  1. so keeping the A380 while the major operators are letting them go ? wonder if the "skid marks" represent hesitation or even braking efforts from an intellectual 🤣 Livery wise, it's a good combo as gold goes well with dark or red. not too sure if coloring around the door edges will last as long ... or if wings are even allowed to be painted ? missing a marketing opportunity leaving those engine nacelles blank. Athough if coloring them black with gold wau, may just be too close of a reminder to petroleum oil ?
  2. any idea what this Basler BT-67 does? seen in Bintulu at regular intervals as well. best guess for O&G, but "Bell GeoSpace" is a long way away for a retro-fitted turboprop ! does it even go "home" ?
  3. do you have a contact (preferably a instructor) who I can check with ? Also in case anyone is interested , reply from MFA :
  4. Hi all , Resurrecting this topic 8 years on ! Still haven't gotten started on PPL and with the recent COVID19 , things are going very slow work-wise. Sliver lining is a possible break (career wise) to pursue this 🙂 Re-looking into getting a PPL in Malaysia, thankfully MFA now states on their website such a course would take 3 months full-time. Wondering if anyone has other suggestions ? Open to options such as Australia as well IF there is a clear advantage in doing so.
  5. wish they could have included all the state flags or emblems & Malaysia flag into the design. far cry from the very memorable Hibiscus livery.
  6. was it 2015 when the Domestic GL was last closed ? Added the noodle bar but left out fixing the toilet / showers Silver lining was Maggi Cup noodles at B3 which IMHO are much tastier that Noodle Bar offerings. Since both lounges (and maybe SIN?) are re-opening on the same day, good chance of a new lounge style launch ?
  7. any idea what will happen to the CX lounge ? been staffed by Plaza Premium people for the past 2 years, will it become another PP lounge ?
  8. glad everyone is safe from this mishap. what happened has happened, however it seems both MABs (Malaysia Airlines & Malaysia Airport Holdings) lack prep to deal with incidents at airports other than KLIA. Sibu airport only expected to open 10/4 Monday Noon. 37 hours to clear a runway ? News reports pending "Recovery Kit" from Kuching & Kuala Lumpur. Kuching is only 4 hours drive by bus, couldn't the equipment come on a trailer ? Also didn't see the logo or titles masked over on the aircraft. Isn't this a logical step to minimize bad publicity ?
  9. so further clarification from Enrich, is that Q fare (Economy Promo) on MasWings are not eligible for sectors/miles. Yet on MH's own website http://www.malaysiaairlines.com/us/en/enrich/earn-enrich-miles.html it says 25% accrual. I usually plan my flights to keep my Enrich Gold, and this throws me off by almost 20 sectors .
  10. seems MasWings never register Enrich sector/miles since 2016 ... anyone else facing the same issue ? even more annoying, was told I could not claim for some of my MasWings tickets because it's a promo rate.
  11. don't quite understand the logic with MH's "flash" sales recently. why can't they just allocate certain number of seats at their lowest price to entice people to FIRST look at MH before anyone else ?
  12. actually on MH if you really want the whole can, order the Diet Coke or Tomato Juice
  13. well as least this brings it in line with the KUL/KCH - SIN no alcohol served policy ... even when these flights operated as "First" (till sometime 2010?) and Economy cabin. (any idea why the typical business seats were sold as "First" ?)
  14. Thank you Sofian for these exclusive shots !! For anyone worrying about the "color" of the lights, it's actually the shutter speed of the camera capturing the different phases/flicker rates (same on MH's B772). In actual experience it'll be a uniform color Or the system could be in test mode personally while I'm thrilled at the exterior (but not as much as Hibiscus) , as a frequent flier on the LHR-KUL route .... not so with the non-upgraded interior. Actually rather worried I'll be on the aircraft for 13 hours with cabin products from the last decade !!
  15. I haven't tried, but on my KUL-TPE flight, not only was the b738 filthy, my seat was also missing the audio jack the flight was completely packed since downgrade from B772 so the crew couldn't just move me to another seat. as I'm the sort that carries my own earphone + aircraft adapter, I requested for one of those MH comment cards to give my feedback hoping that it would be taken seriously. I specifically mentioned the poor state of the cabin/fittings/toilet etc. the comment card had a specific clause saying I would be contacted in 2 weeks. I passed the sealed card back to the crew who promised to have it sent. It's been 5 months now and haven't heard a thing. Sent them a picture of the hole in the armrest togther with the comment card to MH's email as a reminder a month after ... same silence
  16. thanks ! I'm looking specifically at MH 1 for early June. Called CS but was told redemption quota already fulfilled and waiting list was also full. Called a 2nd time a week later and was now told that the "system" was not showing any redemption upgrades, and waiting list is not yet open (or may not be open). Since this agent seemed friendlier, I asked to look at redemption upgrades around my date and was told these were avaible. According to the agent, my specific flight still had 57 empty in Business Class. Any idea if there is a way to see which is actually true (redemption seats already taken up or redemption no yet started) ? But most importantly, also a way to spend my points to receive the upgrade
  17. I would say free WiFi or making TM WiFi available at all Malaysia based airports would be a fantastic 1st step. KLIA toilets are good enough as it is.
  18. How does one know which C/Y/Z/ etc class is being booked via MH ? clicking around on the booking engine no longer shows any info ... mainly interested in KUL-LHR fares which are upgradeble via miles
  19. With how creative (or daring/brash/gung-ho) AirAsia is; whats stopping them from introducing a new concept to the "long haul - low cost" industry ? Spent 6 years in UK/Europe and have always been impressed with their Sleeper Trains. Applying this concept, I think getting a bunk or just a place to lie down would be awesome for a long haul flight. Add in an on-board lounge for those who want to dine/drink ... with the right ticket price (nothing higher than FSC economy) I would gladly switch to such an offering !
  20. Closing SIN lounge ? Is there an alternative OneWorld lounge in Changi T2 ? EDIT : sorry just read the MH Travel Advisory. So guests will be able to use the Premier Lounge in Changi T2. Is the lounge closure for renovation or is "Service Improvement" just a nice way to say axed ?
  21. can't they swap to cheaper food options ? "steak" on domestic business ? they could save on the (expensive) meat by making it into a casserole paired with mash. why not excel at something , over providing a "so-so" solution. the purpose of J class meal is not to get full ... its to feel special ! I think MH has missed this crucial point if they are planing to roll out this "solution" to their problems.
  22. but why do they need to buy when they can start their own ? Each state already has its own private operators ie: Sabah Air & Hornbill Airways so licensing wouldn't be the issue ... unlike FAX. looking forward to someone introducing amphibious aircraft and airship routes !
  23. Did my check-in for a flight today, and concur that things have improved (at least I was able to check in !) and nice feature to select a "mobile ticket" at the same time.
  24. https://icheck.sita.aero/iCheckWebMH/Home Trying to check in online for my early flight tomorrow ... and being taken to a new page where nothing works
  25. Hm, yes. Made another call to AA and the agent told me the only flight they could upgrade was LHR-JFK (AA metal) and it had to be AA miles. Just confused with the wording on OneWorld website : Members of each oneworld alliance airline are able to earn and redeem miles with their airline partners – so when you're ready to redeem your miles or points for a travel award, oneworld brings you more options than ever. So are my options closed for a redemption upgrade ?
