Finally you meet the "Dynasty Dream liner". Hoping for "Malaysia Hibiscus" next.

Planning to make a trip to Atlanta Hartsfield airport this coming month, are you interested?

whoa

nice shot Khor. Are u taking those shots from the hill close to runway 7L & 25R (correct me if wrong)? It looks like all these planes approacing from the pacific. I love the Continental 738 shot.

Actually i never went to the hill. i used to go to the park in front of in and out burger, parking lot in front of staples or roadside close to 7R & 25L. Never spoting, only sighting. I do spotting in Houston IAH.

It is taken from Imperial Hill, well Azuddin, if you ever come back to Houston, pm me, I will go to IAH to meet you from Dallas. Good to know another MWings member from Texas, besides Seth K.

i thought so it's from imperial hill because the shot is not quiet fimiliar to me. I only saw the hill when i was in CO 757-200 to IAH. I saw the hill when the plane taxying to get to 25R. I saw the hill once again when i was on MH94 from KUL-TPE.

Yuh Loh, you live in Dallas? Dallas is nice. During my trip to SFOT last year, I went spotting at DFW during afternoon where there's a lot of Euro arrival like Lufthansa, BA and others and i also went to C.R. Smith AA Museum.

see you later, i'll let you know when i return to Houston but I don't know when because since my dad work in Africa my family spend most time in Kuala Lumpur, which is near where i go study.

If you guys want to go spotting at IAH, I can give the guide and place with good view. Be careful, TSA and airport security might be around.

you can get a view like this from the top of the parking lot at Terminal D.

or like this from a road at the back of the airport, see the attachment

Sorry, don't have any good spotting equipment. Only regular 3.2MP and 5.0MP Sony Cybershot.

The KLM 747-400 is one of the most attractive daily visitor. Only KLM uses 747 to Houston. Other 747 are only freightere flight. Anytime i go spotting at IAH, I go in the afternoon about 2.00PM where the Euros like KLM, BA, AF and LH coming in. And i also wait until 4.00PM at the other side of the airport and wait for the KLM to depart and watch it banking.

that KLM shot is for u Peiter.

Thanks, Azuddin,

Did you know, KLM even operates a BBJ into IAH from AMS nowadays ???

KL0663/KL0664 all business-class ohmy.gif : only 44 seats on-board...about the longest scheduled 737-flight in the world wink.gif

I do heard about that lately. KLM uses 738 or 739 for this route. Is it a non-stop service? I sometimes saw KLM 767-300 during night at IAH. I'm hoping to see KLM operate the A330 to IAH. I've saw KLM 747 a few times here at KUL. My dad actually like travelling on it to or from AMS.

KLM is my favourite european based airline, actually any airline in Skyteam is my favourite. What I like about KLM is that it is from a country where my heritage actually begin.

Same here at DFW, 1.30 ~ 2.00 pm is the best time to catch BA B772 & LH A343 or A333. Nothing else. For Asian arrival, we only have KE B772 on T Th & Sat. I guess Dynasty is the only Asian airlines to serve IAH. I am canceling my trip to IAH this weekends as expecting some rains. Azuddin, can you please give me a few spots that I can get some good shots at IAH. All I know is Lee Rd. I will email Nathan & Andy, both active shooters from IAH to get direction to shot from parking lots.

Let's organize a trip, Khor, prefer JFK during summer.

It's a BBJ, so a -700 series, I guess: registration is HB-JJA and is in PrivatAir colours; it replaced the 767-300...not sure if the 330 will be scheduled to IAH in the Summer...currently, it operates to NYC and WAS...

Would you mind sharing us about the heritage thing ? Are you from Dutch ancestors (Melakka) ???

I see that, my friend in houston told me about it. It is with privatair color with a KLM logo on the side of the front door. Can't wait to see the A330, it might be the only A330 to came to IAH, if LH don't replace their A340 with A330 because they already did for their FRA-DFW route. I know AF replaced their 772 into stretched 773ER for CDG-IAH route. The KLM i used to see in IAH is mostly with "KLM ASIA" marking and has a combi cargo door on the back left of the fuselage. Do KLM just uses the combi 747 to IAH?

About the heritage, sure I'll share. Yes I'm from Dutch ancestors which sail and came through Malacca long time ago. The Dutch is from my dad's side and my mom's side is actually from a chinese pilgrims who also came through malacca. My dad don't really have a dutch look since my grandma is actually from an Indian ancestor which also came through malacca. My family is mixed up from different region. inside me, only 1/4 part of me has the malaysian blood and many people always confused and thought I'm not from malaysia and born outside of malaysia because me, my brothers and sisters all have a dutch look. Some of my friends call me a "Flying Dutch Boy" since i like aviation. biggrin.gif

sure i could give some guide. Lee rd is good spot but you need a good zoom from that spot. The parking lot in front of Air France Cargo warehouse is a good spot at lee rd. You only get a good taxying view from here.

The best location is the rooftop of Terminal D parking lot. Every terminal has it's parking lot but terminal D is the tallest of all parking lot. Just drive up to the top. great view from up there and you can see all departure and arrival activity. this is one of the view you can get from the roof of parking lot. that's the view of terminal E.

The best location for arrival view is at Aldine Westfield Rd. To get there it's a bit complicated. From 1-45, you have to go into FM1960 east which means if you take I-45 toward Galveston, the FM1960 would be on your left. go into that road until you find i think it's the third traffic light (After McDonalds) turn into a road with a sign Aldine Westfield. after enter that road find a spot where there's many runway light pole (Orange color). Some spotter actually setup tent and picnic there. smile.gif you can get a view like this

The best view for departure is at Rankin Rd. to get there, don't go to Rankin from Hardy toll rd because Rankin rd has been detatch to make way for the heavies runway. to get there, simply drive up Aldine Westfield and make a left turn. the road you drive on is paralel with the departure runway. drive up and u will see some oil tanks on your left. keep going until you see the first traffic light, at the traffic light, turn into Rankin Rd on your left. good departure view from the side. Rankin Rd is a dead end but don't park your car at the dead end because airport security department is there, I escape a chase once. Suggestion is that you park at the corner at a water tower. Most heavies can be seen from here.

Another good view of departure is from Greens Rd which is next to Hardy toll Rd. You can park at a Hotel there. This place is great for frontal view of departure. I prefer the Rankin Rd. Take a look at the map I upload.

I hope this map may help. It's really helpful for me.

another place for approaching view is at Hong Kong market parking lot in FM1960. it's not that interesting but you get an amazing view of planes banking before landing. Or you can go to Petsmart parking lot at FM1960. It's barely on the left side of I-45. you see the planes cross over I-45 before final approach.

well, I hope this should help. ask me again if anything that's confusing. You can see some of my uploads at myaviation.net and type in Muhammad Azuddin at photographer search.
