so many aircraft has no "13rd" row, I think cause of believe "bad luck". (also I checked Turkish Airlines aircrafts layouts and there were no 13rd row except B737-400 but I believe, in aircraft, there will be no 13rd row)

Hi Peter, that was an unlucky accident on Istanbul Ataturk Airport's runway 24 (06/24) again with heavy rain. airporthaber is means "airportnews" in english but I don't like this site, because of they are not trusty and everytime they makes exaggerated news! when I read a news at that site, I know %90 rumour of those news! anyway, you can see a video taken after sleep of runway on this link; http://www.zaman.com.tr/webapp-tr/haber.do?haberno=517842 but news text has wrong, it could be A300 instead A320. other news link; http://www.cnnturk.com/TURKIYE/haber_detay...;haberID=320349 and this pictures taken by our friends who are working at TAV PBB as gate operator Mr. Korhan YOKUS. accident happend at Friday afternoon 13:49local time while landing rwy 24 with rain and winds.(not heavy but stronge) . Aircraft was coming from Ankara for Kabul-Ankara-Istanbul flight with 30passanger and 20 crew. After landing A300 was skid off left end of runway 24 and stopped before fences. there were no injured and all passangers evacuated safely. after accident runway 06/24 closed traffics. firstly, so many people thought runway failure for causing by accident as remembered before accidents. In past, 4 aircraft slipped off runway 24 and one of them, crossed over fences and stopped on road in rainy days again. runway 06/24 is shorter than main runway 18L/R-36L/R, but in fact, difference is not much , only 700meters! in this accident, official reports says, A300 couldn't make correct brake after landing with over of landing speed or long touchdown. As you know, aircraft is A300B4 and this type has no "auto breaking" systems. according as unofficial information taken by one of friends who are working airport and he told us, talking with Ariana afgan pilots, pilots are says; "there were no brake since touchdown,so we can not stopped reversers and spoillers, so we couldn't stay at runway and we choosed out of runway to grass instead stuck to rwy06 approach lights"

Hello Attan, it is a local mosque around the airport if we are talking about Mr.Ishakoglu's pictures or other spotter pictures taken by near airport. Blue Mosque a bir far away from airport approximetly 7-8nm.But some of people are lucky if they making approach to rwy 24 because they have chance to see under the aircraft while passing over Blue Mosque,Hagia Sofia and Topkapi Palace http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sultan_Ahmed_Mosque Blue Mosque's original names is Sultan Ahmed Mosque but known as "blue mosque".

hi again on last part of spotter of Turkey. I would like to share Mr. Levent Ishakoglu's picture as last part. Mr. Ishakoglu is newest spotters of Turkey and actually he is not accept "spotters" title for him he says "I'm just only taking pictures" . He is working in LTBA, Ataturk Airport as gate operator and whe he find free time, taking pictures inside of apron. Honestly, some of pictures are really great as "artwork". hi again on spotters from Turkey part 2. Mr. FAruk Oncan is one of famous spotters in Turkey. Ofcourse you can see so many people who can take and sent pictures to A.net but the most of them owner aircraft distrubition or just only share their picture on A.net. But Mr.Faruk Oncan is one of us as and generally he can't send thier picture to A.net due A.net's policy! As you know, spotting is "prohibited" in Turkey so all pictures taken from "hidden" places He has get trouble with local police or guards so many times but after 5 or 10 taking to police station, he became friends with them now still taking pictures from hidden places still but police man know who is he and when they see him says " ahhh we know he is mad man of airport, let him go away!!!" really interesting desicion from Boeing because of 747 is flagship of Boeing productions. Aviation history remembers a few airplane as milestone and two of them built up by Boeing which are B737 and B747. also B747 was only one weapon of Boeing against Airbus's A380. Last few years actually since begin A380 project Boeing was working development over 747X. This is unexpected situation for Boeing, because 787 is not enough to make competition with Airbus new projects.

first of all, I'm really sad about heard and watch this accident. tonight all TV news showing that amateur record from airport. did you get a correct information about cause of accident? some of news says aircraft caught fire on air another one says cought fire after crash onto ground! just I guess, if aircraft cought on fire on air, could be bird strikes to one of engines while approaching ?

I'm asking my friends who are working as operation in THY but they don't know any news about KUL flights! but they said that , Jakarta is talking about for new destinations. As I said, there is no official news on THY web site or local aviaiton news. I'm checking everynight for getting newest news and if I knew something I'll be post here.

hmm interesting, because there is no any information about new international destinations on THY official website. Also I couldn't find reservation options after March. 25March is not far away time just 1,5 months later and they should be begin promotions or marketings. (www.thy.com)

of course Peter, when summer session comes, spooters will be there. But somethings going wrong in Istanbul. Generally we were waking up snowy or rainy days until last years in this session, but today I used air conditions on my car!!!! I think global weather changes hitted to Istanbul this year, we haven't get serious rain or snow in here and all days are sunny. This shouldn't be, so we are expecting bad weathers in April and May, maybe in June.

and this situation is getting angy us! if European countries does continue support this region, it will be faster Iraq dividing and believe me they are -kurdish- not innocent as much as looks like! Erbil can not becomes a middleeast HUB, this plan just for taking attention to northern Iraq and a politics strategy. Before Erbil, there are so many expreinced major airports like as ; Kuwait, Jordan-Amman, Bahrain, Qatar-Doha, Abu-Dhabi. As you know new Doha airport is under construction by Turkish Company and I think it will be finish in 2 years.

hmmm very interesting report. ADA is Adana Airport which is one of biggest and domestic trade center in middle of Anatolia.So, there is one of domestic carries major destination. Anfotunately, Adana peoples are not fully educated according to other 3 major Turkey big cities. Not the same but likes passangers problem can be getting in anatolia flights in Turkish carriers by uneducated peoples. Past years while I was flying as a passanger with THY, I was disputting to some other unresponsbile passangers sometimes about regulations! Generally, cell phones negative effects were not prove yet excatly. Specialists says, "this is a higher possibility but nıt means every cell phone can be disengage aircrafts navigsiton and autopilot systems but in depends on devices type or frequecy wave power." In my opinion, I believe cell phones excatly gives negative effects on aircraft navigation systems with their frequency transreceiver capability. As you know so many antennas located under passanger section on fuslage and also some of navigation devices located near cargo bays too. I'm not support cellphones "flight mode" special for listening MP3 or etc. cellphone is cellphone and no one can't give me a gurantee to anyone does not open phone instead open "flightmode" for mp3 or anything! 5 cellphones is really serious problem for older 737-400.new aircrafts have advanced and isolated antennas but -400s are a bit older for this new technologies. But I'm very angry to another point; why other passangers did not warn to unresponsible passangers!!!!!! I'll forward this report to my Turkish forums or taking attentions to cellphones use.
