Radzi 2 Report post Posted September 30, 2009 Shooting with Norman, Alan Bligh and Kader from the touchdown zone. Initial flypast. Landing shots. Thunderbird 1 Thunderbird 2 Thunderbird 3 Thunderbird 4 Thunderbird 8, the only 2-seater in the group. Unfortunately I forgot to make the necessary exposure adjustments, therefore all the pictures are washout. And with the successive landings, even jpegs are running into the buffer, there is simply no time to check on the exposure accuracy.
S M Tang 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2009 I can imagine how fast those birds land one after one another until you don't have time to check for accuracy. Where is the best place to spot in SZB on Saturday? Go into TUDM or the usual spotting places?

I can imagine that there are probably 2 or more aircraft was on the runway rolling after touchdown.

Gavin Andrew David 6 Report post Posted September 30, 2009 Can we create a thread in Anjung Tinjau for these Thunderbirds , then all the pics from here can go specifically into that thread Easier for everyone to find it then
RoyRX 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2009 (edited) Tail numbers in case anybody is interested. 1 - 92-3880 2 - 91-0413 3 - 92-3898 4 - 92-3888 5 - 92-3908 6 - 92-3890 7a - 91-0392 7b - 92-3896 7c - 92-3881 8a - 91-0479 8b - 91-0466 So there are 3 Thunderbird 7 and 2 Thunderbird 8. Hi Radzi, there are actually only 8 birds in all. One of the C-17s had a T-Bird No. 14 marking on it though. 1 92-3880 2 91-0413 3 92-3881 4 92-3888 5 92-3908 6 92-3896 7 91-0392 8 91-0466 (F-16D) However do note that the numbers on the aircraft can be sticked on and pealed of easily, depending on aircraft availability. In Townsville over the weekend, the single F-16D was spotting No. 5 markings but in the main display and the open day, it was in No.8 markings. flee 5 Report post Posted October 1, 2009 (edited) That fast? Don't they need to obey the minimum radar separation? I can imagine that there are probably 2 or more aircraft was on the runway rolling after touchdown. Display teams usually take off two by two and land in line, one behind the other - like on aircraft carriers. Normal civil aviation rules are not observed by military aircraft, especially jet fighters! I just noticed that the pilots name is by the side of the canopy. Nice! Yes, this is a normal USAF and US Navy practice. The Thunderbirds squadron is not just a display one - if need be, they also have to serve in combat during wartime. So they follow normal USAF procedures. Edited October 1, 2009 by flee
Waiping 12 Report post Posted October 1, 2009 Nice shot with excellent weather! Do you think 250mm would be sufficient?
Norman 1 Report post Posted October 1, 2009 Nice shot with excellent weather! Do you think 250mm would be sufficient? 250mm is ok for the air display, unless you want to shoot close-up into the cockpit during the aerobatic... That one you need 600mm and above. But for the shots yesterday, most of us using less than 200mm.. BTW... anyone know what's the schedule for today?... Seems that aerodrome closure between 1450-1520
kaybin 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2009 (edited) Good, I'm having 200mm, I can join the club! Wanna ask, I notice the video was shot quite high from the ground, did you guys brought a 6ft ladder? Edited October 1, 2009 by kaybin
