There's always MNP for us consumers....

  3. I remember. Liked the soft music. Liked the video. Futuristic for its time.
  4. True, so much so even you refer to the last year anniversary instead of the nearer 31st anniversary two weeks back! I SMSed Radio24 about the crash and the DeeJay read a full Wikipedia entry on that on air.
  5. I sent you a PM Anyway I'm sorry I brought up that offtopic stuff in this topic - my guts got the better of me for a few moments. BTW I thought MEX, unlike EZE, was overwhelmingly received, and it was only because of AA's objection that they withdrew? No?
  6. No disrespect meant to you Mr Soh, but if you care to see in the Golden Lounge section of the forum, you will see my rather generic statement pales in comparison with what is in there, with no challenges - so I take issue with the 'most' qualifier. Still I do not blame you for seeing it as xenophobic. I call it honest observation. And I said locals, not Malays (why bring in Malays in here, I was talking about locals - Malaysians of all ancestry). I am not expecting to see Malaysia full of Malays, or just Malaysians for that matter. It's when people bring their culture here with no respect to locals, that I feel I need to make a statement. Have you even read Malaysian newspapers with news about them? And yes, I live among them here and tell me please what is there to understand from people who ask you to shut up when you ask them to give consideration to people who are sleeping past midnight? Barring political differences Malaysians are generally not upset of Singaporeans coming, so I think your Johor analogy is inaccurate - in fact, I love having my Singaporean friends come and visit me, not least becase theyr respect local culture and laws. OT. (LOL Why am I getting my foot into this! )
  7. Sorry, Seth - I was talking more about the social impact of the KUL-JNB-CPT-EZE route. Folks around Cheras, Jalan Klang Lama and Kepong are already complaining. I have seen myself the friction between them and locals. To my mind we have never seen people from that corner of the world in great numbers prior to MAS flying to ZA. Not that I am saying it's MAS' "fault", but rather an observation on how local social balance can be disrupted if you open up air links between certain countries. Of course there are other factors too like local colleges wooing prospective students from there, etc. MAS only makes it easier.
  8. Ever since MAS started flying there, I'm sorry I have to say this, our streets are full of Africans. Nothing against them per se, but these people bring in their culture with not an iota of respect towards locals. I'm going to be simplistic here and hoping MAS would axe ZA altogether.
  9. IINM commercial jet operations are not allowed from SZB, hence all you have are turboprop operations. Not really to block AK, at least not per se. Why so is another story.
  10. I demand an airport for Tronoh because it has a university with students from Vietnam, Africa and Turkmenistan so AirAsiaX can fly from Ashgabad directly to Tronoh to ferry the students without further overcrowding the LCCT....also Tronoh used to be a huge tin mining area, that ought to bring in the tourists right? I demand an airport for Tronoh I tell you!
  11. Eh, the two MAS 742s (MHI & MHJ) were RR powered kan (at least one of them manufactured for BA but was not taken up - MHI received at SZB 14 April 1982 IINM)?
  12. I am pretty sure KLIA started ops in 1998, a few weeks before the Commonwealth games.
  13. It's flying with Dragonair now IINM. Have always liked that 743 "Kota Kinabalu". Looked extremely pleasant in the old livery... Yeah, I too wonder why only one. But since at that point they only have two 742s as well which they had received only three years previously, I think it may have to do with the airline's ability at the time. In any case, not many 743s were built compared to the other series, yes? I think I distinctively recall only 86 were manufactured.
  14. I never claim myself to be an expert, in fact, I do not see myself as one. There are a couple of fellows at a certain forum who seem to think that they are though, so much so that they claim to represent us on matters of public transport! The LRT line extension was planned to go into Subang some time before the current 'revival' of SZB. The experts here will no doubt correct me, but to curve out from the current alignment to go to SZB, while not a total impossibility, have to give consideration to a few things. Two things that come to my mind are the overhead taxiway to the hangar area (yes, I don't know what is the proper term for that ) that crosses Jalan Lapangan Terbang and the simple little fact of volume justification. Sure we have lots of people going to and from the airport, and some people living around Subang Perdana / Permai, or folks from Batu Tiga can come over and park to take the LRT to the city. Subang Jaya however has more population and more stops can be justifiably built serving more people which in turn justifies the extension. Cost per kilometer, people! I am more in favour of a new line, say the future Cheras - Kota Damansara LRT/MRT, going to SZB and perhaps terminating at Subang Perdana. It is still in the planning stage so whatever that needs to be included can be included without later incurring extra cost. It's always easier on the pocket to have something planned from the start than to add it on later.
  15. It has always been connected to the KTM Port Klang line since its construction in 1983. The station there is KTM's "Sri Subang" and the line was used to transport jet fuel. It has now fallen into disuse but Subang Skypark is planning to revive it.
  16. I find the KLIA chime annoying...haha.. speaking about incoming SMS tones, I use this one:
  17. Not MH's, but a nice one nonetheless. http://web.singnet.com.sg/~tamago/thaimsg.mp3
  18. I admit I used to pandang lekeh that aiskrim potong. but now being overseas where I cannot sebarang makan I really miss the little things back home like that....
  19. Correct me if I'm wrong, but has AOR been completely upgraded to handle an A330? Maybe that is a better option, no?
  20. Same thing with other GLCs....they say Kabel Tiada, Maaf Banyak...or...Mesti Ada Saudara
  21. I personally like this bit - maybe we should do it often to get somewhere when things are not moving.
