Imran K. 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 Hey there guys. Here are a few more shots of the DC3. Before that..here's a quick history of this particular aircraft. -> Built in Oklahome in 1945 as C47B for the USAF. -> USAF apparently didnt want it, and was subsequently sold to Aviation Services Ltd. in 1953 -> Joined Kuwait Airways in March, 1954. -> Joined Gulf Aviation Ltd. in 1960 and was the first DC3 they flew. (Gulf Aviation Ltd = Gulf Air) -> Sold to a "spare-parts dealer" in Bahrain in 1971. The aircrafts are "squished" together...but shots like this are easily obtained. It's so shiny! Fully assembled. All engine parts are still present in the aircraft. Aviation Photography to the extreme...lying down on the floor..with school kids inquiring about your mental state of mind... Check out the number of rivets! Wow...painstakingly inserted! "Nose Shot" for whom it may concern... <_> G-AMZZ...you truly are sexy... Thank you for viewing! Bing Chu 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 It is very heartwarming to see the tender loving effort into restoring those birds to such pristine condition. Only other place I have seen such dedication is at RAF Hendon. A big hand also to Imran for sacrificing his dignity for our gain!!

Imran K. 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Hey guys...lets delve deeper into the realms of the DC3's inner workings.... The following shots will give you a "brief" indication as to how well preserved this aircraft is. It is truly spectacular! Here we go...gear chamber... Michelin air's...hmmm...maybe.... Think I can fit up there...maybe la..not sure...lets try it out. Btw..check out the actuator on the top right of the photo. It still works! Loads of surprises in here. Scared to touch them though..just in case la. Fuses..cables..wires...immaculate! Cables cables cables wire cables cables wire rust cables TRANSFORMER! Personally, I feel this container contained a fire extinguishing agent due to the information plaque stuck onto it. Contains weights of "Nitrogen", "Agent Charge" and "Cartridge".
