Kee Hooi Yen 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 Nice architecture. At least, it is not another 'mini KLIA'
BC Tam 2 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 question - does tgg really need such a big airport? My guess - when it comes to once in a blue moon, mega valued, 'prestige' projects such as airports, the "need" factor gets relagated to near insignificance !! BTW, the proposed interior looks more like a 5 star hotel lobby !

rayner 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2007 From what i know is that the current airport is old and small so they wanted to upgrade it. Besides, they wanted the airport to cater for the Hajj flight during the Hajj season.Currently, all the east coast Hajj pilgrims have take flights to KUL before going to Mecca. So when the airport is fully functional, maybe MAS can then reroute one of the B747 to here and go directly to Mecca. So expect to see some B747 landing here....jk Just my 2cent though...

Fahiruz 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2007 indeed.. as one of the promises during the last general election, is to bring "never-seen-before" development to tganu.. even im from tgg, never fully agreed so much money spent.. its true that the current terminal is way too small but now it seems to be way too big... no ILS, but rather large terminal, the east coast expressway to ktganu underway... wonder what Deris Jusoh will do to make the airport looks "not too overboard"? perhaps he's preparing for the 2008 SUKMA? or he's planning to buy a State official jet? perhaps he's getting bored building the schools, so need new project... lol.. KBR is just 3 hrs drive away...so one of the airports could be upgraded to Intl (according to the East Coast Corridor masterplan).. KBR got the pax, but not yet "politically-right"??? KBR got the expansion done already with ILS and bigger terminal.. hmmm, this would be interesting...
Rozhan 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2007 (edited) KBR got a new terminal, but BN still fails to wrest power from the opposition. At least the people of Kelantan and tourists get to enjoy better facilities. I believe TGG got the new upgrade for voting BN back. I often note that the establishment will dilly-daly on development, let people live in impoverished conditions, and when elections time come, 'bribe' them to vote with newly resurfaced roads, instant land grants, bicycles, new sarongs etc etc.....all almost instantly. They could have made peoples' lives better without having to resort to such lowly and uncivilised strategies. What a shame! And yet they talk about 50 years Merdeka.... ! It is a shame indeed. 50 years of nationhood, what have we learnt? Corruption and racism perhaps? I for one is not so keen on celebrating this event. It is not much to celebrate to be honest, other than just being independent from the British. The Malaysia Truly Asia campaign has given me enough of goose bumps over the years, ironically it just pointing to something we are not!
