  1. RMAF's F-18 are not impotent as such, but rather, they need to get permission from uncle sam before shooting.
  2. Nice...but surely a better way to take an airfield would be to take out enemy radars and then paradropping a whole regiment of troops into the arifield. That way, you dont expose multi million dollar fighter jets to triple A barrage and u get to capture enemy equipment/aircraft intact. Our airforce is not very big and the RMAF losing a single F-18 is akin to the US Navy losing an aircraft carrier
  3. Most of you might have heard the story... where American A-10s accidentally conducted strafing runs on a British convoy in daytime. Now the cockpit video of the A-10s is publicly available. The Story: http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,,2007391,00.html The Cockpit video:
  4. I was wondering the same...hmmm TV3 must know something that I don't
  5. Those are F-16s. The single engine, wing shape and location of the air intake are dead giveaways.
  6. Air sickness bags are waterproof... I have seen a young passenger using it in lieu of going to the toilet... and i thought his parents were being silly by allowin him to do that... until i saw this thread... Now it all makes sense!
  7. Thanks for the report, Seng Lim, but glancing through the document, it would seem both the pilots and the airport are at fault. Its just a bit of a wonder that the pilots managed to stay alive when more than half the passengers behind them, on the same deck, perished.
  8. This incident has actually been brought up by Denny Yen just last week in another thread... Anyway, nice to see the pics here...
  9. I have another question related to this: Are all airliners equipped with ELT? If so, why does it seem that on some plane crashes, the SAR team simply takes ages to locate the crash site? And if the ELT activation is dependent upon the rate of deceleration, does that mean it won't activate if a plane were to stall, hit the ground at a low speed, and then start to pusing here and there before stopping?
  10. Maybe China Eastern and China Southern don't like each other and they wanna take things to another level.
  11. I would like 2 of them to see them do 'Opposing Knife Edge Crossovers' like Blue Angels... haha
  12. From what I heard, it's the 'source code' for weapons release that was witheld by the US when they sold RMAF the F/A-18Ds. Without the codes, you can still arm our Hornets with any missiles or bombs but they can never leave the rails... How true this is, I don't know... sounds like someone from our ministry of defence forgot to read the contract document for the purchase...
  13. Boeing 737 all the way! Fokker 50 is the runner up. The way the whole cabin shakes during a turbulent approach is simply awesome. Like roller coaster onlli.
  14. Now if the govt and MPs had kept a closer eye on MAS operations during the ex-CEO's reign, MAS might not be in this lousy financial shape at the moment and end up having to distribute routes to Air Asia, now would it? The fact is that the govt had failed in their duty to safeguard the national carrier against possible misuse of funds by CEOs so now they end up with financial difficulties. And since they (the govt) keep preaching about meritrocracy, they should let a more able airline handle some of the routes. <<Members of Parliament (MPs), Tuesday questioned AirAsia's commitment in fulfilling its responsibility to the nation since the Low Cost Carrier (LCC) was only interested in profit.>> What a stupid statement by MPs. An airline is a business and the main purpose of a business is to make profit! Not to serve the goverment's wishes! i dont wan to coment on the bridge issue as it is an inappropriate topic for this forum but i do agree that Malaysia needs to be much firmer with her neighbours.
  15. Yay. More cases of 'Unable to shut engine down' to look forward to.
  16. How come no one questioned the previous CEO regarding this billion dollar deficit? Being the CEO during a period when MAS was losing money, maybe he could offer some insights as to how it happened? In fact, Datuk Ahmad Fuad Dahalan should be under investigation.
  17. Last month, i was on Air Asia's new A320 travelling from KUL - BKI. After we've landed at BKI, the passengers had a long wait in the cabin b4 disembarking due to 'masalah teknikal'. Both engines were kept running all the time when the aircraft was parked on the tarmac. In the end, after 10 mins or so, the captain announced that we hav to get off the plane from the right hand side coz number 1 engine cannot be shut down. See the attached pic that i took as i was disembarking. Note engine 1 is really still running. Strange huh... engine can't start, Ive heard of... but this is the first time I've experienced someone not able to shut down engines.... Just pull the fuel cut off switch cannot meh? Or maybe APU is broken so he had to keep one engine running?
  18. I like the F-16... but it is an unstable jet to fly.... On the sidenote, does anyone remember this movie called 'Afterburn' about 15 years ago... It was based on a true story,apparently... about how the widow of a dead F-16 pilot uncovered some technical design flaw in the early F-16 models which the USAF wanted to keep under wraps... Any truth in the movie?

    RMAF

Last time I was at RMAF museum, the canopy of that skyhawk was open. I climbed in and sat in it... excellent feeling. However, no ejection seat. Only got an office swivel chair! Also, I looked at the plane from the rear, big hole, no engine also.
  20. Yea... I like the close up of the Hornet one too...|
  21. Good angle pics... Azahan. But I still like the one where u were sitting on the tayar of the T7. Just one question.. how did u avoid snapping the pic of the pagar? Or the airport dun have pagar one?
  22. Neh mind one... Virgin has opened a new chain of underwear outlets which are doing good. They sell quite a nice range of panties... Can offset Airlines loss...
  23. What a coincidence eh... The S304 has really slow shutter speed and i cannot find a way to speed it up. Thus I think it's a terrible camera for aircraft photography, unless your snapping at static ones. The picture quality is pretty good though.
