes...
  9. It is currently daily 77W... what is the current circumstance that you mean? I thought TK was doing well in KUL
  10. Oh no, what awful news... rest in peace Uncle Pieter..... I'm so sorry I didn't know you were unwell
  11. That is why this is the GREATEST turnaround ever
  12. Negative Nancies LOL!! KUL is not doing too bad considering all the negativity out there. We have breached >50 million pax per year mark so we are slowly getting there. Whether or not we will overtake SIN or BKK I don't know but we are certainly not doing too badly.
  13. I think they should have leveraged on AK's KUL hub instead of going straight to SIN which has multiple daily A380 flights to LHR
  14. Malaysia keeps losing out to our neighbours! Wow.
  15. LOL, as my friend in uni used to say, 'pompuan melayu best!' Hahaha
  16. It's things like this that you hear which makes flying with MAS a big turn off. Just not sure what they are doing to their customers, if you believe stories like this... How are you going to win back passengers? I despair....
  17. I think when KLIA was conceived, it was a beautiful plan which was far sighted. However, MAHB got sidetracked from their core business which is aviation and is now trying to make KLIA look like Central Market. Such a shame. The original shed like LCCT was built quickly so that we could pip Changi to the title of Asia'a first LCCT. Then instead of going with the original design, MAHB rushed to build a more expensive terminal elsewhere. It's a shame because I'm sure most of this was done to allow cronies to get a share of the pie. This is the story of Malaysia. Politics here is a way of making a quick buck - not about looking after the people
  18. I agree Flee...London is a prestige route but there is too much competition at this moment in time. I'm sure they can do CDG or FRA comfortably as there is no direct flights at the moment. If they muscle in now, it will make it more difficult for MH to re enter those markets when they begin their growth phase. London is a free for all at the moment (2x A380 and 1x 789 daily plus the ME4!) and even AAX has the jitters so they should stick to their gut instinct and wait.
