  1. Cathay Pacific posts US$299.37 million net profit for 2018. https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-cathay-pacific-results/cathay-pacific-posts-profit-after-two-years-of-losses-rising-airfares-aid-idUKKBN1QU0DL
  2. All 5 of them are already quite senior. All seem to have been with MAS for quite some time.
  3. I was on MAS KUL-BKI yesterday and my flight had 5 cabin crew.
  4. MI BKI passengers are mostly connecting passengers from SIA. Very few Malaysians taking the MI flight between SIN-BKI.
  5. Because it is a very modern aircraft ? And if MAS doesn't want to repeat the same mistake that its predecessors did it's a good reason why they should either make a top-up order for the A350-900XWB or order new B787-9 Dreamliner instead of considering placing a new order for a re-engined A330 ?
  6. Korean Air is the one to move to the new ICN T2, not Asiana Airlines. Most SkyTeam carriers will also move to ICN T2.

    WP Labuan

A Chinese firm offered to build the bridge with just a land swap near the project site.
  8. Probably the same kind of traffic for BKI - Xian, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Wuhan etc.
  9. Row 9 and 10 are actually Y+. Just that the seat map is way off.
  10. That's the accrual chart for MAS only. For MasWings you need to refer to partner airline and Q class, indeed is not eligible for any mileage accrual unfortunately.
  11. LOL There is this Hong Kong Airlines which is competing directly with CX/KA as a full service carrier. And their air fare is usually a lot cheaper than CX/KA especially to PVG and BKK.
  12. AF has been doing it for years. But they do have many staff around CDG to guide you through the process should you do not know how to do it.
  13. My my... aren't we a negative bunch? It is too early to say. I would very much glad to see an alternative choice for travelers who are sick of transiting. Fitri sounds very positive actually. And he is probably right. Transiting via the Middle-east is actually longer than transiting via Southeast Asian cities when getting from Australia to Europe. Yet that hasn't stopped price sensitive travelers to choose to transit in the Middle-east.
  14. The guy who wrote this is a CX cabin crew. While zeke is a senior pilot at CX.
  15. For someone who travels almost exclusively steerage, any Business Class seat is a good seat. Even the J seat on MAS 738 with just 42" seat pitch is a real good seat which I traveled once from BKI to HKG on a free upgrade. My question about which FSC has W seats in 2-2-2 layout on the 333 was never answered as some insisted CX regional C is W. But that's understandable as there isn't one. It was all ok until someone decided to be sarcastic two days later.
  16. And early on some CX staff said CX was looking at SQ's 773A too. Not sure if that is still the case now. You probably won't see that post had someone try not to be sarcastic. Forgiving as in refrain from name calling because pardon me for someone travels steerage why is this such a big issue to the point people insist a clearly C seat as a W seat.
  17. Most noise came from those traveling on the front actually. I guess the body of those traveling up front (some, not pointing fingers to all) is so different than those traveling steerage they need a Cirrus flat bed even on a short-haul just so they can get well rested. Post this on A.net people will start calling you names but luckily this is mw.com where people are a lot more forgiving. I've traveled with elderly passengers 8 times on CX and KA (CX twice and the rest on KA). KA cabin crew do the best job assisting elderly passengers. The leading stewardess came out from the aircraft the moment they saw us coming. Even crew in the rear galley rushed over to help as we made our way to our seats. They offered to help us to stow our luggage though I don't really need any helps as I'm still young. But they always insist anyway. Then they came back and offered extra pillows to my grandparents who are over 80 years old (the elderly passengers). The experience was consistent on all 6 different KA flights where we were traveling with my grandparents. Confirmed a few days ago. First aircraft will be delivered in 2018.
  18. I've been on the red-eye from HKG to ICN 4 times. Though not so privileged like some and I was in steerage. Saw them took away hot meal and replaced it with a cold snack box. Those red-eye hops around East Asia are 2-4 hours. So you are saying you need a true lie-flat bed on a 2-4 hours flight just to get a shut eye ? You can't be serious right ? It is a respectable regional Business Class seat. There is no FSC having a PEY on the 333 with 6-abreast layout featuring a generous 47" seat pitch. Recaro itself is marketing the seat as a regional Business Class seat.
