are they even suppose to fly with one winglet??

they can. it has happened before.

winglet is small part of plane, no point taking the whole thing out of service while replacing winglet, waste $$

hmm looks weird.. but an eye opener. Will want to know the reason behind this, perhaps santa claus' reindeer ate them when santa doing trial flight. His sleigh baru fix GE Engine..

Imagine in the plane

"mummy mummy, where did that thing go?"

Anyways, will it draw anxiety for the passenger, seeing one wing is diffrent from the other.

paper clip........ he he he he...

The may face some % of penalty without a winglet...few percent has to be top up from the sector fuel with the drag penalty. Not much...

I have flown where we need to have the APU on...the APU door creates drag...some fuel penalty. So we have to cater for that. Meaning, we take a few % extra fuel. They have the info in the Despatch Deviation Guide.. or Minimum equipment list...its a big book, heavy and in there will be some few meassures where if an aircraft has to be despatch with items not operational....

Pieter , one more question

whats that round thing towards the end of the upper deck

If you're talking about that round patch next to the windows... it looks like the former place where the KLM/Northwest "Worldwide reliability" sticker used to be.

hehehe: worldwide RELIABILITY: that's why the winglet was removed hehehe

of a serious note: will check the systems tomorrow and will advise...

Azahan,

If I remember well: BFA was the 2nd 744 delivered to KLM...BFB was the 1st one...

As Radzi would say, S V Logic ..

Really? That sounds more like M.R.D. logic to me.
