Singapore Airlines to Resume Non Stop Flights to the US

Recommended Posts

Don't think I'm a fan of ULH. Long-haul as it is can be pretty tiring already.

Maybe because mostly I travel in economy :D

ULH is OK for those who can sleep soundly during a flight. For those who can't, it will be very tiring.

ULH routes seem to be growing with United starting a San Fransisco - Singapore service 1st June 2016 and Emirates a Dubai - Auckland service 1st March 2016. They will use Boeing 787 and 777-200LR equipment respectively.

GC distances are SFO - SIN 7339 nm and DXB - AKL 7668 nm.

Singapore Airlines to fly non-stop Airbus A350 to San Francisco

Singapore Airlines will this week announce non-stop flights between Singapore and San Francisco.

The new direct route will see the airline's factory-fresh Airbus A350 jet pressed into service on a flight estimated to take some 16 hours, although there's currently no start date for the inaugural non-stop service.

Nice to see Singapore Airlines revamping their US West Coast operations. Arrival timings into Singapore are much better than existing ones for SQ15 (SFO-ICN) and SQ11 (LAX-NRT).

The revamping of their operations at LAX also mean better utilization of aircraft and crew.

They may disappoint a few with the removal of A380 services to LAX. But there's nothing wrong at all with SQ's premium-heavy B77Ws.

As for GRU, the writing was always on the wall.

Mind boggling, 19 hours :shok:

Will it be business class only as per SQ's previous ULR offering ?

Or will they be dispensing special survival kits to Y pax (should they dare to undertake the mission) ?! :)

On previous non-stop flight on A345 ULR, a dedicated space was even provided in case pax could not make it (i.e. dead).

Nonstop to LAX from 2 Nov 2018

https://www.ausbt.com.au/singapore-airlines-launches-non-stop-flights-to-los-angeles

- 3x weekly until 9 Nov

- Daily from 9 Nov

- 10x weekly (!) from 7 Dec

Meanwhile, SFO gets an additional 3 weekly nonstop with the A359ULR.

So.. any volunteers to talk about how MH should expand its network and resume US flights? Maybe with a fleet and CASK analysis? :p
