  1. Currently its doing 6 x weekly flights to PER,come Nov 12 it will be doing PER and MEL while -XAA will be doing OOL and HGH.
  2. Its 9M-XXA,msn 952,its a A330-343E and not -343X,no center tank but its a HGW version.I flew the plane out of PER on 02/11/08.
  3. Eng / maint support given by CX PER Station. Its D7/XAX my friend and not AK,operating on a different AOC.D7 maint team are composed of some very experienced people with some of them coming from SQ and MH.Its a machine, when it breaks it breaks and can affect anybody, nothing is perfect but we try our level best. The aircraft was scrutinised by both DCA and D7 QA/Air Worthiness team during the handover from Airbus to D7 in Toulouse. Please do not belittle people unless you have some very positive facts.
  4. Current operations will be : For flights to MEL and PER operated by 9M-XXA while flights to OOL and HGH by 9M-XAA Expecting delivery of 9M-XXB in Dec 08 and by Mid Dec 08 to Late Jan 09 XAX/D7/AKX ops will be flown by 3 x A330-300 with daily flights to PER,MEL,OOL.
  5. To all the MW members who were affected by the prob flt out of PER,on behalf of AirAsia X I apologise sincerely.I was the PIC for the outbound flight. Before any of you start crucifying me,let me explain what really happened. Aircraft 9M-XXA arrived from KUL 30 mins late from STA due to some minor probs ie No.2 eng start fault.later while on short finals into PER Rwy 21 experienced G Hyd fault but manage to recover the system after landing, later experienced a G Hyd leak after parking the aircraft at parking bay 55. Flt was supposed to depart from PER at 1605LT but ws delayed to 1805LT.After finding the actual culprit (warnout O ring seal in G Hyd line),carriedout system check and was cleared by Maint Eng to depart from PER.Eng start on both engs went on smoothly and positioned for Take Off from Rwy 21.On take off from PER,when FO raised the ldg gear lever ,experienced ECAM warning and message that the Lgd Gear was not uplocked and gear doors unable to raised. On climbout from PER carried out ECAM actions, also experienced both engs G Hyd EDP fault, then shutdown both EDPs in accordance with ECAM action, used backup G Elect Hyd pumps but do not have :Nose wheel steering, normal brake, auto brake but have reversers and alternate brake.Decided to RTB to PER and requested ground assistance.Aircraft landed and was shutdown on Rwy 21 ,closing it temporarily and was towed back to the apron. Later the maint engineers foundout that the sensor system within the G Hyd system had probs because of the earlier prob ,activated its safety mode (ldg gear doors unable to raise due to cavitation within the G Hyd lines),prob was solved when the CB for the system (HSMU) was recycled and a systems check carriedout plus an engine ground run was done before the aircraft was certified ok for departure. After consultations with the AirAsiaX mangement, aircraft was flown back to KUL without the pax, with the outbound pax put on any available flight out (via MH,SQ) so that if the prob occured again the pax wont be affected by it.Thank God ,nothing happend and we landed at KUL at 0345LT this morning.Aircraft was flown back at M.84.Flt D72712 departed KUL at 0600LT instead of 0030LT.
  6. Will AK bleed with the new service by FY?I dont think so,but maybe just a slight bruising yes.Its too small yet to cause any bleeding unless it gets the much rumored B734 from MH to supplement its ATR service then definitely AK will be on a comabat mode. There are a few pilots from FY now in AK and from what we gathered its not that rosy. 7. Yes ,this is very good development. With the brand new and very "canggih" ATR 72-500 hope FY will give AK a run for its money.Hopefully they stick to their business plan ,to be a community airline instead of as a low cost or boutique airline. The reason I say the FY ATR 72-500 "canggih" because last week I overhead the conversation between an FY ATR 72-500 and Butterworth Area controller that the ATR was very "advance : with GPS update nav",they were enroute to PEN from SZB while I was descending towards AOR.
  8. A340-300 from Air Canada.Expected delivery sometime in Jan 2009.Crews will be training in Dec 2008 at Airbus Training Ctr ,Toulouse, France.
  9. Havent you heard?XAX/D7 is gonna get A340-300s for flights to Europe.A330-300s for flights to Australasia/Asia/Middle East.
  10. The PCN at BDO is unable to take the A320,so for the time being this sector is serviced by QZ untila solution is reached about the PCN.Even the B733 ops out of BDO is weight limited.
  11. I believe it was skidded rather than crashed.Aircraft was 9M-AAP,had an MEL on one of its trust reverser (one trust reverser inop),capt Indon (Ex AdamAir- has since left the company) while FO in now a capt on the A320.After that incident,AK had an aircraft landed short at MYY due to windshear (capt very experienced ex-MH Capt who has sinced retired from AK)
  12. Yes ,certainly there will be fond memories on the B733.Had a couple of major incidents while flying that aircraft in AK, (Rapid decompression, failed nose gear,ACP fail),anyway its about time they retire the old faithful B733 from AK,too many MELs anfd yellow stickers, starting to be a major maintainance nightmare for the operating crews.,plus its uneconomical as compared to the A320.I flew the B733 for 3 years in AK before flying the A320/A330.
  13. The airstrip in Gerik belongs to the military (MINDEF/KEMENTAH)
  14. No such requirements or regulations exist for that, all ICAO member countries require civil registered airplanes to have the aircraft registration on both sides of the aircraft fuselage and on both on upper and lower wings,.,to have an upper and lower red rotating beacon light, have navigational lights installed on wingtips.while others are not mandotory.
  15. The A330-300X stands for extended range. This type of model is equipped with center tank for more range just like the A330-200. A330-300E is a new designation by airbus to differentiate from the earlier models (comes with LCD panels instead of CRT plus comes in with IGW / HGW - Increasd gross weight/ High Gross Weight version) In Air Asia X,9M-XAA is the earlier model (A330-301/msn 054/MTOW 215,000kg powered by GE Engines :CF6-80E1A2),whereas the new aircraft (A330-343E/msn 952/MTOW 230,000kg powered by RR Trent 772B))
