KC Sim 2 Report post Posted October 17, 2007 Finally, the first Singapore Airlines Airbus A380-841 has arrived . . . I absolutely cannot believe my eyes when I saw XuanHao's picture of the people on Changi Beach!! Quite an impressive turnout indeed. Glad at least someone captured the mood there. Over the airport, there was drama in the holding room . . . a cameraman tripped over some wires and smashed his face and hand on a glass showcase - and shattered both the showcase and his face. He was eventually bandaged and sent to hospital and some of the exhibits spent the night without the glass casing. Anyhow, here's two shots of its touchdown . . . And the watercanon salute - the first ever at Changi Airport - that greeted it as it turned to its berth at A4. KC Sim
LeeCH 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2007 My contribution. Take from a different angle. Do not really know who's great idea is it to get the aircraft to land at 6.40pm local time. Definitely no light whatsoever for any good shot and it was threatening to rain on the approach part. Nevertheless, it was really a joy to be there. To hear and smell the trail of wake and sound left behind as it soared overhead me. Even from very very far away, it already look extremely huge and menancing. As it get nearer, the rain clouds since 5pm threatened to spoil the party for all. But alas, it hold on a little while longer. Almost home. 500 feet to go. Just in case, a registration check. Just to make sure Airbus did not get it wrong and sent the wrong aircraft here. Cheers. Special thanks to Kwek for these pictures here.
