    AK Pilot

The bugger who prang 9M-AFA really dont know how to land aircraft, dont know finals tech which is taught at flight school. Also he is a bit cocky and abit arrogant, poor listenout while in flight, argued with flight instructor and also with AE when advised that his tech was wrong.had a couple of hard landings after 9M-AFA incident,me included, heard from management his days in AK is numbered.
  2. The flight that you mentioned earlier was done intentionally,it was to commemorate the retirement of 2x very senior Capts in AK (Capt KMT and Capt MN) Thanks for the info and sharp lookout.
  3. What do you expect Capt,MH/MAS is Boeing centric, when I was doing my line training on MH A333,they followed procedures from Boeing and not entirely Airbus, even some of the AEs were not in favor of that but what to do,ikut sajalah, very steep learning curve for us all but eventually they relented and allowed us to follow Airbus procedures since we are not gonna fly MH airplanes commercially. The A330-300 is a beuatiful airplane in my opinion and a joy to fly while the A320 is like a sports car but must treat it with respect, but the PW 4168 powered planes engine start sequence is slower than the GE CF6-80E1A2.
  4. So now who are they gonna blame for all the lose panels,Airod Sdn Bhd,SME Sdn Bhd,ATSC Sdn Bhd or MIAT,MAS Aero?
  5. The same thing goes for youre B787,its no different than the A350 XWB,the difference is it has already been built but is yet to fly.
  6. Its about time that they build a new airport which is safe from the surrounding terrain and have room for expansion.Have not flown to Medan/polonia for a while, but the same cannot be said about the airport at Jogjakarta,Solo,Bandung,Manado .Its nice that the new airport at Padang is pilot friendly(safe from surrounding terrain and ILS equipped) as opposed to the old airport.
  7. In any case, the pilots would have executed an emergency descent to a safer altitude and looking at the picture it looks like the area affected was around the starboard ACP (Aircond packs). To any pilot, decompression is always taken seriously,be it at FL200 or FL 400. I myself have experienced decompression once on the B733 while flying at FL350 from BKK to JHB and it happened just after passing over KBR.Luckily no one was seriously hurt. The same goes to the QF flight.
  8. When I was based at Kuantan AFB between 1997-2000,I used to visit and check out the old A4PTMs at the isolated dispersals just north of No.17/19 Sqn complex, later the C.O of Kuantan AFB ordered the scooters to be placed into the bush behind the dispersal so as not to be an eyesore to the public, its now located near the artificial lake which we called it the "Falkland islands lake",near to the bomb dump "BAT-Base Ammo Terminal".
  9. Been to Guam for a couple of times while still serving with RMAF.They have 3 airfields on Guam,Agana NAS belongs to US Navy,Guam International and Andersen AFB,HQ to 13th Air Force - no operational units based there. While at Andersen AFB saw the Arc Light memorial, dedicated to crews who fail to return from combat missions over Vietnam, names included a Brigadier General as one of those who didnt return. Guam is popular with tourists from Japan and South Korea,it has some of the most beautiful sandy beaches in the Pacific, even better than the ones in Malaysia and they are very clean inded, unlike ours.
  10. If the flight is from KUL,its almost certain its an A320.There are no more B733 in KUL or JHB.In fact about 3 years ago,we used to do charters to Guilin on the B733.Its within range for B733 and its almost certain within the range of A320.Ive flown before to Nanning,Guilin and Haikou when AXM/AK used to do charters with the B733.Even before that, used to do charters to Subic Bay,flight was at night, arrival at Subic Bay around 12 midnight and arrival back at KUL in wee hours around 0430H.Infact I did the last charter for AXM/AK to Subic Bay before they switched to Clark Field for scheduled flights.
  11. Yes En.Azizul, the B739ER is perfectly suited for flights to Xiamen or Kunming whereby the loads does not warrant an aircraft the size of A333 but has the range rather than the shorter legged B734. Almost certainly those planes will come fitted with the Aviation Partners "fuel reducing winglets" considering the current high cost of fuel. Anyway,I am almost certain our intrepid Capt Radzi will be gleeming with joy once the new planes start coming online, thats if hes not promoted to the much vaunted B772ER.
  12. Thought MH only wants the confirm 30 x B738s without the optional 25 x B738s.So which is which?
  13. Ouch, you must be pretty pissed off with AXM/AK,but were talking about XAX/D7.
  14. Off topic here, heard from the rumor mill, for flights to India AXM/AK will dedicate the -214 series (CFM-56-5B4) engines for those routes and possibility of ETOPS certified. As for XAX/D7,ETOPS certification is expected at the end of 2008.New destinations will be Tianjin,Perth,Melbourne (Avalon/Tullamarine?),daily flights to Goldcoast, and possibility to Korea and Japan.A330-343E msn 952 (seat capacity 380+/MTOW 230T) is expected in Oct 08 and the second either in late Nov or early Dec 08. XAX/D7 will get an A340-300 from Air Canada in early Jan 09 for flights to UK (Stansted?) Due to ongoing friction between AXM boss with MAS boss,MH not interested to undertake any Sim or SEP training for A330 crews from XAX,so for now,all new CCQ (cross crew qual trg) will be carriedout at Airbus Training in TLS and Sim recurrent at Zhuhai untill XAX gets its own sim in the near future. IAA/QZ gets new DFO (Capt Sonny) while Capt Erwin will oversee the induction of A320 into IAA/QZ service.
