We're counting on you Waiping !! :D

Take my word, solution is not so simple - it was rather dishearthening having to stare at a blank black screen upon playback :)

Perhaps you have a technique you can share ?

Yes solution not so simple.. You would need very expensive professional camcorders with very good lens (preferably those with very very big apertures) and very good sensors for the ISO sensitivity (when using high ISOs and wouldn't destroy the video with grainy effects etc).. and high quality tripods :S

Is the apron lit? Do you have access to a good view of the apron?

If so, you might try to go for shots like these:

Equipment is not a problem. Have access to demo units. :p

Flee, the apron is well lit but still need to be inside restricted area in order to get better shots. Here is what we can get from outside at the moment. Can't stay too long here either. Shot with Powershot S90 a few years ago.

I hope they will launch new flights to KUL with their new A330, as well as resuming scheduled services to BKI.

TransAsia takes delivery of aircraft

TransAsia Airways Corp (TNA, 復興航空), a listed carrier in Taiwan focusing on regional routes in Asia, yesterday took delivery of its first wide-body Airbus 330-300 aircraft from French-based aircraft manufacturer Airbus SAS.

The new 300-seat plane, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines, is scheduled to service routes to Singapore and Hokkaido, Japan, by the end of this year, a company official said.

“The delivery is leading TransAsia to the next era,” company chairman Vincent Lin (林明昇) said at the delivery ceremony.

TransAsia placed orders for two A330-300s in November 2010, with the price per aircraft set at just under US$150 million, according to company data.

The second A330-300 aircraft is set to be delivered in January, boosting the carrier’s fleet to 20 aircrafts.

Lin expects that the two A330-300 planes will raise the carrier’s revenue by 25 percent to 30 percent next year from this year as they offer a 40 percent increase in seats for international routes operated by TransAsia.

With rising sales and the current level of fuel costs, Lin said he expected the carrier to generate a profit next year.

The price of jet fuel stood at US$124 per barrel as of Nov. 2, down 5 percent from a month ago, data offered by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) showed.

After the delivery of the A330-300 aircraft, TransAsia is looking to launch more regional services in Asia, with routes to Thailand and Malaysia expected to open next year, Lin said.

Meanwhile, the carrier will continue to expand routes to Japan, with a Taipei-Tokyo service scheduled to be launched in the second quarter of next year following the government’s open-skies policy, Lin said.

He said the carrier still welcomes investors with business experience in airline-related industries to invest in TransAsia.

“We will not opt out of any cooperation opportunities,” Lin said.

The private placement of NT$898 million (US$31 million) approved by TransAsia’s board of directors last year is also ongoing, Lin added.

TransAsia saw its net profit total NT$153.21 million, or NT$0.28 per share, in the first nine months of the year, to give it the highest earnings per share (EPS) among the nation’s three listed airlines, the carrier said in a statement.

Sales totaled NT$7.9 billion in the first 10 months of the year, up 8.56 percent from a year earlier, the statement said.

TransAisa’s shares rose 2.84 percent to close at NT$14.5 in Taipei trading yesterday, compared with the TAIEX’s 1.11 percent increase.

5 flights a day to HKG on weekends. That is quite impressive for a secondary airport like BKI. I counted 4 - MH, AK, KA, and this, HongKong Airlines. Who's the other one?

Currently all the 5 flights departing for HKG are operated by MH (morning & evening), KA (evening) and AK (early morning & evening). With this recent addition of Hong Kong Airlines flight, there will be six flights departing for HKG on Saturday :D

Based on this article, we might see Lao Airlines launching services to KLIA from February 9th 2013.

Mekong airlines expand services

December 19, 2012 by Rapeepat Mantanarat

BANGKOK, 19 December 2012: Home-based and regional airlines expand services to and from Laos and Vietnam.

The expansion sees airlines tapping the travel boom from China. The country is Vietnam’s top tourism supplier (+0.8% for 11 month period) and second for Laos (+40% for six-month period).

In Vietnam, China Eastern will commence a Kunming-Danang route from 27 December with a twice-weekly service.

China Southern Airlines, late November, launched twice-weekly scheduled charters on the Shenzhen – Danang route, its third destination in Vietnam.

Vietnam’s national airline, Vietnam Airlines. on Monday added an extra weekly flight on the Hanoi-Kaohsiung route lifting frequency from three to four flights a week. Earlier in the month it also introduced a five-weekly service between Hanoi and Phu Quoc.

Then from mid-April next year, it plans to add a third weekly flight on the Ho Chi Minh City-London Gatwick route. The London service from Hanoi will continue with two flights a week. Also in April, Vietnam Airlines will add a technical stop in Frankfurt in both directions for all London services.

Lao Airline, effective 21 December, will launch three-weekly services from Vientiane to Seoul followed by Busan 30 December with three flights a week. On 9 February, it plans to a new service to Kuala Lumpur.

The carrier launched a service to Guangzhou, 29 November and to Danang via Savannakhet and Pakse 4 December.

From 17 January Chinese carrier, China Eastern Airlines, will commence twice weekly services from Kunming to Luang Prabang, its second route to Laos after Kunming-Vientiane.

Korea’s low-cost carrier, Jin Air, will increase Seoul-Vientiane services from four to six flights weekly for the peak season, 22 December to 6 March 2013.

Vladivostok Air to Launch Seasonal Charter Links to Malaysia

Posted 14 November 2012 07:39

Russian carrier Vladivostok Air is to operate a seasonal series of 15 charter flights linking its home base in the Far Eastern city of Vladivostok with the popular Malaysian holiday destinations of Kota Kinabalu and Langkawi. The flights, which will operate via the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur and will be flown in partnership with Malaysian tour agency Tourism Vacation Resources Sdn Bhd.

The first flight is scheduled to operate on December 17, 2012 and will continue through to March 26, 2013. Nine return flights will operate to Kota Kinabalu and six to Langkawi and these will be operated using either Tupolev Tu-204-300 or Airbus A320 equipment. Vladivostok Air configures its Tu-204-300 fleet with eight Business Class and 134 Economy seats, while its A320s are slightly larger with space for 12 Business Class and 138 Economy passengers.

According to Malaysia’s Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen, the new air services will support an anticipated increase in Russian visitor numbers to Malaysia. In the first half of this year there was a 28 per cent rise in Russian tourist arrivals in Malaysia and the country expects to record around 45,000 visitors from the country during the full year, up from 38,918 in 2011.

“The direct chartered flights will give us a boost in terms of attracting more Russian tourists to the country especially for long vacations to escape the winter season there,” explained Dr Ng. “Our beautiful vacation spots and beaches all over the country, like those in Langkawi and Kota Kinabalu, are a major draw for Russian tourists.

“They like to stay for up to eight to nine days there. Our main selling point is that we are able to give them warm and really nice places to escape the long winter in their country. We' would also like them to make Malaysia their second home while waiting for winter to end,” she added.

There are currently no direct air links between Russia and Malaysia although Aeroflot previously provided non-stop services between Moscow Sheremetyevo and Kuala Lumpur between October 1998 and March 2001, and Transaero Airlines offered seasonal services between the Malaysian capital and Moscow Domodedovo between December 2011 and May 2012.

According to Dr Ng, Vladivostok is a logical location to begin new ties between Russia and the Malaysian destinations of Kota Kinabalu and Langkawi due to its geographic position. Flight times are estimated to be six and a half hours and eight hours and forty minutes, respectively, said the Tourism Minister. “This is an untapped route and I see a lot of potential in this partnership. This will not only bring in more tourist arrivals from Russia, but will also strengthen the friendly ties between our two countries,” she added.
