Teoh Z Yao 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2005 always say hello to the local spotter...they sure get you some how through their lens!!! Happy TK... aaaahhhhhhh.....a runway to myself. ..."...hello tower...i already ready one....lets go..lets go llaaaaarrrrr........."" had to wait 2 minutes, wake turbulence of the SriLankan...can still see him climbing.. 14933[/snapback] Now I always align my plane with the centerline for takeoff... This sight is familiar to me... but its all simulation! What a treat of a real takeoff alignment from TK! Great! Thanks, TK!! the world is small in a 777.............. Flying so low...? Heading 146 at 2100ft? Rwy 14L approach I suppose... TK when you take shots, does your captain eagerly allow you or is he actually reluctant...?
Attan 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2005 Thanks a million, TK. I must confess I'll have severe withdrawal symptoms if and when you ever stop uploading those pics. Indirectly we should thank the Captains too for not being petty about the camera use. Just some quick questions: What IAS do you set for your autothrottle before takeoff? With your autothrottle armed for takeoff, do you put the speed button on before or after the takeoff? (I presume you activate TOGA for takeoff). If it is after the takeoff, when exactly do you put it on and what if the actual IAS has exceeded the speed you set earlier? What heading is set on the AP for takeoff? Runway heading or the first leg after takeoff? Thanks and many happy landings.
Walter Sim 1 Report post Posted November 18, 2005 (edited) perhaps if you dont mind me answering, IAS for takeoff is usually set at V2 speed. After Activating TOGA, the plane should roll, and after takeoff, the autopilot is activated. Well, the SpeedHold button if thats what you mean is not used, because VNAV is activated on ground, VNAV controls the climb and the speed according to the pre programmed FMC. After takeoff around 400agl, teh autopilot is armed, and the plane starts climbing according to the preprogramed speed in the FMC For takeoff, the heading is set accoring to the runway heading. Well these are my two cents, to Mr TK, do advise if im wrong... Edited November 18, 2005 by Walter Sim

TK 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2005 Mr Attan... Walter has explained perfectly...hhhmmmm....interesting. V2 is the speed at the window. Runway heading is what we set.. One airport, Newark..we set to the first initial turn heading. after take off at 500 feet, we turn and select "heading select".......i hate the take off at Newark, the Newark Seven SID. but it was fun as you can really wack the plane during the turn immediately after lift off and the second turn after 4 dme from the ILS... its fast, messy...radio call was like go here and go there and all the local airliners are in the sky!!!!!!!!!! Yes VNAV and also LNAV is "armed" on the ground. 50 feet RA...LNAV 400 feet RA...VNAV and the FMA will change "thrust reff" and "VNAV speed" minimum autopilot engagement....200 feet. 1500 feet, set climb thrust, auto selected as we already at Take off page 2. 3000 feet, bug up the speed...auto selected as from the same page as above.. This is good for noise abatement take off type 1. all we do is verify and clean the plane. to continue of my Pudong trip... what a long terminal...you think KLIA main terminal is a long walk... PVG is longer!!! I really AM in PUDONG!!!

TK 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2005 I have been operating to Both Shanghai airport, Hongqiao and Pudong.. Like our airport in Malaysia, if we did not build KLIA, i dont know where to land.... From inside the terminal, no individual waiting lounge, just like Hong Kong airport, after Passport check...security check...then the passenger will have the best space to roam around....just that dont forget to go to your right gate.. nice view from inside too,, and also outside...can see me in the bright vest.. Walter Sim 1 Report post Posted November 19, 2005 fantastic TK!! See in the last picture, the tarmac apparently looks to be wavy. Probably an optical Illusion from the mirror. Pudong looks very clean and elegant in there, and such vending machines are coool, hope KUL have a lot of them and charge the drinks at a acceptable price.
