KC Sim 2 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 That is a horrible risk to take ... and could definitely end his professional flying career. If found guilty, it could result in MAS crew members undergoing more stringent checks next time they land in Australian airports, not just Sydney. flee 5 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 I think that if he is convicted by Australian courts, the Malaysian govt. should request co-operation from the Aussie govt to send him back to Malaysia for trial too. That will show that we do not take these things lightly.
Bhai 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 It is a shame if this story is genuine and be reported in malaysia media. Despite the bad influence of MAS growth, now with this matter the glory name will be affected :-(

zamim 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 Posted Today, 04:15 PM If memory serves me, there was one occasion when a crew got into trouble for possession of child porn, am I right? What a disgrace. He was fined by Australian court but is still employed by MAS. For this case, he will be terminated. It seemed that he has history.
Radzi 2 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 Looks pretty bad. Pilot faces Sydney court on drug charges. A Malaysian pilot has faced a Sydney court accused of importing 1.4kg of heroin and 5kg of methamphetamine into Australia. Thagu Supramaniam, 30, who could face life imprisonment if convicted, did not apply for bail when he appeared at Sydney Central Court on Thursday.

S V Choong 4 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 (edited) He's a 747 FO - at that salary level how much can you spend to have finance troubles? You never know mate.... one round of Genting or Crown Casino... you can break your arm or leg...! It also depends on how extravagant one chooses to live his lifestyle. If he has a family, I feel sorry for them, especially the kids... Imagine what kind of a precedent he will serve for them. Y. J. Foo 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 He's a 747 FO - at that salary level how much can you spend to have finance troubles? I don't know how much MH's FO gets paid, but if one does not manage their finances properly, they'll run into financial problem sooner or later however high they get paid. Radzi 2 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 Why do the press like to translate FO as Flight Officer? There is no such thing! We all know it should be First Officer.

If he has a family, I feel sorry for them, especially the kids... Imagine what kind of a precedent he will serve for them. Agreed. Even a bank can fold up overnight, let alone a salaried 747 FO. Way too many people spend beyond their means while some take excessive risk (gambling, investment etc).
Min Chun 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 That's a dumb move regardless of what was the actual reason behind it for him to take such a big risk.