  15. The airfield on Pulau Natuna Besar belongs to TNI-AU (Indon Air Force),and not open to public without prior notice.RMAF used to land SAR aircraft during SAREX and during the search for the late Lt Wahi Annuar (A4PTM MIA) Komodo dragons only lives on Pulau Komodo and the surrounding islands near Nusa Tenggara (East of Bali - West of Timor) On flights to East Malaysia, especially if weather is permitting you can see Matak Island airfield on Pulau Annambas near Airways M758 near waypoint LUSMO and after that is Pulau Natuna Besar with Ranai AFB.
  16. Last Sat (5/7/08) ,did KUL/KBR/KUL/BKI/KUL,on the return flight from KBR,the MH pob was 40 against my total pob of 156.
  17. Those routes and destinations hardly can be called long haul routes, even by turboprop standards.Ive flown on a turboprop aircraft across the CONUS from ATL to SFO,then SFO to HNL,HNL to KJL,KJL to Guam to KUL,on delivery flight from Lockheed Martin. Long haul should be flights above a certain number of distance and duration. For turboprop aircraft, thats not much difference with a jet aircraft if flight times are 1 hour or less. But its good that "fireflyz is flying to more destinations, good for us consumers.
  18. I believe each company has its own SEP (safety emergency procedures) with regards to the carriage of sick persons as mention above.almost all will be rejected from boarding regardless of the doctors letter.
  19. Vibration levels very high on the C130J,thats one of the reason why RAAF bought the C17s.(Told by RAAF C130J crew from no.37 Sqn)
  20. Shouldnt it be "served on board" instead of "inboard - dalam/tengah", "sent youre staff ..... (past tense?) or send youre staffs, most illogical Mr Spock
  21. Thanks for youre expert opinion on D7.MSN 952 (A330-343) is expected to arrive in Oct 08.Tonight (18/6/08) Im flying to OOL.And by the way the average load factor to either OOL and HGH is over 75%,no kidding, coz Ive been flying on MSN 054 (9M-XAA) since Nov 07 to OOL.
  22. Definitely you dont know how law enforcement works in the high seas. The RMN main job is to defend against external threat to Malaysia from the maritime perspective whereas the Marine Police is for inshore enforcement or littoral waters. The Navy does not have the power to arrest and charge civilians in court, that can only be made by the RMP,so here comes the Coast Guard or MMEA.Then the Navy can concentrate on major combattant vessels such as Frigates,Corvettes ,Submarines and Multipurpose Support Vessels and let the MMEA get those patrol boats and OPVs.Also the other responsibility for MMEA is Maritime rescue. The mission that is envisaged for the CL 415MP will not only be maritime patrol but will also encompass rescue. When they do a goverment purchase of this magnitude ofcourse they will include a total training package, from operations to maintainance crew.Previuosly the RMAF had operated amphibuos airplanes (2 x Grumman Albatross operated by No.1 Sqn) If you want to know what a waste of money is; the buying of the ACJ 9M - NAA and letting a private company run it and charge the goverment for its usage. only now just about to upgrade if any public transport systems in country ie LRT,Monorail,Busses just now wants to start double tracking project for KTM after the cost have inflated (southern portion only) no rail transport for the so called second link to Penang (instead of having a public viewing area in the middle of the bridge?) wasting so much goverment funds for the refurbishment of the Parliament building but forgot to change the electrical wiring.
  23. Thanks for youre factual timings for the sector KUA - KUL.Let others judge by themselves whether they would take a flight or drive.Personally,Ive driven from KUA to KUL on weekends during my tour of duty in RMAF Kuantan, back then there was no ECE,and the drive was supposed to be 5 hours but we usually do it in 3 .5 hours.Any ways, anybody going to KUA on 27/6/08?I will be the PIC on that flight, doing KUL-KUA-KUL-SIN-KUL,if there is no changes to the roster,it seems the roster is getting to fluid these days at AK and D7.
  24. Not much for A345,poor load, cant take any underbelly cargo due to underfloor taken up by aux tank unless in pure premium flight (bussiness class suite).Thats why Air Canada got rid of theirs earlier and now TG.
  25. obviuosly a major malfunction during typing.meant to be B777-200ER instead of wrong fingering went for -400.
