  1. IFS the bunga yellow but the background purple/blue
  2. The grooming rules are the same for MH. As for the uniforms, all the Stewards have the same uniform. The exception is that the In-Flight Supervisor IFS does not use the in-flight jacket (the ugly jacket with the songket lapel). female crew also have same kebaya (green) but female IFS have a kind of purple/blue kebaya. Rank is denoted by the stripes on the name tags. IFS 3 and half, Chief 3, LS 2 and Flight Steward/stewadess 1
  3. I was booked to return on MH from LGK to KUL on Monday. However, on Sunday afternoon around 2.30pm I called MH call centre and asked if a flight was available that evening. I was told that a flight was available at 1830 and changed my booking. I was advised that I had to be at the airport latest 1700 to change my ticket. During check-in I was told that the flight was retimed to 1955! Staff told me that a later flight had been cancelled due to low load factor and my flight was retimed to combine pax from both flights. This is no way close to the 12 hour delay mentioned but I didn't appreciate the extra hours at the airport. BTW the flight didn't depart till 2010.
  4. I can offer to give you the same tour minus the plane ride for only RM1,000 hehehehe No matter what we think, there are sure to be some people with lot's of money who will pay for that tour.
  5. Hahaha! I have to admit when I saw the original version way back in the 90's, I thought it was brilliant. But this is so funny!
  6. My last trip ( about a month after the security scare ) I was in the queue for 1 hour ........aduh! Heathrow is horrible if you have a connecting flight at another terminal and I hate having to wait in the duty free lounge waiting to find out the gate number. Queue to get into terminal, queue at check-in, queue at security and queue for take-off......... but queue to take-off not bad cos can get to look at planes
  7. I think the cargo airline the writer is refering to is the Gading Sari ( one crashed in KCH )that operate the flights for Pos Malaysia. Are these airlines/aircrafts operating to the same standard that are expected of Malaysian registered aircrafts?
  8. Following is in the Opinion section of The Star today....... Wednesday May 30, 2007 Not so rosy times for aviation community IT IS great to see that many corporate leaders are starting to embrace the aviation industry all over again. Needless to say most of them are buying executive jets and helicopters to help them move around quicker and more effectively. However it is not all rosy and good for the aviation community. Presently, a great number of these aircrafts and helicopters are not registered in the country and are being operated by foreigners. We have aircraft permanently based in the country but registered in Bermuda, the Philippines, Indonesia, United States and Australia. Our neighbours, Thailand and Indonesia, do not allow privately operated foreign-registered aircraft to be based permanently on their soil. Foreign-registered aircraft cannot operate within their country with local citizens on board unless it is an international flight. A foreign-registered aircraft can only fly on a one-off basis and every flight will be identified with its own flight clearance number. What makes matters worst is that cargo aircraft operate for more then six months doing revenue flights without any assertive action being taken by the relevant ministry. 9. 10. When you sound proof a room, you seal all the windows etc. which means that there will be no ventilation so it is fair to have the room air-conditioned. Remember the monks live on donations and hand-outs from the public. The additional electricity bill will be a burden to them. I try not to simply pass judgement on people and situations that I don't have all the facts.......cos Karma can come back and bite you in the ass.
  11. back when I was flying, the local airports that have inflight catering were KUL, PEN, KCH,MYY and BKI. Some smaller airports like JHB, LGK etc only had catering for the first flight out in the morning and this was usually from a local hotel. This mainly consisted of breads and fruits for the breakfast served in business class and ice for EY. From my point of view, the most tasty catering was in KCH and BKI. The main course wasn't as dry as KUL and the soft rolls were really nice and soft not like the hockey balls from KUL.
  12. I would love to see an order from FAX/Firefly (who ever ends up operating RAS) for the Q400's. Ok now those of you who like the ATR family can now say I am wrong! Just nak jadi batu api
  13. CFM engines power the B737 and is also one of the engines that can be chosen to power the A320
  14. The inflight service and cabin crew department were set-up by a few ex-MH staff. A few senior cabin crew who took the VSS fro MH have also just joined them. Expect superb service!
  15. My 75 year old aunt travelled on EK back to LHR on her own. I paid for "meet and great service" plus access to the Maharba lounge. They did a great job, making sure that she made a connecting flight etc. The best part was the staff at the maharba lounge remembered her from a month earlier and took great care. They even recalled my name and me telling them to take care of her on her return flight. That's why EK is one of my favourite airlines.
  16. I think it was in 1990. I was a crew on a flight from NRT that had to be diverted to PEN because of this incident.
  17. 835 ppl include people who are acting as Passengers, the firefighters, ambulance personnel, medical, airport staff etc. The fire is usually a simple mock-up that is set alight. all airports have to conduct a drill from time to time.
  18. In the NST today KLIA drill turns to real emergency SEPANG: A drill held at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport turned into a real-life emergency situation yesterday. Several people had to be rushed to the hospital for heat stroke and smoke inhalation. The drill was organised by Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd to test the airport’s emergency services in the event of an air crash. A total of 835 volunteers took part in the exercise. However, halfway through the exercise, which started at 11.40am, one of the participants lost consciousness under the midday heat. The victim, who had been "rescued" from the aircraft and was lying near the "crash site", did not respond to repeated questions from her colleague. The colleague then raised the alarm. Rescue personnel rushed to her aid and carried her to another area. However, there was confusion when the woman was brought to the treatment area. A nurse started treating the woman for her fake wounds. It was only after a journalist repeatedly told the nurse that the woman had lost consciousness that she realised what had happened. At least four other women also fainted while participating in the exercises. Later, at the KLIA building, Malaysia Airports (Sepang) Sdn Bhd senior general manager (operations) Datuk Azmi Murad said he was aware of only one volunteer who had lost consciousness and later taken to the hospital. He added that a fireman and an airport worker had suffered from smoke inhalation and had been taken to the hospital.
  19. Dank U Pieter! The Dutch lady looks great. It has been a long time since I flew on a F50. Miss it so much. However my favourite is still the F27. My first flight a passenger was on one and also later as a crew. I will never forget the sound of the Rolls-Royce Dart engines and huge windows. Miss it so much.
  20. Maybe they have realised that the Low-Cost segment will make up the bulk of that 50 million pax. With the fast growth of AK maybe that 50 million may come even sooner.
  21. Tajuddin Ramli is the person responsible for all the mess that MH is in now. He "raped" MH.
  22. 9M-MGJ delivered to MH on 11/12/1990 and leased to Pelangi on 17/11/1994. Returned to MH on 3/04/1997. 9M-MGK delivered to MH on 31/03/1992 and leased to Pelangi on 17/11/1994. Returned to MH onn 2/12/1997
  23. It might just work. F50 is just the right size aircraft for such routes. A prop aircraft is much cheaper to operate than a B737. Flying 50 pax which should not be that hard to fill, is alot better than flying 50 pax on a B737-400. Sectors like PEN/KBR/PEN, KBR/AOR/KBR were operated in the past MH utilising the F27 until the early 90's when it decided to have only B737 operations in the peninsular. It then found that it couldn't fill the B737 on those routes and stopped the flights. It's operations will be lean, it will just use ground handling, engineering etc from MH. With a different cost centre from MH it's cost will be low enough to make money from so called lost making sectors. As AK has shown, if your cost are low and have the right sized aircraft, you can make money from most routes.
  24. When I was working on the F27, we use to fly KUL/IPH/PEN, PEN/KBR/AOR/KBR/PEN
