  1. Can't tell, my pc won't load the home page entirely - "Done, but with errors on page" thingy !!
  2. Oh heck, if they are now owned by a group whose primary concern is museums, what chance of those neo-jurassic birds ever flying again ?!
  3. If Laos-Malaysia trade was worth only RM65m in 2005, imagine what it would have been back in 96/97 when Capt R did his Vientienne run ?! No surprise then with the quoted load factor ?
  4. My apologies Keith, perhaps I have quoted a wee bit too much of Desmond's reply to have misled you There, the limiting factor
  5. Gosh, for you to make a statement like that, you must either have been a totally naive 6 year old back then or you have completely mistyped what you actually meant to say instead !! No offence to Labuanites, but even the ludricously cheap beer is no compensation for loss of sanity ! BTW Seth, couldn't you have flown LBU-BKI direct instead of via boat ride to Brunei ? There is nowadays even a direct LBU-KK boat ride if you so wish %#$@*&^ rationalisation !!
  6. A true sceptic would say it's all another ploy by another party just to get hold of an AOC ! Good luck after the Fax/Firefly fiasco !
  7. Ah, there you have specified the limiting factor
  8. Is KBR one of the airports along east coast where there is no fuel ?
  9. I have never been able to understand why the reluctance or inability to do assigned seating for LCC's Perhaps the chaos is factored in as part of the total flying experience !!
  10. What about "Bak Kut Teh" on board ? Sorry, not acceptable, should be "Chik Kut Teh" or "Fish Kut Teh" instead !
  11. Should be up there somewhere in list of priorities - but I've waited enough times and for long enough at both departure gates and arrival halls to realize it would be an exercise in futility at best !
  12. LeeCH - have you been placed in line yet to convert to the whalejet anytime soon ? If so, congrats is in order I reckon !
  13. Top three priorities for me : 1) Allocated seating 2) Allocated seating 3) Allocated seating All these obviously rank below "getting me from point A to point B safely in one piece"
  14. Wheee - MyWings is back !! Many thanks to those who must have worked their bollocks off
  15. I on the other hand see this as an even more remote possibility !! Geesh, I suppose anything "low cost" in or associated with Japan would end up "expensive" in this part of the world anyway. However, good to see someone giving it a go - nothing ventured nothing gained, as they say !
  16. They really should stop harping about the VMY 2007 issue here. We're well on our way to the half-year point and they are discussing strategies to make the country more accessible to foreigners - reflects poorly on our logistical planning skills !
  17. Anyone knows anything about this MAS-Be Airlines ? Supposedly already started chartered flights ex-KUL to points in China. Also read somewhere they have leased in 757's. But surprisingly our ever vigilant gang over at Semenanjung not caught the bird(s) yet ?! Any info much appreciated
  18. Ah, so V8-RBC was the one with the fabled golden taps in the loo then ?! BTW, any idea as to its cabin configuration ? Normal 'public transport' scheme or the 'private bird' luxury ?! Any which way, you have to say the RBA colours was very striking on the 752's. Hard to explain, but that is how things go ! Touching back on urban planning, it only works if fruit of the 'planning' bit is observed and adhered to. Unfortunately, it seems we here have new plans and ideas each and every time a new chap comes on board - which inevitably messes up whatever good intentions the original planners had in the first place
  19. You might find bits here relevant to current discussion
  20. Be that as it may, they sure are built to a better spec (hence by extrapolation, cost more) than those here (ie. Sabah)
  21. Yes, apparently the Sukhois (or Sukhoi - not clear) are scheduled be part of the 'attack' force That is what I read in the papers anyway
  22. Sourced from theStar online : PMB opens bid for 18 B737-400 PETALING JAYA: Penerbangan Malaysia Bhd (PMB) is offering interested parties an opportunity to bid for eighteen B737-400 aircraft with leases attached. PMB said in a notice posted on its website on Monday that the aircraft sale would be divided into two lots of nine planes each. Bids could be offered for one lot or both. The 18 aircraft are currently leased to national carrier Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS). After the sale, they will be leased to MAS by the buyers on identical operating lease agreements. The closing date for the bids is May 14. After the sale, PMB would still own seventeen B737-400 aircraft. Malaysia Airlines B737-400 PMB, a wholly owned subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Bhd, is the parent company of MAS. Besides the domestic airline business, it is also involved in the acquisition, sale and leasing of aircraft and aircraft engines. Any possibility of a MyWings investment consortium ?? 23. You're right, sorry for understating the issue !! If one views it from a medical analogy, patients with erectile dysfunction can now seek pharmaceutical relief (in form of Viagra, Cialis etc) - personal dignity remains intact. Now envisage having to consult and seek permission from some stranger, possibly a bully with other self interests, before you are allowed to seek said pharmaceutical relief ............... QED
  24. I believe they on occasions, not very often though (afaik), do 'borrow' birds from their blue blooded Sir Sultan brother for their own use. Would really like to see the interior of his 744 !
