Malaysia Airlines B737-8H6 9M-MXX skidded off runway at SBW
Newitt replied to JuliusWong's topic in General Aviation
To some people anecdotes are as good as "facts". Didn't I say it's never inoperable? Attenuation is still a problem. Then there's the range limitation. What would've been an otherwise okay-ish deviation could very well lead you into previously unseen red areas till you're too late and trapped in a very small corridor. But this incident is on the ground. Must have been standing water. -

Unlike my weather and traffic radar, my sarcasm radar is never inop... hehe About time all runways get groovy, I meant grooved. -

No sir, you pray while we do some fancy footwork in the cockpit. Dancing in the rain! -

Chinese pilots smoke cigarettes while flying

Happens in Malaysia too. -
So much nostalgia. I hope someone can come up with a coffee table book of SZB.

That's a safety hazard.

Pea-brained imbecile.

Is there a provision for commercial fare-paying-passenger flights on single engine aircraft, IFR in the Malaysian aviation regulations? Or will the flights be strictly limited to VFR daylight?
-
So the crew just continued on to KUL after the fire? How small is this fire that a return to BKI is unjustified? If it was up to me I'd turn back and offload the pax with his paraphernalia.. Lithium battery fire is a really unpredictable animal once it starts.

Qatar 77W strikes landing lights on take-off from Miami
Newitt replied to flee's topic in General Aviation
That's an unbelievably late rotation. To have struck the approach lights meant the aircraft barely cleared the road across from rwy 27 -
Guan Eng says it again: Penang needs second runway
Newitt replied to alberttky's topic in General Aviation
What they really need is better and more efficient ATS. He is barking up the wrong tree. What's more ridiculous is he wants an MRO hub... when SZB is just 45 minutes away on a good day. The rise of hub-mentality! -
Somewhere in the paragraphs there's a mention of 270kt wind. Incredible...

Report looks amateurish, ambiguous, littered with minute errors. Do they ever do a credible job?
-
Good grief! If this is true then it's simply unethical. One could understand if this is for cabin crew, but tech crew? Outrageous. Hope it stays a rumour.

He and his cadre can strike or burn a gazillion candles for all they want. Calling retrenched employees to strike? How is that even a strike. Not very bright, these NUFAM cretins.

Chopper crash in Semenyih: VIPs among six on board
Newitt replied to Naim's topic in General Aviation
I'm sorry but why must one be grateful for the authorities' responsibilities? It's their job. As for the image, I'm certain they just nicked it. -
Chopper crash in Semenyih: VIPs among six on board
Newitt replied to Naim's topic in General Aviation
I know it's preliminary in nature but the report could have been a bit more professionally done. Looks like a rush job. And whatever happened to the promise of a report on the Twin Otter crash? -
The cost for two separate flights with two sets of crews with roughly the same capacity as one flight with a larger aircraft can be markedly higher. Then again, there's always the likelihood that revenue for two NB flights > one WB flight.

D7172 dumping fuel over Malacca Straits
Newitt replied to Sharil Abdul Rahman's topic in General Aviation
I seem to have touched a raw nerve here. I was commenting on Radzi's post about 734 with A/T unserviceable not being a big deal, the time when pilots didn't chase the FD bars for their life, or when A/T wasn't a no-go item. You've gone off on a tangent pal. -

Well back then flying was a lot simpler... none of these FD bull.... -
Wouldn't that be a greater elevation difference though? Departure several storeys up and a tunnel underground? Well, a superficial facelift will always make any old building look new...
