Thanks! I am not sure why Indigo crew does that...

    KLIA2

I did some brief spotting activity while waiting for my flight back to BKI yesterday. 3. Somebody should publish a documentary about history of klia including klia2 with unbiased viewpoints from all stakeholders involved.
  4. https://www.facebook.com/7NEWSPerth/videos/2380360282251165/ Is this the new luggage and body scanners that you all talking about? If proven efficient, MAHB should invests in these at all major airports in the country!
  5. Have you all seen Falcon Heavy launch last week? The sight of all rocket boosters returning to the ground (via controlled landings) is impressive! The cost of logistics to outer space would be cheaper with private entrants like SpaceX and Stratolaunch.

  7. Any proposal to build a new airport in Kulim should not discount Penang in the discussion. From what I can observe: No concrete decision yet on the future of Penang airport. Northern peninsular aviation market will be split even further if Kulim airport materialises (we already have LGK, AOR and even IPH which Perak government views as in need for improved/new facility). I am not sure how airlines react to this. For a population of around 6 million+ within radius of 150km from PEN, the regional connectivity is relatively quite good compared with other regional airports in the country. And supplemented by networks of expressways and ETS which links the region to Thailand and southern peninsular towards Singapore. So, I think Kulim Airport management will naturally leverage on this, but will find Penang as the immediate competition, despite what Minister of Economic Affairs say otherwise. There is no airline that primarily makes northern Peninsular as primary hub so Kulim Airport need to work hard to attract airlines to land there.
  8. Should mention that Borneo Airways amalgamated with Malaysian Airways to form MSA... and the rest is history...
  9. "Malaysia Airlines, established in 1972 after it split from Singapore Airlines Ltd.,..." I think should be rewritten as "established in 1972 as one of the two national carriers resulted from Malaysia-Singapore Airlines split, the other being Singapore Airlines Ltd..."
  10. Should convey this message to Khazanah folks, but I guess MAS BoD would have advise them about this...

  13. Do you have any hint how is the yield like? BKI-HKG was culled few years ago. NRT will be suspended mid this year.
  14. I am curious to know how are the performance of MH's secondary international routes, chiefly BKI - TPE/NRT/PER especially BKI - PER which gets 1x per week schedule btw... https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2019/03/466730/shut-down-or-sell-national-carrier

  17. Seems like that is how DXB works. Adding to the uniqueness is passengers will be greeted with sea view and islands. Especially when weather is good like these past few days the sea is blue with lots of water activities within sight from T1, plus the sunset...
  18. I was at ADL in 2014. After clearing immigration, we were routed through inside duty free shop before finally reaching the gate areas.
  19. If there is one area that the proposed airline company can explore is connecting traffic (i.e. hub and spoke model). I think we all aware that major hubs like SIN, DXB, DOH and HKG thrive on connecting traffic. Otherwise, there are no point airlines based in these hubs acquire hundreds of planes if not for transit passengers.
  20. https://runwaygirlnetwork.com/2019/02/14/op-ed-cathay-pacific-finally-vindicated-for-its-a380-decision/ CX may be facing issues of its own, but certainly A380 is not one of them. Another feature how 747 wins over A380 is that the cockpit sits higher on the upper deck, allowing cargo doors to be designed on the nose.. practical for loading and unloading lengthy freight. Even Juan Trippe envisioned that 747 might eventually become cargo planes as he thought supersonic flights will replace slower jets. Kinda true in a way but not precise based on how civil aviation turns out to be today.
  21. Anyone knows why OD8113 (Ningbo-BKI) circled above KK for 4 or more laps at 25,000 feet at 4.30am on 13/2? I saw the plane at about 4.30AM (while outside enjoying the cool crisp and clear morning air). Then, I saw a plane cruising at high altitude, thinking that the plane was bound for either CGK or DPS. Then suddenly it turned west then north then back again to where I stood. I looked at FR24 and realised that plane was circling repeatedly with constant altitude.
  22. I think Airbus was too distracted in going all out to beat Boeing with its own 747 killer. But, Boeing is smarter because by 1990s, the high capacity, longer range twinjet market was beginning to accelerate and 777 was by then already eclipsing A330/340, both in capacity, range and performance. Airlines found that twinjets is better than quads, maintenance cost wise. If Airbus had the foresight and develop the A380s with two engines instead, I think the aircraft still had the chance in the market.
  23. I am sad as passenger. The aircraft is very roomy and quite.
