Skyliner has reported it will wear a "dual" reggo - civil and military: 9M-NAB/M37-07

M37-07 seems very strange given M37-01 is the Falcon 900

Applying some logic it should be M56-01 but of course logic does not always apply.

A case of let's wait and see.

Haven't even got a grasp of our runaway economy and we are spending like no tomorrow. Can' t they just travel commercial like the newly installed Indonesia Premier? It will somehow upgrade MAS / AX's status as well. no?

The sh*t hits the fan...I wonder how do the government response....

They can just easily hire a B737-800NG from Malaysia Airlines. They can configure it as private jet or pax configuration depending on needs. MAS can also convert some of B738 order to B739ER with aux fuel tank for greater distance.

Why bother buying a new jet when you country is going through a difficult period of time....

this is just typical Malaysia Boleh - having 2 govt A319 jets - allows one for PM to use and another for his wofe to use perhaps. But anyway what is a few million or rm100 million to Najib govt - as 1MDB have accumulated supposedly rm41 BILLION losses in just less than 10 years during Najib term - this is more than 20 years of MAS accumulated losses and bailouts of rm16 Billion. Do you know how many A320s can be bought for that kind of money !

Not sure why 9H-AWK is considered by many as A319-ACJ, the size looked more like an A320 in fact... I could be wrong.

They could be confused because 9M-NAA is an A319-ACJ. It also does not help that the government is not transparent and come out to clarify the facts. They prefer not to do anything and leave it to everyone to speculate!

KUALA LUMPUR, March 16 (Bernama) -- The Prime Minister's Department (JPM) clarified that the executive aircraft, Airbus Corporate Jetliner (ACJ320) was purchased to replace the 16-year-old Boeing Business Jet (BBJ).

In a statement in Kuala Lumpur, JPM said the government made the decision to acquire the ACJ320 through a hire-purchase contract for a period of 15 years to replace the BBJ aircraft, which would be disposed off to finance the ACJ320 purchase.

The statement was issued in response to charges made by Parti Keadilan Rakyat Secretary-General, Rafizi Ramli in Parliament Monday that the aircraft was purchased for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's use.

According to JPM, the BBJ aircraft had been utilised by MAS since 1999 before the government obtained the aircraft in 2003 for the use by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

"Talks to replace the BBJ were initiated two years ago in view of the increasing cost of aircraft maintenance due to age and safety risk factors.

"The acquisition of the aircraft can reduce operational, management and maintenance costs as the government already has a ACJ319 in the fleet," according to the statement.

JPM said, in addition to the ACJ319 and ACJ320, the government executive aircraft fleet included smaller planes namely the Falcon acquired in 1989 and the Global Express in 2001.

What is the need to charter? Besar sangat ke rombongan Cik Kiah berjalan keliling dunia? That's why we have schedule flights. Maybe this is the time to book on MH and support the company.

Flying the schedule flight like normal peasants is currently in fashion amongst world leaders.

no point MAS being in OW alliance that can fly Malaysians to all corners of the world in business or first class when our leaders cannot exercise restraint in spending taxpayers' money

The price paid i.e. RM 465.4 million is a bit too much for an A320, no?

Airbus catalogue price for their aircrafts:

http://www.airbus.com/presscentre/pressreleases/press-release-detail/detail/new-airbus-aircraft-list-prices-for-2014/

A320 is USD 93.9 million = RM 347.2 million

Although that is not the actual price for A320CJ, we know that Airbus sells aircraft way below the listed price.

But then, it was acquired through DIRECT NEGOTIATION (not open tender) hence this alone should be raising a BIG BIG RED FLAG to the Corruption monitoring related agencies.

Direct negotiation = Not able to get the best price and prone to corruption. I tolong you, you tolong I la, markup 150% jah.

Who decided that the plane HAS to be purchased through Jet Premier One Sdn. Bhd.? Who is behind Jet Premier One Sdn. Bhd.?

Interesting that the government now confirms the ACJ319 is a government aircraft. When 9M-NAA arrived and hit the news in 2007 Badawi denied it had been bought by the government, then later explained it had been bought by PMB not the government, ignoring the fact PMB was controlled by the Ministry of Finance.

They predicted that people will have amnesia after several years anyway... by that time they won't be in the cabinet anymore!

BBJ is still can be use. 20 years is nothing unless it's used with great care. Air Force One (Boeing VC-25) have been serving the POTUS for 25 years. BBJ just 20 years already want to replace. Clearly Rakyat Dikemudiankan.
