  1. I thought Ranau use to have an airstrip too. And Ranau is just 30 minutes drive from Kundasang.
  2. Very nice pictorial Ibrahim. And very sad to see Sg Batu Pahat airstrip in such conditions. some years ago, out of curiousity, I tried to find the place but to no avail. It is also quite far from any human settlement right? Anyway, the 'harum manis' manggo... A MUST TRY!!! Best in the world
  3. A lesser known/reported news about RMAF, is that some of their F-5 are active flying again, from Butterworth. I'm not sure whether they are the upgraded F-5E or the RF-5F. Sadly they like to to do low level flying around Butterworth at night!
  4. Thanks for the photos of Keningau ex airport. It is not far from the main road Tambunan-Keningau-Tenom right? Radzi, I think Keningau is 3 hours from KK if you take the 'old' road, through Tambunan.
  5. Happy 2nd anniversary MalaysianWings. Can't wait to attend the 3rd anniversary!
  6. Wah wah wah wah , seronoknyeeeer korang semua [seronok = enjoy, korang = you, semua = all] The food, I bet that Pieter's visit is an excuse for Ewan and Meor to MAKAN BESAR!!! BTW, Pieter, welcome back to Malaysia. Hope you enjoy Visit Malaysia Year 2007.
  7. Nice pictures Syamsuri. Now, waiting for AOR RMAF pictures.
  8. The definition of LCC also differ. I've heard some quarters doesn't specify Lion Air as an LCC
  9. That is very sad to hear. Maybe it happened during monsoon season.
  10. Thanks guy for the comments. I will post more pics of TGG in Monday or Tuesday.
  11. I was in TGG for nearly a week last week conducting a student motivatonal camp in Universiti Darul Iman Malaysia. Although busy with work schedule, I can't resist to take a break for some spotting around TGG, while enjoying Terengganu's delicacies. As spotted not far from the passenger terminal building Then its time for landing, to get new troops. Indonesian made... and the RMAF is very satisfied with it The next day, from the Northern part of the airport perimeter Thanks for viewing. Some more pictures to come next week from TGG. The sky has been clear blue in Terengganu.
  12. It takes two or more "running-around-the-house-and-up-and-down-the-stairs" children to humble even the toughest men
  13. Wow... is this the same humble yet single English teacher that I know from Tamparuli?
  14. Currently RMAF have 2 C130 for inflight refueling. The 4 Airbus400M that Malaysia ordered will automatically have in-flight refueling capabilities, not to mention a higher and faster flight performance. The MiG31 radar is BIG, cannot put into MiG29 or Su30. Not sure about its capabilities though.
  15. I think the RMAF do know what they really need to have to be the most modern and effective air force in th eregion. They have highly trained officers who are knowledgeable and exposed to the latest requirements of modern day air force. But the RMAF can only inform to the government of their needs, it is the government that really sign the paychecks. The question is, is the Ministry/Minister of Defence really listening to the RMAF for that matter? Who actually dictate arms and weapons purchase in Malaysia, the Armed Forces (Army, RMAF & RMN) or the civilian advisors/consultants of the Ministry/Minister of Defence (whom one is at least is in jail now due to a certain Mongolian model murder case)
  16. Wow, nice discussion about the Su30MKM, with at least 2 new guys on board MW. Welcome. I was away for nearly 2 weeks for work. I drove past RMAF Gong Kedak airbase in Kelantan a week ago, many new apartment housing blocks can be seen in their final phase of construction. Can't wait to do real spotting of the Sukhois aroung the rural countryside of Pasir Puteh. I understand the Su30MKM will be shipped above and Antonov from Russia, just like the way they delivered the MiGs back then. Unlike the Hornets which did a halfway round the world journey ferry flight. Anyway, I pity the RMAF crews based in Gong Kedak, no urban styles of lifestyles. Even McDonalds is 70km away in Kota Bharu. However, great 'ikan bakar' is just a stone throw away! On another topic, I think the next thing the RMAF really needs is the AEW&C platform and new CSAR helicopters, where rumours have it that tha RMAF have chosen the NH90 (good!).
  17. Wow, this RMAF General is delivering his message to the US. US Congress have already agreed in principled allowed the FA18E/F sale to Malaysia, but this time Malaysia won't buy unless the package comes with full weapons and software suite including the AMRAAM and newest Sidewinder-X missiles with helmet mounted targetting and AESA radars. Interestingly, Singapore will get the F15SG with AMRAAM and although no AESA radars yet, they can easily convert to AESA when the need arises. I've been following the RMAF's arms purchase statements, and everytime they say something related, they never fail to mention their interests in the FA18E/F, despite being armed with the MiG29Ns and recently the Su30MKM. Its gives us a hint as to who really decided on the MiGs and Sukhois purchases, Ministry/Minister of Defence or RMAF themselves. Another thing the RMAF have mentioned but never purchased by the government, is the need for AEWC aircrafts. As for the F5E/F, yes, they have been flying again over the skies of Butterworth.
  18. B 737 NG Because of reasons others have previously stated here and also because I've never been in one (thus an opportunity to fly in one)
  19. GOOD GOOD GOOD... REALLY GOOD PLACE TO STUDY. NO NIGHT LIFE... THEN, STUDY LARRRR Betul tak Ewan? Anyway, why some of you guys don't like Labuan? I'm even thinking of going for some holiday there with my wife by next year (of course, with some short excursion to Brunei and BKI/MYY)
  20. I see the same way too, another Asmara Air. Sometime I wonder whether there is more to the announcement of new airline... possibly to attract media attention to their company, or a smokescreen to detract their business competitors. Rozhan, about the fourth floor boys, well it is Kelantan, fourth floor doesn't matter (as for now, and hopefully forever!), it is the Tok Guru who can call the shots
  21. Great... should I migrate to the Emirates? Can't say the grass is greener there though... only sands!
  22. The Mi17, look like as if it have only 4 blades instead of the usual 6
  23. Very nice of you Pieter... thank you. My first time seeing pics of Birmingham airport. Didn't know they call E-195 as 'jungle jet'. And why PIA A310 banned in EU, any explanation? Any pics of Birmingham itself?
  24. They are just senator... no need to worry about what they say...
  25. Hope everything will be smooth again. A big thank you to Gavin and the team for the effort. I was actually worried that MW might have to close the curtain... phew, happy to see it is well alive and flying!
