razlan 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2007 (edited) that's a great idea i'm in then........but the timing is on thursday rite.....8am, and friday 11pm(so need to apply for leave).......btw, there are 3 A380s rite? all of them to Sydney? Quoted from a380.singaporeair.com: "The aircraft will enter commercial service on Thursday 25 October 2007, with a special return flight between Singapore and Sydney. The majority of seats on this flight were sold at auction on eBay, the global online marketplace, and all of the proceeds from the auction are being split among charities in Singapore, Sydney and a global humanitarian organisation. Then, on Sunday 28 October 2007, the A380 will commence scheduled service between Singapore and Sydney on one of the three daily flights in each direction." maybe not this thursday, though i'll be in jb from wed to fri. probably during weekend since its daily flight and no need to take leave. KC Sim 2 Report post Posted October 21, 2007 A final installment of pics from the handover/delivery of SIA's first Airbus A380 from me. As the A380 was being towed into its parking bay in front of Airbus' Delivery Centre on 15 Oct, television cameras mostly showed a view taken from within the delivery centre. Just outside and to the left of that perspective, this is what went on. Ever so slowly and carefully, the towtug inched forward . . . and finally came to a halt. Movement by cameramen and television crew from this point was severely restricted due to live coverage of the VIPs who the toured the aircraft followed by other guests in manageable batches right through to about 1530hrs. It must have been very tiring for the cabin crew who were positioned throughout the aircraft as they had to continually introduce the aircraft's features and answer probably the same questions over and over again. So all I could grab were these nose shots. And there is of course its arrival in Singapore . . . although many of us wished that the ceremony could have begun somewhat earlier and make better use of the great weather on 17 October, we had to contend with the low light situation. Thankfully, the event organisers that day brought in some wonderful lighting . . . which cast a very even and nice white light (reportedly the kind used for shooting advertisments) on the aircraft. And in the yet-to-be-opened Terminal 3 of Changi Airport, two cabin attendants were on hand to greet guests in front of a huge billboard depicting the A380. The next pictures will come from the Charity Flights from SIN to SYD and return. KC Sim
