  1. Mileage upgrades are never a good deal to begin with. The rates aren't that far off from an outright J redemption, and you need to buy an expensive upgradable fare.
  2. I don't think Malaysia can say much when our Air Force let MH370 slip through our airspace without attracting attention.
  3. I doubt they could brand it as PY. Maybe something like Y+ ala US carriers.
  4. For those booking CX with the intention of being on an A343, be reminded that there's a decent chance it'll be swapped with an A330 at the last minute for regional routes.
  5. Guess KLIA didn't want to pay for the Skytrax subscription
  6. No mention of how the military let an unidentified plane fly over the peninsular without raising any alarm bells?
  7. I remember some people "stumbled upon" a safety card on the beach last year. They forgot one minor detail though: it's a very old edition not seen in years. Some people just want to get some attention.
  8. The Taiwanese are still very much apprehensive about going to KK for tourism, no thanks to the kidnappings. MH is constantly dumping fares to keep the loads (somewhat) healthy.
  9. Not sure if it's meant to be a joke, but I've never heard of MH being referred to as "jelly fish". And i don't find it particularly funny. EK will not be allowed to sell tickets for KUL-PEN, like how CX was only allowed to pick up passengers in KL on their PEN-KUL-HKG runs.
  10. Shame KUL is down to 2 daily, though I heard TG isn't doing well on the route anyway. This will make connections beyond BKK even harder. My last A300 flight was on TG420 back in 2013
  11. KUL-SFO nonstop? Dream on. Or any non-stop flights to the US, for that matter. Visa waiver or not. The aircraft *may* be able to fly the route, but I'm sure it won't turn a profit. SFO itself isn't enough to sustain a whole lot of high-yield traffic, or SQ would've tried SIN-SFO nonstop. Even QF pulled out of SFO years ago. KUL has never been "premium" enough to justify such prestigious routes. Not a single US carrier flies here so you can just imagine how large the US-Malaysia market is. MH shouldn't fly the route just to "give Aseans another option". It is not a charity organization and the last thing they need is a route that's doomed to fail
  12. They're not worlds apart. Only the A380 has flat seats in J, albeit without direct aisle access like the 333 and 772. (Before I get flamed for this, I'll agree that it's acceptable for the prices they're charging) Yes, the 772 has somewhat inferior IFE, but hardly what I'd call "too different" even in Y.
  13. TK's appetite for growth makes it highly unlikely they'll lease out any planes. As it stands they can't seem to get their orders fast enough.
  14. DXB-PEN-SIN with 5th freedom rights in between would be nice
  15. I have my money on PEN over any other Malaysian city, though even that isn't too likely in the foreseeable future.
  16. I could understand if one was a regional config, but both are 1-2-1 lie-flat long haul seats which doesn't make that much sense.
  17. As it stands the partner redemption chart is ridiculous. Any enhancement would just make it even more worthless than it already is. Reminds me of TG which doubled the redemption rates some time ago only to backtrack after a huge backlash from its members. Any volunteers?
  18. Aren't they all essentially the same mediocre angled-flat seat?
  19. Their fares to SIN are always on par with SQ/MI and MH!
  20. Doubt it gets a whole lot of premium/high yield traffic to fill up their widebodies.
  21. Reminds me of MH's route cutting. JNB, LAX and a bunch of European destinations...
  22. Just hope IST can handle the whales. It'll be quite a task to board and deboard a packed A380 at one of their famous remote stands.