  19. HKG has been hit by typhoons a couple of times since the start of summer two months ago. And i have been on KA65 many times during non-summer, most of the delays were not due to late arrival of aircraft but rather ATC delay.
  20. All 33K and 333E original configuration was 39J, 28W, Y175 except a few newly delivered A330-300X. CX decided 28 seats in Premium Economy on the 333 was too much for the Middle-East and Australia. So they reduced the seats in W on more than 10x 333 that mainly serve Australia from 28 to 21 and completely canceled all Premium Economy Class service to the Middle-East and removed all W seats from the remaining A330-300X. This configuration is deployed almost exclusively to Beijing and Shanghai only. 33P is the version that will be transferred to KA. It wasn't the first time CX is doing this. CX 33P was originally configured with 42J, 267Y which is identical to KA 33P. Agreed with what your spies told you. CX has plenty of promotions from KUL year-round that sell a return ticket to Japan or South Korea for less than 1.2k per person. The promotion price is exactly the same as it was more than a year ago when MYR was worth a lot more. The promotion ticket is also always priced about RM500 less than ex-BKI, which probably suggests the 777 or even the 333 are too much an aircraft for KUL. With 4 daily flights that certainly don't help with yield too. KA also reduced BKI service from daily to just 5x weekly flights since March this year and still no sign the other two red-eye flights are coming back for the coming peak holidays in December. This means things aren't as rosy too for KA at BKI. Which other FSC is flying PEY seats on the 333 in 2-2-2 layout with 47" seat pitch ? Pardon me but aren't you guys being over dramatic already ? KA has been operating HKG-BKI since like forever. Most of the delays were typhoon related. Like its bigger sister CX, they know how things work in China and they are very well-prepared. They often have more than 2 spare aircraft for contingency like this. In fact just a year or two ago when about ten 333 from the Cathay Pacific group were grounded because they missed some paperworks, only a few flights were canceled systemwide. With ten 333 suddenly out of service yet flights were minimally impacted, this showed the Cathay Pacific Group had more than enough spare planes to counter things like this.
  21. All of KA 19x A330-300 have the exact same seats you see on CX 2-class Regional A330-300. Everything is AVOD and the Business Class is the latest Recaro Business Class CX introduced about two years ago. KA A321-200 have the exact same Business and Economy Class seats too. Only the A320-200 seats in Y are different. Initially they were going to install the same Long-haul Y seats on the A320-200 with PTV and all but in the end they went for WiFi entertainment system. By the way, zeke has pointed it again that payroll at KA isn't any lower than that of CX.
  22. CX has a far larger operation at BKK compared to KUL. It is unlikely they will hand over the route to KA anytime soon. Lol why ? What is so wrong with Dragonair ? Why is almost everyone here views KA as the inferior carrier in Cathay Pacific Group ? zeke, the CX senior pilot who is a regular at A.net pointed out many times already that KA having a lower cost base is a myth. Depending on the operating route, KA cost of operation at PEK and PVG is higher than CX. Doubt so. Very likely it will be business as usual at the Cathay Pacific Group. Some predicted CX will takeover most flights to PEK and PVG from HKG after the KA takeover in 2006 because these two markets are viewed as premium market. But that never happened. Exactly. Not to mention more patience and polite cabin crews on KA compared to CX too. No. Contrary to popular belief, KA operating cost isn't really lower than CX.
  23. Cathay Pacific axes Kuala Lumpur flights, hands them over to Dragonair from March 2017 http://www.ausbt.com.au/cathay-pacific-axes-kuala-lumpur-flights-hands-them-to-dragonair
  24. No. It isn't going to be if you are referring to the MAX8 as the winglets you see on the MAX8 aren't called Scimitar winglets and they are also not made by Aviation Partners Boeing.
  25. Contrary to popular belief, only OD 739 features a true 32" seat pitch in Y. Actual seat pitch in Y on the 738 is less than the advertised 32".
