  1. Whilst I don't have an opinion on the PSC hike, I agree with the standardization of PSC across all terminals at the same airport. It's baffling to have different taxes at the same airport - both terminals require water, power (electricity), security/immigration staff, check-in counters, jet bridges etc. On a side note, is the rumored tiered PSC treated based on final destination or first international flight out - i.e. will KUL-HKG have the same taxes as KUL-SIN-HKG because the latter will mainly benefit other ASEAN carriers.
  2. The KA-lonization of KUL is now reflected in the GDS. CX 724/725/729/720 will be KA-ed beginning March 2016 and the remainder beginning June. New flight numbers will be KA 722-729. Frequency remains 4 daily A333. On a side note, some CX 724/725 flights will be operated by CX 77G/H this November. IME, some crew treats this as F cabin (sold as J) - curtains are drawn with more attentive service and pax in this small cabin are allowed off the plane first before regular J. Also, bye bye BA/AA code on this route and for those who credit their mileage to AS.
  3. Absolutely not. I flew MH 366 early August and there was alcohol in the menu.
  4. Probably because fluency in Thai is a requirement for TG. And you are right for JL, just with one hand. There are only 5 male FA in JL - I had the pleasure of flying with one of them earlier this year.
  5. My mistake. Glorified PEY then KA 65 (15:55 departure ex-HKG) and KA 61 (08:00 departure ex-HKG) on-time performance was 67% and 92% respectively for the last 2 months.
  6. I don't contribute that much to CX's bottom line, but I do fly TPAC with CX about 8-10 times a year (20-30 times if I include my family) in premium cabin. My CX fare rule is quite flexible - I can't exceed MPM by a certain percentage but I can route any way I want on a OW carrier to/from HKG. I prefer not to fly PEY after a 16 hour flight from LAX, so come March 2017, CX 723/722 will not be part of my itinerary since CX 723/722 is mostly operated with 33K or 33E. I'd rather fly KUL-BKK-HKG-US since BKK/SIN/CGK sees 77H on a semi-regular basis (especially BKK). Ditto CX is still one of the preferred TPAC carriers ex-KUL. Japanese carriers have a maximum of 2 flights a day to US/Canada and it's all in the same departure bank. Between NH and JL, only NH is timed for TPAC flights. With CX, there are multiple departure banks from both ends. I could have chosen JL to LAX but I rarely do so due to inconvenient schedule. ANA's reinstated NRT-KUL flights were timed for TPAC flights from the get go. HND flights on the other hand is not timed for any TPAC flights. CX is not famous for its food, even in premium (F/J) cabins they are average at best. I fly them for their hard product. Because KA is 100% PEY seats whilst CX has 1-3 flights a day with flat beds to HKG. Also, since KA operates a lot of HKG-China routes, I won't be surprised if the on-time performance for its KUL flights, especially with the current CX 791/729 schedule, will suffer.
  7. Because GST is at 6%. Maybe an increase to 7% might cover the cost of construction
  8. MH 89 (NRT-KUL) is now back to its usual 1030 departure.
  9. But you still have to clear customs and immigration, wait and take the train to T2. Can you imagine what a nightmare this will be? This could easily add unnecessary 60 minutes to your journey.
  10. It was only 2-3 years back when operated MH126/127 operated 5 times weekly alongside with daily MH124/145, but when MH reduced the frequency to 7 weekly flights, the 5 weekly MH126/127 were cut, which made me think those flights were rather undesirable for pax. But also MH had a much larger EU network that passengers that could connect to/from MH124/125. As far as MH3, the departure time was moved maybe 55 minutes earlier (I believe their NW15/16 time was 1055 - not a huge deal). Pax can still connect from BA ex-EU. Also, it seems like MH79 is departing from HKG at 0750 instead of 0845-ish (presumably to offer a more varied departure time coupled with CX and/or offer more connections beyond KUL). Ex-HKG: MH079 0750 CX723 0850 CX725 1255 MH073 1450 CX729 1605 MH433 1915 CX791 2030 Ex-KUL: MH072 0820 CX720 0900 CX790 1035 CX722 1345 MH432 1430 CX724 1755 MH078 1950
  11. Confirmed per GDS. I don't have the numbers they do, but I always thought the MH 124/125 timing is always better than the MH 126/127. In addition MH 432/433 will move about an hour earlier. I suspect MH 73 hasn't been adjusted yet due to slot constraints. AKL will have 4 red eyes per week instead of 3 (4 to 3 daytime ex-KUL). DRW reduced to 3 weekly. 2 RON at BKK instead of 1.
