A MALAYSIAN Airlines flight officer has been arrested in Sydney disembarking from a plane with a quantity of drugs.

 

The Australian understands police and customs officers were waiting for the man when the plane landed earlier today. The drugs were revealed during a search of the man’s bags, a source said.

 

A spokeswoman for the Australian Federal Police declined to provide details, saying only: “As this relates to an ongoing investigation it’s not appropriate for the AFP to comment at this stage.”

 

Malaysian Airlines did not return calls from The Australian.

That is a horrible risk to take ... and could definitely end his professional flying career.

 

If found guilty, it could result in MAS crew members undergoing more stringent checks next time they land in Australian airports, not just Sydney.

I think that if he is convicted by Australian courts, the Malaysian govt. should request co-operation from the Aussie govt to send him back to Malaysia for trial too. That will show that we do not take these things lightly.

He was fined by Australian court but is still employed by MAS. For this case, he will be terminated. It seemed that he has history.

A Malaysian pilot has faced a Sydney court accused of importing 1.4kg of heroin and 5kg of methamphetamine into Australia.

I don't know how much MH's FO gets paid, but if one does not manage their finances properly, they'll run into financial problem sooner or later however high they get paid.
