Jonathan Kong 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2005 Very nice Asiana picture, bro Kong: how about some Rossya aircraft, like IL62, IL96 or the IL76 ? 20443 i miss all of those. President Putin came on Tuesday and departed on Wednesday afternoon... if only he left on Thursday
Raymond Ngu 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2005 This is the 2nd IL96 that arrived on Tuesday. I think it's a back-up plane as she taxi pass the observation deck straight to the remote bay after landing.
TK 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2005 Back up, i thought President Putin uses this plane most of the time and the Il-62 is for other VIPs. But remember, they can change planes anytime for security reason.
Nick R. 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2005 Whoah! just love to see those Airbus-hybrid IL96s. might look even better if they put on western engines
Pieter C. 5 Report post Posted December 17, 2005 This is the 2nd IL96 that arrived on Tuesday. I think it's a back-up plane as she taxi pass the observation deck straight to the remote bay after landing. 20460 RA-96012 was Putin's plane when visiting NL a few weeks back, however, 2x IL96 were operating, so you wouldn't know on which one the President would be flying, indeed, for security reasons

Fitri Shukri 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2005 Thanks for the pics Raymond. So many Russians in KL recently huh. Putin even got time to personally visit Tun Dr M at his house. I think its normal procedures to fly in two similar aircraft for the Russian President. The USA also flies two similar aircraft for the their President. Which one is Air Force One, its anyone guess only. All these for security reason. I wonder if the US President were to fly into KLIA to disembark at Bunga Raya Complex, will the authorities close down the road and spotting areas near Weather Station or not. But I bet there will be Secret Service agents and snipers sneaking around the whole KLIA.
Radzi 2 Report post Posted December 19, 2005 I come back from flight and rushed to the 32L approach. Passing near bunga raya I saw the IL96 already there. My heart sank; I missed the shot. Went to the spot anyway for about half an hour. One TG 330, then a MH 747. Then another 4 engined aircraft approached; this time it is not a 747. CX 340? Lanka 340? No, another IL96! Wow.... Went home happy.... Anyway, Japan ALWAYS send their 2 744 together. Once again for security reason.
Rozhan 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2005 On my way to LGK for LIMA on 10 Dec, I chanced upon a cluster of Russian planes parked near where the 'KLIA Monument' Aerolanka B727 sits. I saw a tail that looked like the Il-62M, and 2 others which appeared to be an IL-76 and an Antonov 124 if I'm not mistaken. I suppose these were for the special limosine etc.