  12. CI will further increase its capacity to KUL for NW16/17. New CI 725/726 flights: CI725 1840 TPE - KUL 2325 738 Dx36 CI726 0720 KUL - TPE 140 738 Dx47 CI 722/721 remains B744.
  13. Per RoutesOnline, CI will up gauge its daily TPE-KUL from A343 to B744 for NW16/17 (extending its B744 run from NS16). 2 other carriers (and soon OD) flies KUL-TPE with once a day flight, but CI takes the prize for highest capacity (MH 738, BR mix of A332/A321 and soon OD with B739).
  14. Actually I forgot 2 more AA J: - the first generation Cirrus on 332 - the Thompson Vantage XL (or similar) on the refurbished 767.
  15. While we are talking about the many types of J seats one airline has, can we also talk about AA's J: - Cirrus reverse herringbone on their 77W - the yet to be launched B/E Super Diamond on half of their 772 and new 789 - Customized Cirrus yin-yang on their 77D and 788 - NGBC angled lie-flat on the older 767/777/757 - B/E Diamond on their 321T - unannounced flat bed for their TATL 757
  16. While we are comparing lounges, can we compare the 3rd party lounge at MLE to the much better the Pier F lounge in HKG too?
  17. Flights are full, but it might also be filled with those $500 fares ex-US Great news. They have been enjoying pretty good loads on its KUL-TYO flights (yield might say otherwise tho). But this new route means JL is shut out from serving HND-KUL (JP-MY was only allocated 7 frequencies each). ANA's 14 weekly almost matches JL/MH 17 weekly KUL-TYO frequencies but the latter is more a hub to hub operation without any HND flights - so maybe Malaysia might get the next daytime slots, if any, opens up.
  18. Is Malaysia the only country where they name terminals differently? How about just a simple Terminal 1 and 2? Does it matter the name carries LCCT literally means it's low cost?
  19. EK will upgauge EK346/347 between 01JUL16 and 28JUL16 from 3-cabin 77W to 3-cabin 380. There'll be 2 daily 3-cabin 380 to KUL during this period (EK 342/343 remains 3-cabin 380 service). Etihad will use 3-cabin 77W (Jetihad 77W) for EY411/418.
  20. Looks like I'll get to fly GRU-BCN before it gets the axe! ^ New schedule is out: SIN-LAX SQ7 LAX1630 - 2220ICN+1 // ICN0010 - 0540SIN SQ8 SIN0245 - 1005ICN // ICN1135 - 0545LAX SQ11 LAX0900 - 1345NRT+1 // NRT1500 - 2140SIN SQ12 SIN0920 - 1705NRT // NRT1850 - 1150LAX SIN-SFO SQ31 SFO0835 - 1820SIN+1 SQ32 SIN0830 - 0705SFO SQ1 0005SFO - 0700HKG+1 // HKG0800 - 1200SIN SQ2 SIN1830 - 2215HKG // HKG2340 - 1940SFO
  21. I fly for the price of sea transport
  22. I am just an amateur. I go to kayak and look for the cheapest fare between two destinations - don't bother about loyalty. I never get invited to some list or key.
  23. Wow! So many sarang (nested) tickets! I am no expert, but you should teach me more when I get invited to join some sort of guest list (VIP? I don't know) next year
  24. SKL access at SIN, redeem miles on parent SQ F and J, a personal umbrella if it's raining, 10-second headstart to board to the plane and free peanuts on board.
