Bienvenue a Geneve

Recommended Posts

Guys,

Would like to share some shots I took recently at Cointrin, airport of Geneva, in 3 parts:

- Airliners

- Butt shots :p

- Bizjets :pardon:

GVA is hosting some nice and interesting airlines, to be seen in the 1st part.

The 2nd part is dedicated to Chaity, farther of the tail/butt shots here...

The 3rd part will show all the bizzers that passed my lens in a 6 hours period, whether small or big :pardon:

Enjoy ;)

Bienvenue a Geneve, mesdames et messieurs...

GVA26may2008052.jpg

Only a few airlines are operating the Airbus A318, and here is one in the AF-dress:

GVA26may2008003.jpg

This 777 is usually used to better weatherconditions than here at GVA

GVA26may2008017.jpg

Had the pleasure of flying on this baby once before between DOH and SGN :pardon:

GVA26may2008018.jpg

It was good to see a different 737 of Olympic this time at GVA, a Spanish registered one no less :yahoo:

GVA26may2008030.jpg

Do I have to say more ? Assigned this beauty myself to be in front of my lens the next day :pardon:

GVA26may2008034.jpg

French sistership is operated by Cityjet, a 100% subsidiary of Air France, like cityhopper is to KLM

GVA26may2008039.jpg

Baboo is a Swiss airline based at GVA and founded by the former Crossair CEO, Mr. Suter; here a Dash8 in new colours:

GVA26may2008055.jpg

Dedicated to our MW-members of Turkey, Hakan & Ilgaz:

GVA26may2008058.jpg

This Avro-jet is still sporting the old colours, based on the one of SABENA

GVA26may2008059.jpg

Guess this airline

GVA26may2008062.jpg

Apart from TAP, this 'other' Portuguese airline operates to Aeroport Cointrin

GVA26may2008065.jpg

to be continued...

Awesome photos there, Pieter!

Cute baby bus and the intricate decal on the engine cowling of the Baboo Dash-8. Love them!

Thanks for sharing! Can't wait for the bizjet part.

Qatar Airways? :pardon:

Correct, LeeTZ, they operate twice a day into GVA: 1x DOH-GVA-EWR and 1x EWR-GVA-DOH ;)

Oui, Tamizi, et beaucoup de pluit avant de midi :(

(Yes, Tamizi, and a lot of rain before noon)...

Thanks a lot for the comments, guys, let's continue (and finish) with chapter 1, the airliners :pardon:

An interesting airline not seen at AMS, is Air Algerie:

GVA26may2008069.jpg

During the Euro2008, Swiss has added 'airline for all fans' titles to their aircraft:

GVA26may2008074.jpg

Apart from one Jumbolino in Zurich Airport Shopping livery, another one is operating in full Star Alliance colours:

GVA26may2008098.jpg

Darwin is a small Swiss regional airline and has nothing to do with the Australian city:

GVA26may2008106.jpg

Seen before in the AMS topic (after painting with QAPS), this E190 was now seen operating to Italy:

GVA26may2008108.jpg

Hamburg International was a surprise visitor to me, and livery looks very similar to Lufthansa, or is it German ?

GVA26may2008112.jpg

Baboo in old livery also passed my lens; which one do you prefer TK ? :o

GVA26may2008113.jpg

Blue Islands is a small carrier from the Channel Islands and hardly seen outside the UK:

GVA26may2008117.jpg

tomorrow, we continue with the butt shots: stay put ... :pardon:

Let's continue with the 1st part of the butt-shots ;)

Embraer E170; engines are quite close to the runway

GVA26may2008005.jpg

Bombardier Global Express; look at the wing-surfaces:

GVA26may2008022.jpg

General Dynamics Gulfstream 5; as big as the Dutch sister Fokker 70:

GVA26may2008025.jpg

Fokker 100; flapsetting zero during take-off:

GVA26may2008035.jpg

Bombardier Dash-8-400Q; like the exhausts this way ;)

GVA26may2008057.jpg

Avro RJ-100 Ugly Duckling  ; just have a good look at these flaps and under-carriage + doors :pardon:

GVA26may2008061.jpg

to be continued (with part 2) soon...

