Ashmil Abd Ghani 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2009 Hello Good Day to Ladies and Gentleman... I believe this is first thread for AOR...1 of isolated airport in Malaysia where not body want to spot due to all domestic flight,,beside TUDM/RMAF Pilatus training flight... But Royal Brunei A340-300 had landing here about 2 years ago,,during that time the runway 04/22 still 1.6km, which before extension project had began...Now the runway length is 2.7km (appox 9k ft)... So I was there during last weekend (18 & 19 Jul 09) to participate with others MW's simmer for AOR DCA Open Day 09...I initially join Uncle Norman to this event for photograph purpose and 1st trip to Alor Setar,,not as FS player.. Here some pictures to share with you all... AOR/WMKA ATC...Operating hour from 0600LT to 0000LT with 3 working shift 2 controller per shift... Here how the Upper deck of AOR ATC look like... The controller very busy,,to entertain guest/visitor on tower also on apron/final approach... Also the clock base on GMT time... Front desk... Daily, 7 commercial movement daily..3 MH,2 AK and FY respectively... Weather, wind speed and other check... Manual record on each movement... The big log book is belong to TUDM/RMAF to record all the training Pilatus while another 1 to record non-military movement such as commercial airline and flying school.. Could be once in life view from tower for us... Malaysian 1209 out bound for KUL/WMKAA...not really good load, only 98 POB compared to MH1208 148 POB... En Mohd Khizir Mohinadin give clearance to Malaysian flight 1209 clear to takeoff from RWY04... View of AOR with new terminal and Alor Setar town as background... Will continue with TUDM Pilatus-7 MK II acrobatic and formation air show...

But been to the old AOR a few times to fetch my Sarawakian roommate nonetheless. Nice sequence of event of the AK flight. They really have a very short turnaround time. Mohd Azizul Ramli 2 Report post Posted August 1, 2009 May I know you been as student of UUM in what year??But I believe during that time you not hear this words kan "Now EveryOne Can Fly" and "Everyday Zero Fare". I was there from May 1999 until March 2002 (was at Kuala Nerang in Padang Terap a year before for my Matriculation Program). AK was relatively new back then and MH was pretty much at their pre-awakening/pre-BTP period. The old AOR terminal, if we can put it in one word, is simply plain UGLY, world's apart contradiction with its current state. Out of curiosity, if there is a fire situation in the nearby villages, can the MAHB fire brigate unit comes to the rescue? The vehicles look new as if they were never being used before (maybe apart from doing routine emergency trainings and giving water canon salute, if there's any). Radzi 2 Report post Posted August 3, 2009 This little monster came 'equipped' with licence plate and road tax sticker. So, she's road-worthy, I see... Can it support local fire-brigade for nearby fire emergencies? It will be interesting to find out the engine capacity and the road tax amount (if personally owned) of this tender and the Dodge Ram truck. To be able to support such an acceleration at those weight, I'm sure they are at least equipped with a big V8. Also those airport AFRS will not be able to support domestic fire brigade as the equipment are different. They are more specialized for aircraft crash and rescue. The people might be able to help, though.
