Guys, for night shots, don't try tungsten WB eh?

Radzi,

All my shots using Auto WB -1...

Still not sure how to calculate WB manually :p

However, most of the night shots I used NEF (Nikon's RAW)

So, when process in Nikon Capture... can try with different WB post processing...

I guess tungsten = incandescent :unsure:

Here an example...

Using Auto WB -1

IPB Image

Using WB Set to Incandescent

IPB Image

I guess, with WB set manually to incandescent... the image will be a bit cooler

true to life :D

But with Auto WB -1 in D70s... a bit more dramatic... don't you think so :rolleyes:

What others think about this :unsure:

I guess so, too. :unsure: It is the one with the lightbulb symbol.

Tungsten / incandescent WB should give a cooler color temp, but how much, I don't know. Well we can keep on experimenting. :) True to life? I don't know.

However, if you want to have stars, the plane will be a bit dark for the unlighted body.

and you may have to risk to wave goodbye to the plane during the shutter has been opened.

good of bad to have stars?

really depends :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

I don't think Azahan using starlight filter that night.

You'll get that effect if you use small aperture (large f number)

The numbers of star "legs" depend on number of shutter leaves in the lens.

For starlight filters... the leg will be longer and depending on type no.

such as No.4, 4 legs or No.8, 8 legs etc...

And regarding camera on tarmac... we saw a few pax snapping away while walking

to the terminal that night.... :D

hi pieter!

yes, tripod assisted. manual mode. flood lights helped us so a/p at 6.3 and shutter speed at 1 sec. compensation +0.7 as flood lights not bright enough. focal length 18mm. yummy yummy!

Pieter,

I was lazy to take out my tripod, so I shot the scenes on tarmac handheld

The one with Azahan shooting at Foxtrot Charlie;

Focal Length = 18mm (from my 18-70mm)

ISO = 800

Manual Exposure, f/3.5 at 1/10sec ... (surprised with my steady hand at 0100.. :p )

This one

Focal length = 65mm

ISO = 800

Manual Exp, f/4.5 at 1/15sec... also handheld

IPB Image

and this one

Focal length = 48mm

ISO = 800

Manual Exp, f/4.5 at 1/15sec... handheld :D

I guess the glass helped a lot... :lol:

WHAT? JAL only sends in B767, no more 777 and 747?

Great night shots though. You guys really stayed up late to bring us these fabulous shots.

What lens Norm ?

Kit lens Gavin... AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-f/5.6 IF ED :lol:

one of the contributing factors of choosing D70ER.. :lol:

By itself... cost around RM1k ;)

They send in the 767 for the Narita flight I believe

They still do send the 777/747 for the other flight that comes from Kansai I think . Someone care to correct me ?

I guess its a sticker...

no way it gonna be "thick" as in "3D"

The color and lighting made it look like 3D... :D
