Samsyuri 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2007 While enjoying a break from work last school holiday, I took a chance spotting at Sultan Abdul Halim Airport, Alor Star. The traffic is not so interesting compared to SZB (don't compare to KUL). Only four commercial flight serves AOR. Two in the morning and one each for afternoon and late evening. My spotting session here covers the morning flight. Day 1 First day of spotting. Missed the first arrival, Air Asia AK6346 at 0810LT. Half an hour later this one came as MH1202. 9M-MMF approaching runway 04 9M-AFK return to KUL as AK6347 at 0930LT Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Need to cancel my penang spotting trip.. aiyaaak~!! got my cousin wedding. last minute to be inform about it..gagagaga. So attend the wedding today at alor star.. gagagaga. So apa lagi AOR spotting laaa. hahahaha~!!!! The Terminal.. gluk gluk~!!! after rain. Lucky.. come on the right time. even do it just MH734.. Happy already.GagagaGa Touchdown on the wet runway. Enough Rwy. maybe~??? i think it use one Reverser only. Can see the 'mesin padi' at the background with the yellow paddy field. can't get a background like this in KLIA. HahahaHa Tower look nice..i am realy hope to see some action from people back there.. but no military action that time..cuti kot~??? MH Dock. aiyakk~!!! kna block. Azmir I. 1 Report post Posted August 20, 2007 The Rwy in AOR has been lengthen recently from the previuos 6500 ft to 8000ft,enough for a wide body aircraft to land safely there.It was my old alma mater,I did basic flying at AOR (PLTB 1/No.1 FTC) in 1989,since then theres been a lot of changes.Remembered one time,I think it was in 1990 or 1991 when the Sultan of Brunei brought his then brand new A340-8000 to AOR to attend some function given by the Sultan of Kedah,the Captain was a mat salleh,did 3 approaches before finally comming in to land,landed very positive and did max effort braking.AOR rwy then was only 6500 ft,recalled that the Captain was really shooked up by the experience,perhaps terpaksa cakap boleh to the Boss if not hewill find somebody else todo the job.Also remembered when the A4PTM came to AOR from KTN during one of those regular Ftr deployments,that time was done by No.9 Sqn (now disbanded).The sight of A4s taking off from AOR was awesome to say the least.I truly enjoyed my days during basic flying,but ofcourse do not count on the regular hasing done our seniors and Flt instructors .Again that is another story altogether.Just to share some nostalgic moments in my aviation career.
