Yeah, we may even see the EK A380 come back before January 2016..

If MH pulls out of AMS, I can see KL increasing their flights to KUL or upgauging capacity.

As for CDG, the downgauging of MAS flights may grant AF some reprieve. AF may be able to sustain a higher frequency that the 3-4 weekly they do now...

Wonder why some Middle East carriers have special aircrafts for KUL? Coincidence perhaps? EY operates dedicated 9W aircrafts mostly to KUL and QR now with the specific A346. Just a thought if KUL has a very special market?

Do you see it as filling in the gap for traffic between KUL and AMS/CDG/FRA or are they connecting at those stations for onward flights? Perhaps feeding into MH network?

Update at 1025GMT 07MAY15

QATAR Airways during summer season is to introduce 2-class configuration of Airbus A340-600 aircraft, due to enter service approximately on 01JUL15, initially on Doha – Kuala Lumpur QR846/847 service.

The 2-class A340-600 configuration seats 24 Business and 348 Economy Class, a total of 372 seats. Current 3-class configuration is F8J42Y256.

That's a people mover! Capacity wise, it's quite similar to the 77W with 24 J seats.

In addition, QR will be increasing its flights to KUL to 24 weekly. New flights as below:

QR856 DOH0200 – 1500KUL 332 246

QR857 KUL1700 – 1930DOH 332 246

And EY will be operating 3-cabin A333 beginning June 1 on the EY 413/416 rotation, giving KUL 13 weekly 3-cabin service (the only exception is Sunday's EY 418/411 operated by 2-cabin VA 77W).

Kandiah, I think it's more filling the gaps for traffic between KUL and the other European stations...

There is a market for sure ..

Thanks Izanee for sharing. I wonder when QR will get rid of their older A330s and send newer aircraft into KUL. Nevertheless, it is good news for KUL spotters. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

I think they will do so once the A330P2F program is in full swing. Airbus EFW at Dresden is now working on first A330 pax to freighter conversion. FYI, it will be ex-MH's A333 (9M-MKI).

Would like your comments on Qatar Airways vs Emirates. Any comments. I'll be making a trip to Uganda from Kuala Lumpur and the options I have is to fly Emirates or Qatar.

Will be flying on Business Class and I'm inclined to go for Qatar as it is a One World Member and my points can be credited to my Enrich account. Your advise and opinion is greatly appreciated.

If flight schedules and price is similar, go for QR. Better food, lounge, and seats (although KUL-DOH isn't great, but better than EK). The A346 and B77W/77L flights are guaranteed flat beds. A333 flights are Russian roulette. Plus you get your MH miles too.

QR EY - no big difference on these routes between KUL-DOH/KUL-DXB. Not sure what equipment they fly on to EBB.

I can only advise you to bring small USD notes in pocket, to help "ease" your trip to Kampala. Had a bit of fun there, but I don't wanna do it again.

I did something business wise there that probably made me a little unpopular with some local councilmen as they were probably counting on some profits that hadn't hatched yet.......
