Dato TF shouts "TUESDAY 9 pm - MALAYSIA IS GONNA ROCK THE WORLD!" in his Facebook. Walter Sim participated in the long comments over the statement by guessing that it could be the announcement of the Kuala Lumpur - London service. I am thinking the same too.

Yup, there is a press conference in London tmr where TF is expected to announce details of the KL-London route. Someone from A.net reported that a bus has been painted in a D7 ad with TF and a stewardess... Interesting times indeed!

Great to hear that. The much coveted Europe - Australia link(cheaply) is finally completed by D7. Exciting , exciting.

They are already in an alliance, sort of. Except Ryanair and Jetstar. Sir Branson mentioned the possibility of some sort of tie up in the future between AirAsia and Virgin group of companies.

AAX still keep mum on the type of aircraft that it will use for its KUL-UK route in march 09 - but if it does use the A330, then it entails a technical stop or through a mid-east city if it gets the rights to pick up pax. Unserstandably as AAX n AA operates a all airbus aircraft, the perception that AAX will use a A340 bec of commonality in training tech crew. But the A340 will come in at a higher costs as it carries fewer pax, higher fuel burn and higher maintenance costs as it a quad engined plane. AAX will likely get the A350 for the non-stop service but it will be a few years away. Well I wont be surprise if AAX eventually leased the 772s for its UK route as it can carry more pax, and even cargo (if it develops this) and lower fuel burn - until its A350s arrives. At present there inthese times there are quite a number of 772s coming off mainline airlines.

So now it's confirmed that the service is going to be non stop and D7 will fly into STN (not a surprise considering they already have a landing right into the airport and the fact that STN is an LCC hub).

Speculations that D7 is getting an A340 for the London service has been going around for months in this forum. If you are keen in perusing this old threads...

The A340 is ex-Air Canada and based on earlier info, it will arrive in Malaysia in January 2009.

Because the taxes include UK air passenger duty of £40 (approx RM220)

The seat map shows the Y cabin are configured in 2-4-2. Phew! ;)

Anyone going on the inaugural flight? There will be a lot of interesting trip report subjects to write on - the celebration at KUL LCCT before the journey, the review of the A340, the review on the cabin and inflight service, IFE, review on the cabin crews (whether they talk so loudly or not) and of course the celebration in Stansted upon arrival. End it all with a newspaper report of the whole event in the local dailies on the next day.

I just with I had the avenue to do so. Sigh.

To be fair to them, it involves having it on board for longer period, more fuel burnt.

For the base price of RM1300++, all these extra amenity surely is sold for slightly premium.
