S Chang 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2006 Hi all, Spotted at 1530 this afternoon when i was around Georgetown, flying an East-to-West direction. A moment later one of our TUDM Hawk flew over, same direction. Friends from Australia? Or SU-24 which is intercepted by Hawks? Hope these provide some information for those who want to catch it. Sorry for quality...shaky hands. Thanks.

S Chang 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2006 You're Welcome, Teoh. Yes it seems to be a Non-hostile ones, must be Aadvark of RAAF, because the Hawk that followed it had no weapons on it...only 2 external fuel tanks... Sadly Penang welcomes our guest with grey overcast skies with Cb clouds everywhere.. Cheers
Mohd Idham 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2006 guess what, there was a story telling me that, this F-111 when their south east asian base is still at B'worth long ago, maybe pilot had nothing to do coming back from sortie, he did a super fast low pass over WMKB. over 300kts, with full afterburners.. and, all materials that we called glass, explode as this 'try-to-have-fun' pilot do his thing... Mohd Nizam 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2006 No wonder i heard a loud fly-by when i'm at the office .. Thought the usuall F/A-18D doing routine flight. Never cross my mind that this bugger is having fun with the buzzing sound ..
S Chang 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2006 Yea Liam, Thought i would see a formation of it but sadly he's ''on its own''. And i'll be dissapointed if i miss the fuel dump too if he's doing any. The Royal Australian Air Force is a frequent visitor to Malaysia, in fact they use to have a base here before, Seth. So.. its a big possibility its the RAAF's that flew past. This Aadvark sounded like the usual sounds we get from the F-18s, Nizam. At first i was expecting to see maybe 2 Hornets, but it suprised me with F-111. But Thank goodness i had time to sprint to my camera.. Cheers people!
Fitri Shukri 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2006 LLooooong time since his last visit to Butterworth RMAF base..... Maybe Mr. Fitri Syukri can give us the valuable info... Yes I can confirm the F111 of the RAAF are here. For joint training, and making loud noises to the neighbourhoods here, and contributing to Penang's economy (the RAAF personnels regular 'social' visits to Penang Island)

Peter Smith 1 Report post Posted September 20, 2006 (edited) Fitri, SWEET! Man, I love the pig! A8-142 is the bird. She is an F-111C and although carries 1sqn markings, she actually belongs to 6sqn. Both sqn's live at RAAF Amberley, just west of Brisbane. Edited September 20, 2006 by Liam Gibb
Fitri Shukri 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2006 (edited) Liam, thanks for your info, very much appreciated. Teoh, I'm working at Butterworth. Sacrificed my lunch hour to photograph these Aadvarks. Ibrahim, if I use bazooka, the RMAF + RAAF sure fire real missiles at me before I can say 'makkk ooiii' Here are some more shots of the RAAF F111C at Butterworth, enjoy , taken today Sorry for the photos being a bit 'noisy', prior to the photo session, the camera's ISO was set to 1000, forgot to lower it due to being in a hurry...
