  1. The new proposed cabin carry on dimensions (all units in cm length*height*width thereafter): 55*34*19, compared to existing IATA recommendations of 56*45*25 This compared with local airlines' dimensions as obtained from respective sites: MH:55*35*25 AK:56*36*23 FY:56*36*23 OD:30*40*20(!?) That might be a tad bigger than OD's(baffling) existing dimensions, actually...
  2. Does AJ (or anyone else, within or outside MAS/MAB, for that matter) get to overrule CM's decisions? It is imperative that CM be given the liberty and responsibility to do the tasks of restructuring MAS, and make whatever business decisions that he deems fit for MAB's long-term sustainability, without any form of interference. If CM is not given such privilege, the viability of this whole restructuring plan will essentially be thrown out of the window. My 2-cent worth here.
  3. Maybe she thought she could open the cabin door herself - is it possible once the door has been armed?
  4. Heard that KTM is building a rail link from Subang station to Skypark as well. Based on information from SSC, the station is quite some way from the terminal though... http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=186517&page=16
  5. Yet another setback for A400M. UK has suspended the usage of A400M: http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-32673988 Wonder if RMAF will do the same?
  6. OD's jet service could be better timed though - its sole KBR jet service departs from KUL at 0640 and back at KUL by 0915. As much as I would like to try out their 739ER I am not going to rush myself to KUL by 0555. Their ATR services are pretty decent and frequent, though I would prefer FY if their fares are similar - FY has better baggage allowance than OD's ATR services.
  7. Assuming the report is accurate, what do they plan to deploy to LHR? Whatever they do they better not drop the route and let go of their LHR slots, else they might never get back to LHR when(if?) things improve.
  8. After the revelation, airlines now require two crew members be in the cockpit at any given time: www.bbc.com/news/uk-32075657
  9. This just happened: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-32030270
  10. How about other MK*-series A333 that went to Tupelo etc, have they all been scrapped? And while we are at it, what ultimately happened to MKB?
  11. Think the other AK would not be too pleased if this AK could use CS-100 for SZB.
  12. We barely see Rayani Air materialize and now this mojo thingamajig? I daresay it will not even fly.
  13. Do we need transit visa to transit via Vietnam's airports? Seen in Skyscanner that VN often are only about RM100 or 200 more from what D7 offers.
  14. Probably it's just me but I think it would look better with a gold Wau against a darker tone of blue. Nonetheless that is a good effort and definitely better than Philippines flag livery.
  15. All the nuts are served in packets instead of ramekin. Screaming chaebol heiresses available upon advanced request.
  16. Not sure if this has been brought up before, but apparently OD has launched a few new routes, among them IPH-KBR vv. Only time will tell if this route will work. Hope it does!
  17. MEL-KUL-DPS? Now that is a detour! I pity those souls who chose to put up with 16.5" seats for accumulated time of 12+ hours.
  18. Merely changing the IFE box would not make any good for those ageing IFE systems - newer IFE screens have higher resolution and have touch capabilities, something those small screens on Y-class on those 777s are not capable of.
  19. Short term lease for those 787, would not recommend buying these early built frames. Long term order for A350s consisting various subtypes (358 for longer haul not doable with 359 or 35J, 359 as direct replacement for both 772 and 333, 35J for routes that could use more capacity but not enough to justify 380) to maintain fleet commonality and further cut down fleet types. BTW any possibility to secure slots vacated by EK? Just my two cents worth of opinion. In any case they royally messed up their fleet planning big time and they will become even worse off if no immediate decisions made.
  20. Cue sensational journalists 'expertly' report this as related to QZ8501 in 3...2...1...
  21. Malindo Air also is conducting relief runs to KBR in collaboration with Tesco: https://www.facebook.com/malindoairmalaysia/posts/737830692967763
  22. The article in question found here: http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/economy/20141224-OYT1T50123.html Which, according to Google Translate... (at least it didn't give me "My hovercraft is full of eels"...) Somewhat wished they'd operate out of HND instead for KUL, but at least that's something. Just hope that actually materializes!
  23. Apparently, this happened on KE86 JFK-ICN, and one executive, who also happened to be the daughter of the airline's chief executive, went nuts (pun not intended) the way macadamia nuts was served in F class. As opposed to be served in ramekin, the nuts were served in paper bags, at which point the executive demanded the F/A who served the nuts to bring out service manual to refer the proper SOP, then ordered the plane to turn back and offload the F/A. The whole incident caused the flight to be delayed by 11 minutes and has since drawn criticism against the executive for the way the situation was handled, as well as being investigated by South Korean government. The Guardian's article on this: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/dec/08/korean-air-executive-nuts-cho-hyun-ah-flight-attendant A.net post: http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forums/general_aviation/read.main/6249263
  24. Too much background noise + too many people talking at once + too thick of mainlanders accent = damn near impossible to know what they are arguing about. But I'd hazard a guess that they are arguing about flight delay, since near the end of the video a guy (orange t-shirt with black horizontal stripes) gestures with his watch, asking someone to 'come out' or some sort.
  25. 3K and AK are by now household names, and therefore travelers, be it casual tourists, or businessmen traveling KUL-SIN vv on weekly basis, will prefer to go to what they are more familiar with. Not to mention there are also MH, MI, SQ, TR and FY (ex-SZB) in the fray for a while by now. Given OD is still a relatively new airline, some might not have even heard of it. Those who have heard about it might associate them with their parent's other airline Lion Air, and to them JT is, rightfully or not, synonymous with 'unsafe', especially after last year when they undershot a six-week old 738 at DPS. They may not necessarily aware that OD, as an airline established in Malaysia, has separate operating certificates, and are subject to MY DCA's regulation. OD will need to work much harder in marketing and advertising, and foster confidence among travelers if they want to stay relevant on this saturated sector, which can only deteriorate further if KL-SG HSR goes ahead. (Comments above are just my two pennies worth.)
