  1. It’s a shame cos Malaysia was big on marketing many years back. But because of corruption and mismanagement, money was channeled for other reasons. to save money, the government closed down tourism Malaysia offices in many major cities across us and Europe. Very premature, and with complete lack of foresight. they decided to concentrate fully on China alone, but places like Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam carried on promotion in Europe as well as Asia. It’s this complete lack of foresight and inappropriate penny pinching that has made me despair! tourism is our third biggest money earner - they should be putting money there in order to maintain our lead in terms of arrivals etc etc. This is especially so since we’ve lost practically most direct air links from Europe and USA. they are the biggest spenders worldwide. oh well, what do I know?

  3. Wow, that is a shocker. What a shame for KUL. Until we can get our economy to the next level, and lift the ringgit up from the depths, we will remain as a low yield destination. Plus, none of the European carriers can face the huge capacity that the ME3 provides to KUL.

We are a young country - give us a bit of time. what makes you so sure that the People are able to influence who becomes president in China? Yes, KMT lost the civil war and ran off to 🇹🇼 in 1949, but what other party is there in China?

  11. My concern is that AK is only interested in taking out its competition. There will be no pride in what MH stands for or drive to make MH ‘great again’. They have tried it before with the share swap deal - MH ended up worse off. I really hope they don’t fall into the hands of TF. What we need is a foreign investor who have the knowledge, expertise and experience of performing a turnaround. JAL seems to be the best bet. KUL is definitely not as premium as SIN but I feel that there is still room for both full service carriers and low cost carriers. the only reason why Khazanah would want to do that is that the board members will benefit from something! It is a no brainer. Hope Dr M prevails this time!
  12. Such rubbish from Khazanah. Air Asia, as you have all mentioned, will be interested to take MH out of the equation. They are in it for themselves only. Just like what Mueller did with EK and MH’s European ops. they need to think long term - and if JL or AF/KLM can not only invest in MH but also make KUL a more competitive hub... that will be much better for both. Remember Lee Kuan Yew said that if given the choice, he would prefer for SIN to continue being an international air hub rather than protect SIA. this is why SIN and SQ are where they are now...

  14. What an embarrassment... one of the six countries in category 2. How did it get so bad? Politicians busy with airing each other’s dirty laundry and enriching themselves. this will take a lot of time to sort out

  16. I have a feeling this is going to benefit SQ more than it will benefit MH. Funnelling our Europe bound passengers via Dubai (mueller time) and now vis Singapore as well.
  17. That was a huge mistake by the previous CEO. I did not understand why they did it. MAskargo under JJ Ong was also very profitable. they were desperate to show some positive numbers so decided to downsize rapidly - but all in the wrong areas. Very shortsighted as you say
  18. Finally! Oneworld cooperation for MH has been abysmal. The airline that sponsored MH into OW was QF, and they dont even fly to KUL. I was so surprised that MH and BA didnt codeshare on their KUL-LHR flights. CX pulled out of Malaysia and left us with KA service only. But I guess MH codeshares with CX out of HKG. MH codeshares with QR and AA - so at least thats something. MH used to codeshare with AA and their onward flights to 🇺🇸 (To and fro CDG, FRA and AMS)
