  1. They didn't even give it a good go. 4 weekly service is just pitiful ... I can't believe that KUL is so crap that AI doesn't fly there direct. There was a time in the nineties that AI flew almost 12 times weekly to KUL. Also we are so low yielding that we don't get a proper Jetstar or Qantas service. So strange when QF was MH's sponsor into OneWorld
  2. From airlineroute.net China Airlines in last weeks schedule update revised planned operational aircraft for Taipei Taoyuan Kuala Lumpur route, from 01APR17 to 15MAY17. During this period, CI721/722 will be operated by A350-900XWB, instead of 747-400. CI721 TPE0850 1330KUL 359 D CI725 TPE1840 2320KUL 738 x36 CI726 KUL0730 1220TPE 738 x47 CI722 KUL1440 1930TPE 359 D
  3. Yeah, I was in Hamburg the other day and I saw that! Interesting...
  4. I think they should focus on KUL-FRA or KUL-FRA-CDG as there are no direct competition. There would be easily 80000 pax to FRA and 130000 to CDG annually as per previous figures reported by AF, LH and MAHB... London would be an overkill as MH and BA have 3 daily flights between them. Well, I thought that the flagship route is always numbered 001 or 002... just like MH to LHR, NG 001 to KUL and SYD (long gone!), BA001 (concorde service - also long gone) and UA001 SFO-SIN
  5. Wah, flagship route for D7. I wish them all the best!
  6. Suzanne's 'tambah limau' comment had me in stitches!! PMSL
  7. I wouldn't want to travel underground in KLIA, there might be a sinkhole which may take us direct to Australia
  8. KUL will be a busy 787-9 hub soon! Great news.
  9. I'm sorry, I meant that this will be their second time restarting services...
  10. Hahahah, probably not far off the mark there
  11. I think they stopped and restarted twice... finally. I find it strange that KLIA can't even attract airlines from this region like PAL, Qantas and Asiana let alone from other continents. MAHB seem to be more interested in setting up outlet centres and shopping malls than in concentrating on their core business, which is aviation and in making sure KLIA continues to play a role as an important air hub in this region
  12. Hahah. 4.5 million in savings is not much - just a short city break for our beloved First Lady
  13. shortsighted move by TourismMalaysia. People can travel by other airlines. They need to do more promotion now more than ever before
  14. Yeah, I think KL was on course for more than 50 million pax in 2014 when the twin disasters struck and the growth plateaued ... then MH has their turnaround on top of that so things were stagnant for 2 years
  15. I'm surprised KUL-FRA which is usually 9 flights a week (then went to 12 flights a week between MH and LH) can't sustain any traffic. Doesn't make any sense. MAybe MH should have worked in conjunction with other airlines to get more feeder traffic but they loved undercutting everyone... didn't make many friends
  16. MH's alliance with EK has not really made much improvement for MH. It effectively took MH out of the competition in many routes - I expected EK to increase flight offerings to Malaysia but it seems like they have gone the other way! It has also soured MH's relationships with other airlines. Seems like a lose-lose situation for MH
  17. Haha, let's do this.. 18. WTH.... stupid move. All airlines are dying to get LHR slots and MAB are behaving like Ryanair! Thank PB
  19. Well, I just can't believe that the people in charge didn't take the opportunity to see what was on offer elsewhere and do one better. But this is the story of Malaysia... just do enough to get by
  20. Oh my god, why on earth have they done that??? Must be to put in more tacky duty free shops. When completed in 1998, the satellite terminal was beautiful. Now it is on par with puduraya bus terminal
  21. Jews are of course allowed in this country. I'm sure setting up a business won't be a problem. There was a big Jewish community in Penang and there was a synagogue and a Jewish cemetery. The Sarkies brothers were Armenian Jews who founded the E&O hotel in Penang and Raffles in Singapore. Most of the Jews eventually moved down to Australia ... as far as I know, Israeli citizens are not allowed into Malaysia
  22. More news from Jim Liu's website: Turkish Airlines in last Fridays schedule update made additional adjustment for Istanbul Ataturk Kuala Lumpur route for flights in 2017, effective from 08JAN17. From 08JAN17 (Istanbul Ataturk departure), overall service will be reduced from 10 to 7 weekly, as the airline operates last TK062/063 service on 07/08JAN17. From 27MAR17, the existing TK060/061 service will switch from A330-300 to Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Schedule listed below is effective from 27MAR17. TK060 IST0130 1655KUL 77W D TK061 KUL2335 0515+1IST 77W D Looks like another last minute switch cos Tokyo is back to 333 instead of 77W
  23. It's not to please the Muslim crowd. Malaysia supports a two state solution to the Israeli occupation - I'm sure I've read somewhere that they would start diplomatic relations with Israel if a two state plan materialises with a free and independent Palestine. I'm not holding my breath though... so it's gonna be status quo for a while yet
  24. Well, Malaysian tour groups have been allowed access to Jerusalem to visit Christian sites as well as the Al-Aqsa/dome of the rock compound when they cross over from the Jordanian border. This has been going on for a long time now. I think a special permit has to be applied for.. maybe someone here knows a bit more about this issue..
