Radzi 2 Report post Posted January 25, 2009 Wonder if these are the repeated temporary measures again (as in the early 90's) before the arrival of MAS' new B738 from Boeing? Yes it is. MH is dry-leasing at least 3 B738; the -8H6 will probably come in 2010 or later. If I'm not mistaken the total will be 35 B738 ordered. I did hear MH 5xxx calling on company frequency a few nights ago, identifying as a delivery flight but never get to see the aircraft.

BC Tam 2 Report post Posted February 3, 2009 This must rank as a most significant, if not the most significant, event in Malaysian aviation There are two parallel and concurrent topics on this same subject here at MW And this is a leased bird only, can you imagine the fanfare when 'own' planes arrive
Kenneth T 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2009 One thing for sure....and that is lots of BOEING fans here....
Pieter C. 5 Report post Posted February 3, 2009 Thanks for the info. Pieter. Has she already been dressed up with a MH outfit? Yep, including the winglets !!! Will post a picture tonight (not the best, though, as taken during light rain and dull conditions) This must rank as a most significant, if not the most significant, event in Malaysian aviation There are two parallel and concurrent topics on this same subject here at MW And this is a leased bird only, can you imagine the fanfare when 'own' planes arrive Not really, as this topic is only about the delivery of the (leased) MH 738's via AMS, not about the future 737-800 routes, etc... Waiping 12 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 Maybe a little OT but does the winglet actually saves fuel?
S V Choong 4 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 Maybe a little OT but does the winglet actually saves fuel? Sure does! When the economy was good some months ago many airlines were installing winglets to curb rising fuel cost. Winglets were fitted on older models such as 737-300/400/500, 727-200Adv, 757-200 and 767-200/300s. The demand for winglets is probably lower now due to the drop in fuel demand and lower fuel prices.
