Izanee 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2006 ku started flights to kul in 89/90....stopped after the 1st gulf war when kuwait got invaded by iraq. they then started flights to sin, cgk, bkk but omitted kul for some reason. restarted in 94 but that didn't last long. now starting again...lets hope they stay longer this time. mea flew 747 flights once weekly on the bey-kul-syd route codesharing with mh's 2x weekly 777 service. hope they fly to kul as well with their 330s. turkish flew to kul in the 80s/early 90s with A310. stopped for a few years....then resumed services in 99 - this time with A310/A340. they suspended their ist-bkk-kul service as they were more interested in ist-bkk-hkg. M N Fairizuan 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2006 Russia's Aeroflot to resume direct flights to Malaysia next year: report ( 3:00 p.m. ) 2006/9/15 KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) Russia's Aeroflot will likely resume direct flights next year from Moscow to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's national news agency reported Friday. Four foreign carriers _ Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Qatar and Emirates _ currently fly from Moscow to Malaysia's largest city, but none operate direct flights, Tourism Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor told Malaysian journalists Thursday while visiting Russia. Tengku Adnan, quoted by Bernama news agency, said Aeroflot Chief Executive Valery Okulov has assured him that the flights would be launched once Aeroflot takes delivery of Boeing and Airbus planes that it has ordered within the next several months. Aeroflot stopped flying to Malaysia in the early 1990s because of congestion problems at the Southeast Asian nation's old international airport, Tengku Adnan said. Malaysia's tourism ministry expects 20,000 Russian tourists this year, Tengku Adnan said. Tengku Adnan was in St. Petersburg on Friday and other ministry officials traveling with him couldn't immediately be reached to confirm the report.
Pieter C. 5 Report post Posted September 15, 2006 Tengku Adnan, quoted by Bernama news agency, said Aeroflot Chief Executive Valery Okulov has assured him that the flights would be launched once Aeroflot takes delivery of Boeing and Airbus planes that it has ordered within the next several months. That may take a while, as the expected order for a split-order of 787's and A350's may take a few more weeks and than you still have to wait for the deliveries... <_>