Nice butt shot Uncle Pieter....... I LIKE (in thai slang........)

Glad you enjoy them :p

Here are some more :pardon:

Hawker really looks neat with these winglets

GVA26may2008072.jpg

and, the BD100 looks like this (no bad butt either)

GVA26may2008013.jpg

This was the biggest butt I photographed, VP-BHM:

GVA26may2008100.jpg

The Jungle-jet E-145 is sleak and has extremely short span (from this angle)

GVA26may2008103.jpg

Love the oval jetpipes of the Saab 2000

GVA26may2008107.jpg

Talking about a small span; apparently not needed with these TNT-wings

GVA26may2008119.jpg

to be continued with bizjets...

OK, guys, let's finish with the last installment, the business-jets:

Bombardier BD100 is the smaller variant of the Global Express:

GVA26may2008012.jpg

One of the most popular bizzers nowadays, is the Citation - here the Cessna 560 Citation:

GVA26may2008014.jpg

Talking about the Global Express, here she is in all her glory :pardon:

GVA26may2008020.jpg

Another 'biggy' is the Gulfstream 5, or is this a G550 ?

GVA26may2008024.jpg

If you cannot afford the bigger Citation, there is also the smaller Citationjet:

GVA26may2008026.jpg

One of the most pretty business-jets IMHO are the ones made by Dassault in France; here the Falcon900

GVA26may2008032.jpg

How about a RegionalJet as your private plane ? Many airlines use these with 50 seats...

GVA26may2008038.jpg

to be continued...

Last instalment of the business-jets in this topic, guys: hope you enjoy the shots :pardon:

If Bombardier can build a Regional-size jet, so can competitor Embraer, as shown here with the Legacy:

GVA26may2008045.jpg

Dedicated to Gibby; do I have to say more about these sexy lines ? :o

GVA26may2008051.jpg

With a different nose and having additional fairings, the Citation-Excel is easy to recognize:

GVA26may2008073.jpg

The most beautiful livery seen on any bizzer that day, was this Lithuanian Hawker:

GVA26may2008077.jpg

Lacking one engine of the Falcon900 is this Falcon2000 of the same manufacturer Dassault:

GVA26may2008083.jpg

Even smaller than the smallest Citation(jet), is this Swearingen SJ30:

GVA26may2008094.jpg

How about this as a business-jet ? McDonnell-Douglas DC-8-62

GVA26may2008099.jpg

(sorry was out of focus when passing at a better angle  , so this is the best I can share :pardon: )

What would you prefer ? This one or the Fokker 70 ? ;)

GVA26may2008110.jpg

end of pictures/sharing...

Sorry Pieter, with so much work on i've been just grazing over topics...how I missed one this fantastic I do not know! Simply awesome stuff!

VP-BNE is Gulfstream 550 (the way to tell is the 7th window).

Love the Challenger, and i'm sorry, i'd prefer the G-V over the Fokker 70!

There IS a fence at GVA, however, it's fitted with photo-holes, so easy for picture-taking :good:

Goodday again!

I want to share some great stuff from Geneva this time. I had so much luck in traffic, specials... nothing more then LUCK, LUCK and LUCK!

I feel like quiting my hobby now, I never get more luck then those 2 days... hehe :pardon:

Main target was HZ-AIF who was due to come in the 2nd day at 7 AM in the morning, departing again at 8 AM the same day.

One of my goals for 2012 was to catch the Saudi 747SP no matter if its HZ-AIF, HZ-AIJ or HZ-HM1B.

As soon as I touched down on RWY 23 @ LSGG/GVA with my white/orange plane I saw a Saudi 747 tail... OH MY GOD NO WAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

We parked a little right and behind the SV
