  1. Very nice photo Waiping! Perhaps you can share this photo over to Thai Airways/Thai Smile FB page to promote Sabah...
  2. Got Thai students to our office today in KK, and when I told one of them that there are already non-stop flight to BKK, he was surprised but at least I informed him abt that. Price may be at the high side for us locals, but I think the non-stop will do well for visitors from Europe and countries west of Thailand. Let see how it goes...
  3. Back to 'pen and paper' as one security analyst said in a BBC interview few days ago. Or, make use of increasingly advanced cloud computing, which tech companies like Microsoft and Google encourage people to access their files anywhere remotely from any connected devices - which means airlines may have to convert current IFEs into working computers esp. for businesspeople to use on air?
  4. I can't see the logic behind the ban.
  5. The original masterplan called for second MTB mirroring current one on opposite side - which begs a question, why current KLIA2 didn't sited there instead? I think it would at least eliminate one issue plaguing KLIA2 until recently - soil instability.
  6. I still think a bridge would have greater positive impact to Labuan and mainland Sabah than investing in LCCT. I would expect that if a bridge is materialised, it would be a single carriageway cantilever bridge and it would eliminate hours of non-productivity for the sake of just queuing for the ferry, and goods can be transported at cheaper cost.
  7. I think Sabah-Labuan bridge is more pressing matter than LCCT. I recently talked with a relative who works at one of the offshore banks in Labuan where only few employees work there. He was forced to call it sick on Monday because it is difficult to book a spot for his car (he bring along his family to mainland) on the Labuan-Menumbok ferry on weekend. For late afternoon schedule on Sunday, that would mean he has to drive from KK early morning to reach Menumbok. That is despite his boss discouraged so many staff to take extra days off at the same time to minimise disruption to the the bank's operation. A bridge would have eliminate those issues.
  8. What about the tail design? Indonesian Batik and Malaysian Batik are of different designs...perhaps for Malaysian fleets should get consultatuons with batik designers from Kelantan or Terengganu.
  9. Well worth the effort (and money spent) for those successfully obtain the 10 year visa despite not so favourable forex rate. I am still pessimistic Malaysia will be included in Visa Waiver Programme though we almost reach the 3% target rejection rate, in light of recent controversial policy by new POTUS.
  10. For a moment I thought USA and Bangladesh are JVs for it...
  11. Long-Delayed Flymojo Said To Take Off By End-2017 'Industry sources revealed that Fly Mojo Sdn Bhd — the airline’s operating firm — is concurrently hunting to lease or purchase new aircraft models after scrapping the US$1.4 billion (RM6.23 billion) deal with Bombardier Commercial Aircraft to buy 20 CS100 planes.' http://themalaysianreserve.com/new/story/long-delayed-flymojo-said-take-end-2017
  12. Western Australia's economy currently is not doing very well, with slumping price of minerals. Could be one of the factors Tourism Malaysia shutting down Perth office. WA/Perth badly need investors, tourists or whatever financial incentives to boost the economy again...
  13. Two years ago while lazying around surfing FR24 during a daytime windy rainstorm, saw a China Airlines A330 was descending towards Runway 20, but when it passed above Tuaran, it suddenly turned to east directly on course towards Mt Kinabalu region presumably to wait for better weather condition at the airport. Quite anxious observing that plane headed that direction, though I am pretty sure that was just me. Not sure if that manouvre ever discussed internally among local ATCs.
  14. MAHB's credibility remains intact (more or less)...phew...
  15. Where will ANA deploy their -neos? IMO, the -neos can provide ANA opportunities to go for more secondary cities within range of this aircraft type as similar to how the 787s opens up more direct flights to secondary US cities.
  16. Those TV screens in economy look huge!
  17. Sounds perfect for anyone that wants return flight within 18 hours for the sake of attending meetings etc.
  18. One of the latest slews of point to point ULR flights. Being 16-17++ hours non-stop up in the air will be a new normal.
  19. Wow, a daily flight seems a bit too ambitious one might ask...I was expecting 3x per week. Though, the timing will be great for spotters!
  20. AK will terminate CGK-BKI route in January 2017. Hoping Lion Air/Batik Air Malaysia take this opportunity...
  21. That was 16 hours non-stop crossing the Pacific!
  22. As far as I know, Mideast Big 3 do not offer direct services to TLV, though EK purportedly advertised via Amman. Perhaps TK will be affected?
  23. Makes me think that Maswings may become irrelevant especially in Sabah where quite a number of small rural airstrips hv been closed for past years as land based connectivity improves.
