  1. Captain Gavin, I am running out of recency leh. Can I take one handling flying sector of you? Hehehe.....
  2. Great pictures Hakan. Thanks for sharing. Can see my colleagues faces there. Super shots. Bring me to spotting next time I got IST.
  3. My contribution. Take from a different angle. Do not really know who's great idea is it to get the aircraft to land at 6.40pm local time. Definitely no light whatsoever for any good shot and it was threatening to rain on the approach part. Nevertheless, it was really a joy to be there. To hear and smell the trail of wake and sound left behind as it soared overhead me. Even from very very far away, it already look extremely huge and menancing. As it get nearer, the rain clouds since 5pm threatened to spoil the party for all. But alas, it hold on a little while longer. Almost home. 500 feet to go. Just in case, a registration check. Just to make sure Airbus did not get it wrong and sent the wrong aircraft here. Cheers. Special thanks to Kwek for these pictures here.
  4. I heard about this incident the very same night I came back from Hong Kong turnaround, just an hour after SQ 119 had touched down. Looks like MAB will have to relook into its security issues and I am thinking of the worst. It may affect our spotting activities in the future. Again, it is so surprising that the pushback crew did not realise the stowaway was in the nose gear well. Those guys had to remove the headphone jacks once the crew give them the all clear. Perhaps they did not turn on the lights in the wheel well. Maybe stowaway climbed up whilst SQ 119 was holding position somewhere in KLIA. Or even it could be a general cleaner too. On a KUL-SIN sector, freezing to death is no issue since we fly around FL200-FL230. And being in the moderate temperature region, at most it will be about +1 degrees outside. And being locked inside the fuselage itself reduces the risk even further. But what beats me is how this guy could survive without oxygen as at FL200 useful time of conciousness is only about 90 seconds at best.
  5. Vivek and Raj, Thanks for your inputs. Looks like its OK to be spotting there. But provided only with a local around. My stay in BOM is usually 24 hours only but I suppose it will be good enough. As I am staying quite nearby (Intercontinental), more reason to be there. SQ have two flights a day. One arrival in the morning and one arrival at night. Vivek, shall contact you when I have a BOM. Most probably coming next month as I have two DEL and planning to swap away one of it for a BOM. Cheers
  6. Vivek, can you let me know how to get to the squatters area (BOM Obsercvation Hill) that you shot those pictures? My nightstops in BOM need not be so boring anymore if you can show me there. I was there last month and I see a lot of local folks with no cameras there. Is it safe? And pointers? Thanks.
  7. Pieter, As I mentioned before, we always love 'The Queen'. Four holes, Big Top and go non stop for 15 hours. What is there to dislike??!! On the other note, thanks for the wonderful pic of the lady. Sure she is a Virgin as I see her in Manchester frequently. Come Sept 4th, she will get a nose job and also a butt job. What about a 'blow'??!! Hahaha... Cheers buddy! With an Amstel of course!
  8. Sneeze Tai Kor, is this SQ 892 on Wednesday 11/07/2007?
  9. Requires balls of steel for such a landing. I will probably f****ed it up big time if I was doing it. More often than not, the pressure to straighten the nose will consume all the thoughts and attention and hence forgetting or not enough flare applied. End result?? Plenty of smoke after that. And I am trying to improve, for learning is part of every flight.....
  10. Andrew, great shot of the Antonov. I saw the Ruslan lifting off 20C as I turn out to EP on my way to BKK. Me and the captain was commenting about the slow rate of climb which would have benefitted you. By the way, happen to catch the first SQ 777 after Ruslan? SQ 976 B777-312 9V-SYJ to BKK. If you have the pic can please send me a copy. Wanted it so commemorate my 777 flight on 07.07.07. Thanks.
  11. I am just curious as the rest here with regards to training in Toulouse. Makes me wonder why the need to set up the simulator in a hurry since they pioneer batches are off to Toulouse for training. As for circuits, your news is news to me.
  12. ?? Simulator training in Toulouse?? The simulator is already up and running in Singapore Training Center.
  13. Fuah look at all the SQ ah mois. They seem so happy. Actually they are not. 300 cabin crew were selected recently to operate solely on this a/c type. Solely yah. Yes, just operate on this a/c that SQ got from MH. And their monthly roster will read AKL for all the night stops that they ever have. The rest of the month is some short turn arounds and also at least one LHR every two months. So much for being a cabin crew and wanting to see the world. The only part of the world they see is AKL and SIN. Hehehe.... On the operation side of the aircraft, SQ with their 412's are the only ones in the world to operate without the Engine Autostart function option. Now with the ex MH aircraft around, to acheive commonality with the rest of the remaining fleet, the Autostart function has been deactivated.
  14. SQ engine photo is in KUL or in PEK? There was a similar incident in IST but that was a left engine. anyway in all cases, its N1 blade seperation. All problems are due to a batch of RR 892 engines. All fixed now. Come fly SQ folks. It's safe.....
  15. Nothing could take away the shine from Malaysian Wings today. It is its BIG day and even the 'ones' up there agrees so. Here is an evident proof. I am serious. For once, the spotlight is on Malaysia and not Singapore. This one is dedicated to Captain Radzi and F/O Ian Lim who flew this workhorse so tirelessly (so many sectors a day) connecting millions of Malaysians before AK came along. Yes, Malaysian Wings is turning two. Look! Two AK's Airbuses for two birthday candles. And guess what guys? The Third celebration is already very much in the making. Don't believe me? Look at the background. Third AK is awaiting in pipeline to be candle. And its no secret that each year the celebration is RED HOT!! This one is for Norman. Absolutely Fanatical Norman!! Azahan, if I remember correctly we were talking about "The Story of an AK Stewardess" la.....Going to be part of the Flight Logbook mah....only special members can access rite??
  16. It was great to be back and to meet some friends whom I have not been catching up with. Although I am thrashed now, it is definetely worth the trip home, albeit a short one. Many thanks to Yong and Kevin Teh for sending and picking me up from Main Terminal Building. Thanks for sending me to KUL. Have a safe trip home and I shall see you around in SIN for some future flights. Thank goodness it's not SRD or SRB. F/O under training in left seat with Instructor on the right seat. Plenty of pretty SQ Ah Moi on board. All headed for Jakarta for a night stop after change of aircraft in Changi. Enjoy your nightstop girls. F/O LeeCH cannot keep you all company today. Spotting 1st!!
  17. Wow, looks like no more knobs to turn for tuning the VHF and HF radios. All FMC push button style. Very highly equiped with technology indeed.
  18. I cannot help but sense the excitment of the A380 crew doing the ILS on RWY 27. Very steep angle 3.3 degrees approach. No autoland allowed. Displaced threshold and medium braking action at best throughout the runway length (about 2700m left after touchdown zone). Autobrakes to maximum and full reversers. Two engines only for reversers. Then the taxi out of the runway. The taxiways are so narrow at times even a 777 finds it hard to negotiate around. Hmm..... Nevertheless, good to see an A380 landing in India. We as crews always wonder how will India accomodate A380. Now its proven....albeit much more excitement for the technical crew.....
  19. My license rating and endorsement is ot too bad afterall.....
  20. Must let me know when is your date of flight. And flight no of course!!
  21. As October gets nearer everyday, everything about the A380 is also getting ready in the company. Was doing a simulator session on Thursday and I was caught so surprised. The A380 sim is already installed and in the testing phase with various servers all powered up and ready. The simulator is made by Thales.....of course....
  22. Yes TK, must cepat cepat. Fast leg fast hands go there. Was with Pieter the great clicking away on a cold morning a couple of weeks back. LuchVart also waiting for your credit card. Yes Pieter, how can I forget Runway 06 and the spotting spot. AMS and Runway 06 will hold a special place in my heart. First European sector that I get to manually fly in. And a pretty challenging approach from PAM VOR. And so many thanks for the wonderful Dutch Lady trip here. I enjoyed it and I am sure you even enjoyed it even more. Reminds me of my Learjet 45A days. Doing 30 T&G. Fun! Folks, MSA 25nm SPL VOR is 1,700 feet with only a small section on the pie in the south eastern sector going up to 2,300 feet.
  23. The correct answer is...."Oh well, since my room and bed is big enough, why not bunk in with me then....". Hehehe.... Goodness, since when does airline pilot interviews managed such corny questions. In real life, there's never even a knock on my door, yet talk about your own crew coming onto your door....grr....
  24. Wah...tauke/boss is very fierce these days.....jangan main main.
