Pieter C. 5 Report post Posted July 6, 2008 Great shots there, uncle Norman !!! You were able to climb some sort of tower/structure, as the fence seems rather high and barbed-wired ?! HKG Express is also Hainan sub, but I believe you intended to say Hong Kong Airlines ? Saw a similar red-one in SGN (and will post in seperate topic later)... Keep those China shots comin'...very interesting indeed with all the variety of airlines and aircraft !!!

Norman 1 Report post Posted July 7, 2008 Thanks for the kind words guys... MWings 3rd Anniversary syiok kan?.. we cover more airports... hahahah Great shots Norman. Really good to have spotters around to guide and assist around the airport. Good spotting locations but got to watch out for the little bamboo poles Wow.. nice Uncle Norman,.. somehow we have lamp post at wx station KUL, but in XIY.. .bamboo post??? though tiny.. but its abit distracting isn't it Uncle Norman? maybe have to potatoshop it away hehe.. Yup the bamboo poles were erected all over the place to chase away birds. Lin also said that normally he'll photoshoped it out... but I'll choose the pix that doesn't block the aircraft. In fact they've installed loud speakers around the runway that play sound of preying birds... a very noisy spotting session... and if you hear gunshots... don't be alarmed... those were gunshots fired by the the personnel towards the birds... I guess they used only airguns... Bullet will be too dangerous to spotters... and they also installed this type of scarecrow... the thing will rotates when there's wind & the reflective aluminum plates will reflect lights to scare away the birds Waaa~!!! So close to the Rwy ahhh~!! Macam Penang.. got beredar team tak~?? Got... here you can see the off-duty beredar tem... playing basketball infront of their leaving quarters... hehehe... & the #2 location is quite near to the building... hehehe If you look on the left of the pic... there's a guy on bicycle... that's the 'on-duty' beredar team they'll will patrol the inner perimeter road on bicycles... In fact they has stopped in front of us & saying 'we can't take photos'... I didn't understand what Lin said to them... he smiled... they smiled back & just rode away... This happened twice... once at Loc #1 and another at #2 They also have patrols using cars... also the bird patrol on 4WD... But according to Lin... it's legal to photograph civilian aircraft in China... But not military.... I don't dare to think of the consequences.. Great shots there, uncle Norman !!! Thanks Unc Pieter... No need ladder/tower or any structure... if you look at the first photo of me & Lin also these photos... you'll notice that the farmland is higher than the airport ground, in fact the barbed wires are almost level with the ground... Best spotting location for an airport ps: I'll continue with the spotted aircraft soon... just got back last night... damn tired maaa.... --
Ignatius 4 Report post Posted July 7, 2008 I am somehow proud of the beredar team on bicycles despite skyrocketing fuel prices.. at least it shows they've got a brain to use. our beredar team drives recklessly in their hiluxes hmmm they should be on bicycles.. or the most motorcycles.. <_>
