  1. Air Asia X posts net losses of RM210m in Q3 http://www.thestar.com.my/Business/Business-News/2014/11/19/AirAsiaX-posts-net-losses-of-RM210m-in-Q3/?style=biz
  2. Like limkj said, MAS has been doing this for quite some time. Your air fare class or FFP status will dictate whether you are eligible for free advance seat selection. Plenty of airlines are doing this these days including the very profitable Cathay Pacific Group.
  3. KA currently operates 18 A330-300, 6 of which feature a First Class cabin deployed exclusively to PEK. KA will take delivery of another 2 A330-300 from its parent company CX (used aircraft, ex-CX). All of KA 333 have been reconfigured with new seats in J and Y (**B-HLG and B-HLL have the ex-CX fixed shell seats in Y). All KA 333 also feature AVOD system similar to CX's.
  4. Dragonair cabin crews are far nicer and friendlier than Cathay Pacific's. It is a blessed for PEN that this route has been handed over to KA.
  5. Depends on which flight/sector are you talking about. For BKI-KUL, the bid starts from RM150 up to RM450 per flight. For KUL-Australia, the minimum bid is RM650 up to RM2700 per flight.
  6. Hence the conclusion MAS is consistently inconsistent. Actually MAS has been having this problem even before the two unfortunate accidents this year. Not only is MAS having a few variants of livery, MAS is also using at least three types of tray in Y... And this was between which city pair ?
  7. If my memory serves me correctly, that is how it worked with Optiontown.
  8. I received the same email too this morning. My cousin who booked his flights separately however, did not receive the offer.
  9. Interesting indeed! 3 hours 55 minutes from CAN to PEN and 3 hours 50 minutes on the return flight.
  10. For most heavily discounted economy class ticket, you have to use MAS own FFP to earn miles or sector credit. You won't get any mile credited to your QR Privilege Club account too when flying certain Cathay Pacific discounted economy cabin class. It is also the same with TG Royal Orchid FFP or SQ Krisflyer.
  11. I believe it has more to do with the Mainland Chinese travel agencies boycott after MH370 went missing rather than the kidnapping problem in the Sabah East Coast. MH385/MH384 used to be full with connecting passengers from China Eastern Airlines. But now there hardly is any Mainland Chinese traveling on these two flights. Spring Airlines resumed its 4x weekly flights between BKI and PVG for a few weeks and it was canceled again. China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines never resumed their flights to BKI. Two of my cousins are tour guide and they said Hong Kongers are still coming to BKI but many made a request to the travel agency they booked their trip with to re-book them to the Dragonair flight.
  12. Yay! I hope the air fare is competitive! Crucial to compete more effectively with Asiana Airlines daily A321-200 service.
  13. Yes. AF made the exact same mistake too. No. They now send their 3-class 772. BA 787-9 will have 8 First Class seats too besides J, W and Y.
  14. It says potential Boeing 787-9 service to be introduced in summer 2016 in the attached promotional leatlet

    Bargain Fares

Nobody checked Air France-KLM at all ? I often find Air France-KLM give better deals than any of the ME3. I managed to find a return ticket to Europe for just RM2,729 all-inclusive for travel in November! It is an open-jaw ticket (Kuala Lumpur to Rome and back from Budapest to Kuala Lumpur).
  16. Don't think this applies to the cabin crew department. The crew to passenger ratio is in line with other airlines (CX, SQ etc.) Because she's white ? And so he thought it was ok to loosen up ? Until it was clear the girl was going to sue
  17. Agreed. Even KA is selling a good amount of ticket to USA and Canada ex-BKI at very competitive price. Flight time is very good too with short transit time at HKG.
  18. Good Lord! Agreed. They should also consider getting rid of the LCC seat pitch in Coach!
  19. Woah! I was not aware that you can now book a return flight to Europe from BKI on ba.com. A random search for a return ticket in World Traveller Plus from BKI to LHR came back with just a little over RM5,000, that's almost 3k cheaper than KA/CX!! May be it is due to LX also offers a daily nonstop flight between ZRH and SIN ? Both are Star carriers anyway. D7 forced itself into SYD and MEL. I was trying to point out why the MAS-Air Asia JV was a bad idea (still is a bad idea). Tony was quick to transfer not only the landing slot at SYD and MEL but the highly prized HND traffic rights too! Some profitable engineering contracts were also taken away from MAS. How can that be good to MAS ? Besides, those Air Asia people appointed to the MAS board also failed to address the problems at MAS (catering contract and so many more). It's better to sell it to a foreign carrier than a competing Malaysian airline.
  20. Heavier losses after the abandoned deal ? And quite a few lucrative contracts were taken away from MAS ? Traffic rights that were taken from MAS but never returned after they announced they weren't going ahead with the proposed marriage ? Damage had already been done before the crazy marriage was announced off. Even BA offers this type of air fare on its EU flights from time to time. Besides, it's not like MAS is selling all seats for RM99. MAS is burning RM7 million a day because they never get to the bottom of the problems and the two accidents make it all worse. I'm not sure if the A380 is working well for SQ too... Their profit is under immense pressure and future is looking very bleak. They are also about to pull out all A380 service to/from Australia. By the end of this year, there will only be 1 daily SQ A380 service to Autralia. The A380 has proved it is too big for all 4x daily LHR flights to be operated solely using A380. CX on the other hand, is still doing fine with its large 77W fleet.
  21. The proposed marriage between the two did nothing but more damage to MAS. There were also many questionable deals that have gone unanswered. It also did nothing good to the travelling public.
  22. Garuda Indonesia will slow international expansion and defer aircraft following a dismal 1H2014 Garuda Indonesia will slow its international growth following a lacklustre performance on international routes in 1H2014, which drove a net loss of USD212 million. Garuda ecorded an average international load factor of only 63% in 1H2014 as RPKs dropped by 3% despite a 15% surge in ASKs. 23. CX is more likely to transfer older 333/333E/333X to KA rather than the new 350. Currently CX has not named a replacement aircraft for its regional 333.
