KLM flight 809 daily 777 replacing 747

Heard that Amadeus schedule is displaying the KLM 777 flight replacing 747 on the Amsterdam - Kuala Lumpur - Jakarta from 30MAR09. :rolleyes:

 

System is showing 4 weekly 777-300ER and 3 weekly -200ER service.

Well spotted !!! Indeed, KLM is planning to change from 744 to 777 effective Summer 2009 schedules :pardon:

Since we're talking about schedule changes anyhow, these cities will see the E190 of KLC as per December 2008:

 

per 01/12 - MUC/EDI

per 29/12 - MAN/ABZ

per 01/03 - STR/BRU

 

1st F100 to leave the fleet (in December): PH-KLG; for the European spotters amongst us: catch her while you can :pardon:

So the KUL 744 will go to..? HKG couple of times then.. more changes in 744 network? Hopefully back to SXM! Not that M11 is bad :pardon: but 744 on SXM... not that Corsair is bad :pardon: but just the KLM 744... :yahoo:

 

Hehe... To bad for KUL the 744 is leaving.. :( Still love the Queen more then T7.

Increasing load actually. 747 combi that is used now has a passenger capacity of only 280 while the 777-200 - 327 pax and the 777-300 - 425 pax.

 

Good news is that it is newer than the old 747 but this means be prepared to be squeezed into narrow EY seats as KLM has followed EK in cramming 10 seats abreast instead of the normal 9 seat abreast on a B777. The higher pax load and lower cost of the twin engine 777 will help KLM maintain ( I hope) it's very low fares on the KUL/CGK sector which is still best value for money!

Don't want to say increasing capacity as I've flown more full pax 744s then combi's on AMS-KUL-AMS route. 70% full pax and 30% combi.

Then KLM maybe is sending extra freighter to KUL as well starting in 2009? I know they finally get their 4th freighter which is in use at AF at the moment. And I think that one is being replaced by 1st B77F?

Yes..Good day for KLIA spotters..we can see blue wave coming in town next year..I cant wait for that moment..

 

I dont think so AF will start operate here as schedule flight..if AF can make step here, mean we near to bring back BA operate also..hehehe..

They're claimed by a Malaysian news report to have expressed interest in doing so, but that's far from confirmed.

If I remember, there was a glitch on the BA website a few months ago where KUL was on their booking list.

 

So whatever it is, it doesn't look like just a dead rumor.

Booked on KL 809/810 to travel in September, whY class. When making seat reservation last week, was informed by KLM office in KL that equipment used will be the 747 full passenger type, not the usual 747-Combi.

HKG will go from 7x to 11x a week, effective this Winter already ;)

KLM will be reducing FREIGHT capacity, however, passenger capacity will go down from 2700 to 2681 seats a week :pardon:

No changes at KUL for this Winter Season: still 744 operations...

 

19 seats less for the Summer 2009 Season is not really a reduction, but definitely a 'more economical' operation for KLM :pardon:

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will reduce the number of business class seats to 35 and increase economy seats to 292 on the 777-200 and 390 on the 777W

 

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines said it will switch to use the larger Boeing 777 from the 747-400 on its Amsterdam-Kuala Lumpur-Jakarta route beginning April 2009.

 

"Capacity will be increased on the service between Amsterdam and Kuala Lumpur by means of larger equipment. The flights will be carried out in a mix of 777-200 and 777W," Air France-KLM country manager for Malaysia, Estee Ng, told Business Times in Jakarta last week.

 

The move will see the number of business class seats reduced to 35 from 42 and economy seats increased to 292 on the 777-200 and 390 on the 777W, from 278.

For that, we may have to operate more freighter flights between Amsterdam and Kuala Lumpur as Malaysia is an important market for KLM Cargo," said Ng.

 

 

She added that KLM has no immediate plans to increase its daily frequencies between Amsterdam and Kuala Lumpur as it also code-shares on Malaysia Airlines' daily flights between the two cities.

 

"Don't forget we also offer daily non-stop flights to Europe out of Singapore under both the KLM and Air France brands. In fact, we are replacing the 777 with the new Airbus 380 on our daily (Air France) flights between Singapore and Paris in November next year. The A380's introduction will increase our current seat capacity by three times.

 

"This is in addition of our daily (KLM) flights between Singapore and Amsterdam ," she said.

 

In May 2004, KLM merged with Air France, resulting in the creation of the world's largest airline group by revenue.

 

Air France-KLM saw its August 2008 passenger load factor for Asia drop by four percentage points to 85.8 per cent than that in August 2007 on 7.1 per cent higher capacity.

 

"Load factor for the first eight months of 2008 declined 2.3 per cent to 85.1 per cent," said Ng, adding that the load factor reductions are likely to persist for the remaining months as more corporates look to reduce their travel spend due to the US subprime mortgage fallout.

 

Meanwhile, Ng said KLM has completed the scheduled upgrading of its business class seats in all its 747-400s, which includes 176 degrees lie-flat seats, superior in-flight service and one of the industry's most advanced personal entertainment systems. These new seats are available on its flights from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur and onwards to Jakarta .

 

"We started the upgrading exercise two years ago. Today, wherever our passengers fly, they can be assured of the same product," she said.

 

She added that the airline is now embarking on an upgrade programme for its economy class seats of its 747-400 fleet, which will see the aircraft being retrofitted with personal entertainment systems.

 

"This exercise will take another two to three years to complete. However, the Malaysian market does not have to wait so long (to enjoy the new product) because we are replacing the aircraft (with the new 777) next year," she said.

You guys can wait a little longer for KLM 777s according to dutch airnews.

3th KLM 77W is not expected before summer 2009 instead of February!! This will probably mean the 747s remain flying into KUL a little longer :pardon:
