Wong Kok Choy 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 Hi everyone, friend of mine gave me this link which seems to indicate the Thunderbirds are coming to KL: http://thunderbirds.airforce.com/schedule.html Not sure if it's an aerial demonstration or static one as I could not find any information about the event on google. Hope I didn't place it in the wrong section of the forum

flee 5 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 They won't be around during LIMA but are in KL on 3 October. If they display at SZB, the place will see traffic jams cos it will be a Saturday.

From google earth I measured it is about 45km... Hello... Mr ..errr.. nvm Don't think there's a direct bus service from KUL to SZB taxi is safe bet to go direct... But as it has been for the past few years when there's airshow in SZB, the RMAF will open their airbase to public. Really hope they'll do the same for Thunderbird.. When was their last visit here?... I only remembered they performed in the heavy haze over Subang...

mokhzani 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2009 Twice actually. 1st the early 90s and later in 1995 or 1996. The latter one is where as Norman stated above where they have to cancel the performance because of haze. But their practice sessions were conducted in fine weather. Azrin A 2 Report post Posted September 14, 2009 (edited) There are bus service from LCCT to Subang Jaya (hope my memory doesn't fail me here) , thereafter take a cab to SZB. Or use ERL Express to KL Sentral, thereafter use U81 RapidKL bus service from there and stop at SZB. Edited September 14, 2009 by Azrin A
ASIA Images 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2009 Thank you my friends... I am still choosing between Bangkok and Subang. So, except thunderbirds, what else Malaysian Air Force might put on static (or even air) display?
MIR 2 Report post Posted September 14, 2009 (edited) Thank you my friends... I am still choosing between Bangkok and Subang. So, except thunderbirds, what else Malaysian Air Force might put on static (or even air) display? Hrmm..hope they'll set some displays similar during the Patrouille de France Asian Tour 2004, Subang. RMAF placed their F/A 18, Mig-29 & a Hawk on static display in 2004. There was also a Pitts Special aerobatic display, helicopter show by Eurocopter, paragliding and skydiving demonstration. Should be 1994 then, 'cos I remembered I just got back from a short stint in England but I missed the practice session, but remembered they did take-off in the haze and we just heard the roaring, before they came back to land... Gotta to look for the old photos back...

May be this forumers can organize a small get together after the air show. I contacted the military attaché at the US embassy in KL but he did not have any information at all. He said best to check the RMAF website. Maybe we should monitor the airspace closure announcements around SZB.
