  1. Strange that the IFE refers to Lumpur. Actually only ATC uses Lumpur for all communication e.g. "Lumpur Control", "Lumpur Director" or "Lumpur Tower", etc.
  2. SPOTTING AT WMKP ================ DATE: JANUARY 31, 2006 TIME: 1200L - 1430L EQUIPMENT ========= CAMERA: Nikon F70 (Analog SLR) with Tamron AF 70-300mm f4-5.6 LD Macro MODE: Aperture Priority FILM: Kodak Elite Chrome (Slides) ISO 400 OTHER EQUIPMENT: Forgot to bring along a ladder and brolly so I popped in and out of the car to take shots with only a KLIA ATC cap on my head REPORT: ======= It was a hot day indeed with no cloud as I parked my car at the eastern perimeter fence nearer to the Rwy 22 end of Rwy 04. Traffic was very light and these were the shots that I managed to make: MH B737-400'S TAKING OFF RWY 04 ============================= LION AIR (MD80?) TAKING OFF RWY 04 ================================== SMALLER BIRD ============ Then a bird of the feathered kind (an egret, I think) turned up and made a full-flap landing MORE MH B737-400 TAKING OFF RWY 04 ================================== Later MMR took off and then MQD. JATAYU ====== A Jatayu (B737-200?) came taxying past and lined up on Rwy 22 although the windsock was still indicating a tailwind of about 10 - 15 knots FEDEX MD-11 =========== A Fedex MD-11 came later and also lined up on Rwy 22. 9M-LPC ====== It was apparent that Rwy 22 was now the active, so I moved my vantage point further upwind and after a while, to my surprise my usual steed 9M-LPC taxied up for an Intersection Charlie takeoff. CAL B737-400 ============ China Airline's B737-400 taxied up next, turned round and took off. MH B737-400 =========== Just before I packed up, an MH B737-400 came taxying by and took off. Well, that's all folks. No landing pics this time due to my location and thanks for viewing NEXT POST: Return flight PEN - KUL. =========
  3. The Kompas report stated that the a/c was far south of the Jakarta-Mengkasar track. As they had no navaids and I assume they also had no contact with ATC (otherwise ATC could radar-vector them), it was pure VFR. Either the cloud cover was extensive - which was why they were changing altitude all the time to spot landmarks (according to pax reports) or they didn't carry any map!
  4. The number of sifu's is increasing fast and that includes Shakir!
  5. Wow, it's Conti County. Nice shots.
  6. My sympathies, Pieter. The 9/11 paranoia has spread fast and wide and I have a feeling it's going to be downhill for us spotters. Our zoom lenses remind the security guys of shoulder-mounted missile launchers and they are feeling very uncomfortable about it.
  7. Nice shots, Raj. Good old Auckland!
  8. Beautiful shots, Trieu! Yes, that A330 is fabulous.
  9. Nice bizjet and heli pics. Thank you Pieter.
  10. MD11 - just beautiful! Thanks JK. Saw one of Transmile's beauties too but I guess the livery's too simple.
  11. Great shot, Goh. Just look at that prop pitch and the catapult link on the nose gear.
  12. It's a fuselage mockup for fire & rescue training & practice. You'll find at least one at every airport.
  13. To me KB stands for KA..BOOOM! Heh heh just joking :-)
  14. Thanks, Denny. Beautiful shots. I somehow love the Asiana livery (and also Shamrock).
  15. They probably have some shot in S'pore too.
  16. Azahan, thanks for the nose shot tips - you've got the parameters right IMO. Eric, wooooh some more superb Irish bus shots there. Thank you mate.
  17. My guess is that several manufacturers who have aircraft sent down to Asian Aerospace are having promo photos taken around KLCC. I see many previously unseen choppers hovering around KLCC too.
  18. Thanks a million, Eric. Let's have the rest of the pics too. Love that AMS aerial view.
  19. USS Carl Vinsson was also in Port Klang a few years ago. I went on board as it was open to the public but we weren't allowed to go on deck. In the hangars below were F18's, F14's, Seahawks, A6 Prowlers, Vikings, etc. It was worth the traffic jams to get there and back
  20. Kelvin & Ignatius You guys are just great. Excellent shots especially the nose ones.
  21. Azahan, Norman, TK and the lost spotters, Thank you, terima kasih, sieh sieh ni and rumbe nandre for the excellent coverage. Love that Hibiscus shot!
  22. Tried the reverser lever on a 744 full-motion sim in Subang, no way it can be deployed by accident - you have to really pull all the 4 levers. Thanks for the in-cockpit views, TK.
  23. The rising sun is the insignia of the "Sundowners" squadron VF-111. They used to operate F-14's. Thanks for the excellent shots, Amzari.
